This scene to me showed Merida’s and her fathers relationship. In the film, it to me sometimes came acrossed that he didn’t really care for Merida. (As in not impressed of her boyish attitude)

I loved this and I wish it stayed in. I know this was a mother/daughter film - but it still should have shown how she relates to her father better than her mother (like myself)
