Photos and POST by @amivitale. The Taliban have taken control of Afghanistan. How can we turn our backs on all the innocent human beings who will be targeted? I will be searching for ways we can help. This post from the @GeorgetownUniversity Institute for Women, Peace and Security at giwps.georgetown.edu/how-to-save-the-lives-of-afghan-women/ is a good place to start (link in profile.) In the meantime, we can support humanitarian visas, support those protecting those who spoke out and ask the U.S. government to make protecting women, especially women activists, a priority. @FastCompany has also written an article on getting involved. Go to fastcompany.com/90666326/how-to-help-afghanistan-things-you-can-do-right-now-for-a-country-in-crisis to help today. (Link in profile.) Please follow these brave, thoughtful journalists there right now. @afshinismaeli @everydayafg, @pbbphoto, @wakil.kohsar #afghanistan #war #peace #women

"grass screams out in pain when you cut it. Checkmate vegans."
Cutting grass physically ruptures the grass's cells which releases the chemicals from inside the cells put into the air, these chemicals then irritate the mucous membranes of many animals. This is not "the grass screaming out in pain". I swear middle school bio classes need to stop anthromorphizing every concept that gets taught because y'all will end up coming away thinking that hydrophobic molecules actually fear water. Anthropomorphizing nonsentient things can be a convenient metaphor but it's just that, nothing more. Grass doesn't *want* to not be eaten, hydrophobic molecules don't *want* to avoid water, excited electrons don't *want* to return to their ground state. It's a metaphor
They get angry when we 'anthropomorphise' animals but then pretend that grass somehow had the same level of sentience as a pig.

you know that feeling when you’re out in nature at 5 or 6am and everything’s still quiet and the air still smells like night time and it’s fresh so you shiver a bit but then slowly the first rays of sun peak over the edge of the earth and everything is bathed in foggy, golden light and you just stand there watching the earth awaken.. if that’s not soothing idk what is

“When veganism is constructed as white, First Nations people who choose a meatless diet are portrayed as sacrificing cultural authenticity. This presents a challenge for those of us who see our vegan diets are ethically, spiritually and culturally compatible with our indigenous traditions.”
