what's eerie is the singularity of the individual is matched by the singularity of the task, like we watch one incredibly specific person apply their ability to one incredibly specific thing, or one incredibly specific thing shape the ability of one incredibly specific person
not to “lol 👍” again but two things recently:
1. Random tiktok commenter understanding he who occasions the catalogue
(the infinite omitted adjective list)
2. The last time I saw you, you were on stage ! your hair was wild, your eyes were bright, and you were in a rage! :
lol 👍
how has no one ever told me that cormac mccarthy wrote a book about a former formula 2 driver turned deep sea salvage diver (standing at the bottom of the sea and raising his eyes to some faint green twilight) who is in love with his sister
hi! you haven't been around much so i don't know if this will reach you, but i was wondering if you have any sports related books to recommend? or even just books with characters who are athletes. i know this is kind of a vague request, please feel free to ignore it if it's any bother. i hope you're doing well :)
hi Mari :) never a bother, but i wish i had a better answer for you. outside of the things i’ve posted here nothing jumps to mind. largely the type of sports writing I’m most interested in is the post game recap... I don’t really read fiction about sports because when I’d put any time into trying to find novels to read, they were bad. HUGE caveat for the best recommendation that’s ever been sent to me on here, the short story "the consummation of dirk" by jonathan callahan. but generally everything was disappointing and/or irritating so I stopped. I could definitely give you more fic recs if there is anything specific you're looking for but in terms of published books, sorry, if anything comes to me I will DM you… even most of the stuff I HAVE posted about I’m lukewarm on. disappointing for sure
