Gäßestrepper fountain, Bitburg
According to legend, during the Thirty Years’ War the town was besieged by Swedish troops and close to being starved out, when the inhabitants thought of a trick: they put goat skins on their children and sent them parading on the city walls, because what could POSSIBLY go wrong with that plan. Fortunately, the Swedish couldn’t be bothered to look too closely (or, you know, shoot them?) and instead were like “fuck that shit, they’ve still got delicious goat for weeks, no point besieging” and went home. Bitburg was saved and the goat children became local heroes. Yay!
(No idea why this kid is actually drinking like a goat, though. 17th Century method acting?)
The other day I was visited by the most beautiful pigeon (dove?) I have ever met.
