“Did you miss me?”
“Not a bit,” she said. They both knew the actual answer to that question.
Skyler took a deep breath walking up to the other person her arms crossed in concern. “I heard we have a problem.”
“I have a problem with most people, don’t let it be something you worry about.”
The concert was one event that Sammy was actually looking forward to. She’d actually enjoyed music, and even if it wasn’t the type she would typically listen to, it was something. Of course, believing that anything could be enjoyed here was wrong, as the eruption of powers and chaos halted everything in it’s tracks.
She pushed her way through the crowd of running and panicked people, her own power useless in this situation. She had to be asleep, as did the people she was connected to. She was just human here and it terrified her to think how quickly she could be downed, with no defenses against the powers flying around her.
She dodged and weaved, trying her best to stay below radar or anyone who may be more than sadistic with all this happening. Once she had found a space a distance away, just enough to feel out of shooting range, she stopped to watch everything happening. Her eyes were wide as she saw people attacking, simply adding to the chaos, or running.
She gripped the tree next to her, not even sure what to think as she watched it all unfold before her. She couldn’t believe it, although she shouldn’t have been surprised. It was no secret that people were unhappy here, she’d just never anticipated an event such as this.
“Do you feel that?” she asked the person passing her, as the ground began to shake. She almost wanted confirmation that this wasn’t a dream in and of itself.

“I’m not worried about the machines breaking.” Liam said. “I can just manipulate the gravity if they do and no one will get hurt.” He added. “But I wasn’t going to go on the rides. I was just going to go there to grab some food, really.”
“Oh,” she said, pausing because she didn’t really have anything else she could say about it. Finally she just shrugged,” I guess food would be good.” Then after another pause,” Unless it’s just that funnel cake bullshit that has no substance. It only makes me sick when I have that after drinking.”
boy-or-beast:
Oliver looked over to the drop tower. “I was thinking that.” he pointed to the ride “but if you'd prefer a different one….. the bumper cars maybe?” he said giving the woman options
“Anyone wanting to ride that must have a death wish,” she scoffed at the drop tower, then said,” Let’s do it.” She didn’t even wait for him to respond and started walking toward it.
boy-or-beast:
“ well I have been told I’m bad at jokes, and that’s a really curl one. I was being serious when I asked you to go on a ride with me.”
She paused a second, eyeing him, looking for the lie in what he was saying. She’d done a fairly good job keeping people at an arms length since arriving in Grimstone, so it was only logical to assume anyone attempting to reach out had some motive.
“And what ride is it you want to go on?” she asked finally, figuring she could humor the guy and figure it out once they’ve spent some time together.
liamxslater:
“Yeah that’s definitely not what I’m doing?” Liam furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head. “I suggested the festival but if you don’t want to go then don’t. No one is forcing you to.”
“I don’t understand why you’re even interested in going. Aren’t those things insanely dangerous? All the quick put up and take down, it’s probably impossible to actually do it safely.”
skyler-nichols:
Skyler shook her head. “I….no thank you. I’m not legally allowed to have alcohol even if I wanted some.” She took a deep breath. “Please tell me you aren’t going to drink yourself into a coma.” She was starting to become very concerned about the woman in front of her’s drinking.
“You’re really a goody two shoes aren’t you?” Sammie said, eyeing her. The fact that she had to bring up her age alone showed she was far better a person than Sammie was. A bit too much a stick in the mud for her tastes. She couldn’t help but laugh at little at the girl’s concerns,” Well, I can only hope I could drink myself into a coma. Would be quite nice to get some rest.... but there’s too much risk in allowing that to happen. Black out drunk is the farthest I’ll go.”
Given no one knew her power, Sammie could already guess she didn’t even understand the context around her not wanting to be in a coma. The thought of being stuck within her own head, or someone else’s, was too terrifying for her to even risk.
“Listen, whatever joke you’re trying to make inviting me to do something in this damn festival, I’m not willing to be the punch line. Find some other sucker to spend time with.”
detecting-courtney:
“Because it’s fun and… I don’t know, it beats people freaking out over power outages?”
“Well, freaking out about power outages is sort of stupid anyway. It’s not like any individual has any control of that outside of maybe an electrician. Investing energy into panicking over a little bit of dark, is just a waste all around and not helpful to anyone.”
skyler-nichols:
Skyler rolled her eyes at the woman. Sarcasm was one of the few things she wasn’t naive enough to fall for. It helped that the woman in front of her’s emotions and tone were completely contrary. “I was just saying. Maybe not so much alcohol?”
“No, really, you’re so right,” Sammie said, rolling her eyes exaggeratedly. She may have had a hefty amount before coming here. She paused before saying,” Wait, is this a tactic to try and get some of this for yourself? Literally just ask, I have enough to go into a coma. I can spare a glass or two. Just as long as you don’t hope friendship comes with me sharing, because that is never going to happen.”
skyler-nichols:
“Maybe don’t….do that. Drinking is bad for you.”
“Wait, drinking is bad for you?” Sam said with false shock dripping from the words,” Well, I should stop then! I definitely wouldn’t want to do anything that could possibly be bad for me. Thank you, thank you so much for warning me.”
“You don’t have to believe me, but I know that I will win the pie eating contest.”
“It’s not that I don’t believe you, I just don’t particularly care. I have intention of eating any of the pie here anyway, why would I care who wins some stupid contest?”
“Yeah. Not okay.”
“Walking into social situations holding a bottle of vodka is not okay? Should I keep it quiet that I also pre-gamed this event and may have stashed other liquor on my person... just in case?”
“I’m really just trying to enjoy the last days of this nice warm weather. What about you, what brings you to the lake today?”
“I was contemplating seeing how long I can hold my breath,” Samantha responded. It was a lie, but her reason for being there wasn’t really any of his business.
“Well, between training, work, classes and doing that pesky thing called sleep I haven’t really had time to get out and socialize. I’m feeling like I’m new again and should introduce myself.” Ian chuckled.
“I can related to three of those four things, but really, don’t trouble yourself with introductions. This can simply not turn into a conversation.”
