i try to be as close to canon as possible and then play around with the parts that aren’t explicitly stated in the book (duh) as well as give each character an “ugly” trait (that’s what makes them more appealing and real to me)

continuing to experiment with cartoon style stuff and I just finished my catch 22 reread, so here's a little character design exploration ! I tried to capture my mental images from when I first read the book in high school, uninfluenced by the movie versions

yes absolutely!!!! (incoming lots of thoughts and feelings lmao)

however also i do lowk ship yossarian with other people cause he does have a canonical relationship with luciana and nurse duckett (my bisexual or pansexual king) which i do in fact enjoy, i think yossarian loves everyone 😝

BUT yossarians relationship with the chaplain is not only cute but fundamentally important to catch 22 as a whole so naturally i think they need to be together 😇 im just also very open to the other relationships yoyo has

also as a general note, as much as i personally like to try to stick to the book canon a lot, im also very open to any catch 22 ships or headcanons cause i think its cool

nightmare sleep routine yossarian tryna catch 22 zs but orr is tittering and tinkering over his gas stove and somehow he has found horse chestnuts so everything that he’s saying comes out all garbled and yoyo doesn’t want him to speak anymore but all orr is doing is giggling and chittering. and then a loud gunshot bangs what sounds like right next to him and he hears a demented cackle so he knows it’s havermeyer shooting up field mice with the dead man in yossarians tents gun. so these gunshots keep happening and orr keeps giggling and havermeyer keeps cackling and then to join the awful cacophony hungry joe can be heard screaming from night terrors on the other side of the train tracks joined by dobbs in a different part of the camp also screaming his head off triggered by hungry joe’s screaming. orr makes some chittering comment about it but his words are completely garbled by the fucking horse chestnuts and yossarian can’t stop thinking about how much he wants to murder havermeyer. hungry joe beats him to it because he comes yelling running out of his tent after one more gunshot and then empties his entire handgun into havermeyer’s tent which somehow doesn’t kill him. hungry joe then comes running and then trips and falls into yossarians slit trench where he stays the whole night. screaming. from night terrors.
