She couldn’t stop yawning. That’s what a fifteen hour shift did to a person. It was supposed to have been ten, but when she was needed she had a hard time staying away from St. Mungo’s. Her arms supported a tall stack of files to go over in her non-existent free time, but who was she kidding? She would make time because someone had to do it, and she was the only one that she trusted to do it correctly. She would–
Her thoughts were sharply cut off as she tripped over a bin, a quiet shriek escaping her as she fell to the ground, papers and folders raining down on her. Her exhausted mind was already blaming her heavy load, refusing to place the blame on work. She was fine. She was completely capable of working long shifts.
Maybe it was because she was so tired, but she found the whole situation hysterical. Instead of reaching for the papers she let out a peel of laughter. She someone questioned her well-being she waved at them. “No, no I’m fine I think. I’m sorry, I’m just a bit of a clumsy idiot. I didn’t mean to wake you!”
“You didn’t wake me at all,” Mina told her. She wasn’t getting much sleep lately, and it was all because of those goddamn nightmares. She was afraid to lay down in her own bed. So instead, she lay on the couch, trying not to fall asleep. The witch stepped outside, barefoot, to help the other recover her things. She picked up a few folders and papers, and handed them to her. “You sure you’re okay? I can help you inside if you want?” she offered, sending the woman a faint smile. “I’m Mina by the way, sorry I haven’t introduced myself sooner, but I haven’t seen you around much, and I’m usually down in the shop or inside.“ It was a lousy excuse, but an excuse nonetheless.
