iwytbma part 2 scraps bc i’ll never write it
“signs your friend is talking to her ex again,” caroline said. “one, she’s always on her phone.”
“two, she seems—temporarily—happier.”
“three, she’s been having mood swings.”
“i have not been having mood swings,” azzi grumbles.
kk’s jaw drops, and she points at her. “you’re having one right now! you’re being grumpy!”
“because my friends are calling my happiness temporary,” azzi snapped.
“i’m worried about you,” caroline said, voice softening. “i hate that girl. i hate what she did to you.”
“i know,” azzi said. “i didn’t forget. i’m not… i don’t trust her, either. i just. i don’t know.”
paige broke up with her because she wanted to go back to being just friends because being in a relationship was too demanding. she didn’t realize it would break azzi’s heart and make her hate her. she missed azzi’s friendship terribly at first, for years, until azzi’s first public relationship as a popstar, and jealousy took over her entire life. she was angry at the world, at the new partner, at herself. she was azzi’s best friend. how could someone else have any claim to her? she tried to push it down, knowing it was her own fault for fumbling, but the birthday party opportunity had landed so perfectly in her lap, she couldn’t say no. also the tall beautiful woman she was with was angel.
azzi and paige see each other at azzi’s concert; caroline threatens to fight her; insight into how silly and easy it is between them; paige does a whole spiel about why she wants azzi back; brings up some kind of proof that she’s for real (a necklace azzi got her that she wore to the draft); azzi says she has to see it demonstrated but that she’s willing to try
and that’s it! that’s the end! i don’t have any more ideas!
