the morning sky is dark and filled with ash and dragons .          they flee in small clumps,    each moving in different directions,    their only clear desire to be away .          they squawk and snap and roar at one another,    restless and afraid as they abandon helheim's gate,    A SMOLDERING ISLE ENCIRCLED BY SEASTACKS ...          the very place where the hundreds year long dragon war of berk had come to an end with a great blast,    the red death meeting her end upon the stony shore .

a lone shape moves toward rather than away    —    all black and wide wings,    RED TAIL AT HIS BACK .          the nearer they draw the more restless toothless becomes:    snorting from pink nostrils,    somewhere between anxiety and agitation;    every frill twitching around his head,    detecting each minute sound;    pupils narrowed to thin slits amidst the green of his eyes .          he prowls the sky as the wolf does the forest,    gliding silently upon stretched sails,    nose flared as he scents the air with quick breaths .

it takes the better part of an hour before the dragon is at last satisfied and makes his descent,    lithe body folding into a swift drop    —    the wind whistling sharply against scales,    fall caught by a sudden outstretch of the wings:    they beat twice,    tail brushing against the earth before wings fold and claws scrape upon stone .          when his rider        [ @drekakynr  ]       attempts to dismount,    the night fury turns his head with a short,    sharp growl:    A WARNING TO STAY ASTRIDE .

he moves with a light step,    travels up the wide tunnels left in the wake of an angered queen,    sharp lines in the walls where dragons had once clung,    now bare .          heat shimmers in the air,    red light growing brighter with each stride .          the end of the cave opens into the central chamber,    the lair of the red death which had long since laid dormant .

the floor at the base cracked now,    lava bubbling maliciously beneath,    especially from a large,    circular hole near the center,    as though one had fallen through like ice on a lake .          and there,    alone upon the floor,    still shaking molten rock from the folds of its new wings ...          the queen's heir .          from this height it appears small,    harmless    —    yet those many pairs of glaring eyes,    the tall ridges along its spines,    the rounded club of its tail ...          there is no mistaking this for anything but THE SECOND COMING OF THE GREAT QUEEN OF THE HELHEIM NEST .
