Were the "Moms for Liberty" prosecuted for theft?
@profmeowmers reminds me of the time we made the Muslim-Americans display to spite that hateful "suggestion" card I found.

The urge to ask people "Why did you do that?" Is sooooo strong.
You saw were I took that book from when I handed it to you, WHY ARE YOU FUCKING SCARED TO PUT IT RIGHT BACK? Nothing around it will be negatively affected by you Putting it back in the big empty gap WE created.
Fuuuuuuck
The only way I can describe the new candles I unboxed at work is thus:
"Grandma's morning fart in a Funeral Home bathroom."
This guy just opened the door of the store, poked his head in an said "I always imagined a cobblestone fireplace back there with an Imp running errands for you." I laughed and asked if he was offering to be my imp, he said no, but he might want to be my Gimp. Then ran away.
Lamarckdromia beagle: these crabs wear living sea sponges as protective "hats;" after selecting a sponge, the crab trims it, drapes the tailored sponge across its carapace, and then carries it around
Last year, a newly-classified species (referred to as Lamarckdromia beagle) was discovered off the coast of Western Australia. Like all other members of the genus Lamarckdromia, this species is part of the Dromiidae family, which contains many different types of crabs that are known to use living sea sponges and ascidians to protect themselves from predators. These crabs are often collectively referred to as "sponge crabs."
Lamarckdromia beagle: this new species is covered in a dense, shaggy layer of "fur," which is actually made up of hair-like structures called setae
According to this article from The Guardian:
Dr. Andrew Hosie, a curator of crustacea and worms at the Western Australian Museum, said sponge crabs had hind legs that were specially adapted for holding their protective hats.
“The sponge or ascidian just keeps growing and will mould to the shape of the crab’s back,” he said. “It will never attach … it forms a nice cap that fits quite snugly to the top of the crab."
Similar to how hermit crabs use shells for protection, the sponges help Dromiidae crabs to camouflage from predators such as octopuses and other crabs.
The sponges can be bigger than the crab itself, and also provide a chemical deterrent. “Some of the compounds that these sponges are producing are very noxious,” Hosie said. “There’s not a lot of active predators that would be interested in munching through a sponge just to get to a crab.”
Sponge crabs in general come in many different shapes and sizes; L. beagle (pictured above) has a uniquely dense, shaggy coat of "fur" covering its body, but other members of the genus Lamarckdromia have a much less shaggy appearance, and there are many sponge crabs that have no layer of "fur" at all.
Some examples of the other sponge crabs within the Dromiidae family:
I know this isn't exactly the type of arthropod that I'd normally discuss on my blog (given that it's not a moth or some other insect) but technically crustaceans are arthropods, and these ones are really weird/interesting...so I figured that I might as well just go with it.

Within descriptions of long-buried cities and temples, academic authors wrote of the sexually active Goddess as "improper," "unbearably aggressive" or "embarrassingly void of morals," while male deities who raped or seduced legendary women or nymphs were described as "playful," even admirably "virile." The overt sexual nature of the Goddess, juxtaposed to Her sacred divinity, so confused one scholar that he finally settled for the perplexing title, the Virgin-Harlot. The women who followed the ancient sexual customs of the Goddess faith, known in their own language as sacred or holy women, were repeatedly referred to as "ritual prostitutes." This choice of words once again reveals a rather ethnocentric ethic, probably based on biblical attitudes. Yet, using the term "prostitute" as a translation for the title of women who were actually known as qadesh, meaning holy, suggests a lack of comprehension of the very theological and social structure the writers were attempting to describe and explain.
Descriptions of the female deity as creator of the universe, inventor or provider of culture were often given only a line or two, if mentioned at all; scholars quickly disposed of these aspects of the female deity as hardly worth discussing. And despite the fact that the title of the Goddess in most historical documents of the Near East was the Queen of Heaven, some writers were willing to know Her only as the eternal "Earth Mother."

This is The Violin Monster and he’s really cool. You should all look him up on Facebook. He’s the most talented violinist I have ever met, and he’s super sweet and friendly. He also teaches violin to kids. His back story is he’s a 400+ year old werewolf from Galway, Ireland who plays violin to quell his hunger for human flesh. I forget the details of how he became a werewolf, but I think it had something to do with a deal he made with a witch.
Story time: so one day I actually had spending money, so for funsies I kept putting money in his jack-o-lantern (that’s what his tip bucket is) requesting Scotch-Irish folk songs, and he didn’t just play every song he PLAYED them like he was in a music battle with the Faery King. I was quite impressed. Later, I ran into him, mask-off, at Café Envie and I told him “That was really cool, but you still didn’t play my favorite song ‘The King of the Faeries,’ do you not know it?” and Violin Monster looked around and over his shoulder, and then leaned over me and said in a hushed tone: “Oh I know it, but it’s bad luck to play that song. They say if you play it three times the Faery King himself will appear. So I don’t play that song anymore.” And then he smiled and walked away.
I don’t think Zach is just one of those performers who never breaks character, I think he’s actually summoned faeries by accident with his amazing music.

i was surprised at how much nope 2022 resonated with my experiences working for a national park, in particular dealing with a certain subset of guests who approach nature as a sanitized commodity which they can consume. the scene at the commercial shoot where oj’s trying to tell everyone how to act safely around lucky and they ignore him, causing lucky to freak out. the tmz man on the motorcycle desperate to get a picture of jean jacket despite oj telling him again and again to run away. jupe’s belief that he understands and can control jean jacket while ultimately reducing it to another part of his spectacle. it all feels very familiar to the experience of telling off a group of tourists trying to take a selfie with a bear or feed the elk.
it’s like, our society is so divorced from nature that the only way a lot of people experience it is through this diluted lens of spectacle which ultimately warps it into something palatable for the viewer. which then, of course, convinces people that nature really is like that and exists solely for our entertainment. they can’t fathom that the elk or alien or whatever poses a threat to them because they’re the viewer, they’re above that. so when they encounter those things in the real world they’re unable to treat them with the respect they deserve, reduce them to spectacle, and end up getting eaten alive
