My honey and I had a fantastic time at the Ball in Newport, RI this weekend. We ate, we drank, we danced, we laughed and hugged the people who have become some of our closest friends. It was a wonderful and memorable weekend. I'm so proud of him for being just a couple weeks shy of completing his first year of Business school. What a whirlwind of a year it's been. I know I'll look back in a few years and wish we were still here, so I'm taking in every ounce of this experience and feel lucky to have another year left to take even more in.

If I'm lucky enough to raise a daughter someday, I hope to teach her (and show her) to love herself and just how extraordinary she is. To be confident and comfortable in her own skin. To be kind and forgiving. I hope to teach her about leadership. And independence. The importance of education and having an opinion. That she can dream big and be whoever she wants to be.

ahhh!!! last night we bought our tickets for the 5:05pm show on Sunday. I think my husband may be just as more excited than I am. I refuse to read anything about it before I see it so I hope the internet will stay quiet (yeah right!).

window open at my desk this morning with the cool breeze on my face as I sip my coffee and get to work. it's going to be in the 80's here today. I pulled out my favorite black strappy sandals to wear, exposing my "barracuda" blue toenails and bare legs (in March?! oh my!). ran some intervals this morning while incorporating calisthenics and made a yummy breakfast. today already feels so good!

I enjoyed my lunch in the park on this beautiful spring day! For lunch today: barley and arugula salad with veggie burger, tomatoes, sliced orange, squeezed lemon and olive oil. and a raw juice on the side.

I'm pretty certain that Sunday is my favorite day of the week. And yesterday marks my favorite Sunday that I can remember. I was so happy to have my husband home after a week away. We woke up together, he started some reading for school and I whipped up turkey bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches with fresh fruit salad and raw juice. I did some things around the apartment- cleaned some closets, boxed up some clothes to give away, and cleaned up a bit, then sat down and read the paper. Since it was close to 70 degrees at noon, we were itching to get out. We walked down our little street to the square where we found ourselves shopping for outdoor gear at EMS for our upcoming vacation. For me, hiking shoes and a royal blue henley, for him, hiking shoes, waterproof pants and some dri-fit tops. It's pretty rare for Alex to be excited about shopping for stuff for him, so yesterday was a treat- he was so gung-ho about it and I was taking full advantage of it, filling his wardrobe with critical outdoor gear. We're psyched for our outdoor trip in Maine. To say the square was buzzing yesterday is an understatement. There were people everywhere and wearing green for St. Paddy's day. Dogs, babies, hats, sunglasses, various foot races around the city, parades, families all wearing smiles and happy to be breathing in the spring air. As Bostonians, we're not too excited yet. Even though it's supposed to be in the 70's and 80's (gasp!) all week, we're fully aware that we still about a month and a half left until we're in the clear as far as nice weather goes. I'm pretty certain we won't see any snow, but the temp may creep back down into the 30's-40's with rain. When we returned home from our shopping trip and our walk (which included iced coffee) we grabbed some reading material and headed out to the park that's right next to our apartment building. After a few hours of laying in the grass we headed in and I made some dinner. Then we settled down to catch up on Modern Family and watched Frozen Planet. I always find myself in tears witnessing how fascinating the earth and its creatures are. If Discovery shows repeats of the first series, it's a definite must-watch. Most Sunday's, I spend the day thinking that the weekend is about to end and another work week begins. I love my job, but I never want the weekend to end. Yesterday, the thought didn't even occur to me. I enjoyed the entire day and wasn't phased about the upcoming work week. But, here we go!
