at their final confrontation, rhaenyra will decide to put the realm first by telling aegon about the prophecy. however, she’ll say it in high valyrian. aegon will pretend to understand, too embarrassed to admit he only knew a few words. alicent will later mention her limited knowledge of the prophecy to aegon, who will realize that he has no way to find out the full meaning and pass it on. this is how the targaryen’s sacred inheritance will end, in tragedy and farce

there’s a moment in rhaenyra’s speech where there’s a cut to joffrey internalizing what she’s saying about the prophecy. it’s right after she emphasizes how only dragons can save the world and that chosen targaryens are the inheritors of that sacred responsibility. i wonder if that’s going to make him feel very, very concerned about the safety of their dragons…
