Fox TV show just renewed for Season 3 after the Disney-Fox merger!
9-1-1 is a melodrama show focusing on the first responders in Los Angeles. Filmed in the city.
Henrietta known as “Hen:” Lesbian black woman who is a BADASS firefighter/paramedic. She has a wife and son.
Michael: Black gay man. Always wants to do what’s best for his family.
Lieutenant Athena Grant: Black woman who is THE BEST COP. Honestly only main cop represented in the show!
You’ll also recognize the actress Angela Bassett from Marvel’s Black Panther. She is also an executive producer of “9-1-1” so she calls the shots.
“Chimney:” Awesome Korean firefighter/paramedic. Has a soft heart.
Season 1 focuses on representing depression, Alzheimer’s, caregivers, suicide, racism, and more.
In Season 2, the new characters are:
Eddie: Mexican-American firefighter! Amazing dad. US Army veteran.
Christopher: Eddie’s son. ADORABLE KID! He has cerebral palsy. My brother has cerebral palsy, so I cried when I first saw Christopher on screen!
Maddie: Buck’s sister. Abuse survivor. Level-headed 9-1-1 operator. Likes Chimney.
Buck: ok hello it’s our White Boy of the month. Honestly a cinnamon roll. He cries at military homecoming videos.
Season 2 is still running! It focuses on surviving abuse, PTSD, caregivers esp. single parents! Disability, special education, sexism, racism.
