Louisiana SPCA needs help with animal rescue operations.
The Louisiana SPCA is currently assisting the Louisiana State Animal Response Team (LSART) with animal rescue efforts in the recently flooded areas of southeastern Louisiana, and are requesting assistance from the public.
As of now, what the need most are supplies. As the floodwaters recede, the influx of animals to local shelters is only going to increase, and many shelters will not have adequate supplies following this flooding disaster. There are currently three drop off locations for pet supplies in New Orleans: Canine Connection, Camp Bow Wow Mid-City and Demo Diva.
Immediate supplies needed include:
Metal buckets with clipping carabiners
Wire pet cages in various sizes
Unopened dry cat and dog food
Anyone requesting assistance with animals in flood conditions should first contact their local animal control agency. If they cannot be reached, contact LSART at [email protected]. Please include where the animal is located, the number of animals needing assistance, whether the animal is confined or free roaming, and the contact information for the person reporting the stranded animals.
If you find a lost pet, please bring them to your nearest animal shelter.
