"Hilarious." She points a finger, leaning her cheek against the toilet. "I'm sure it's just the stomach flu."
OPEN STARTER
Pete looked at her as she said this and pointed her finger the way she was at him. "Don't say I didn't tell you." He said, with a look on his face.
"Teasing, yes." She laughs but gives him a real kiss after a moment, cupping his cheeks with gloved hands.
Pete heard her say this and then laugh before she actually did kiss him. He couldn't help but close his eyes as she placed her hands on his cheeks and he took it in. He pulled back slightly and looked back into her eyes.
Her lips gently graze against the corner of his own before pulling back after a second. "That alright with you?"
Pete felt her lips graze over his for that brief second. He looked back at her. "That is teasing." He told her.
"Do I?" there's a small smirk that tugs at her lips, leaning a bit closer to the man. "That's good to know."
Pete nodded. "I don't even know how to describe it but yes, you do. You just have the way." He said. He noticed her smirk and lean closer to him. A smile appearing on his face.

Pete watched as she leaned closer to him and heard her say it again. "I know I have the last name that people could make it sound sexy in some way. But you really have a way of saying it." He told her.
Cooper couldn't help but give a little wince at the reminder that Pete and Violet had went through some.. rough times when Lucas was conceived and born, but he didn't comment. That wasn't his pain to deal with, and they were past that. "Maybe, I know I wouldn't mind. I've always wanted a little army, but I had kind of accepted that it was off the table when I married Charlotte." Not that he held it against her or had any ill will towards her about it. It wasn't the life that everyone wanted. His eyes continued to look down at the phone in his hand, still scrolling as they slowly got towards the ground floor. "Plus Sam will be there if we do need another vehicle for some reason."
Pete noticed that he hadn't said anything to that. And it was understandable. A lot at happened at that time. "Oh, I don't know. She might surprise you at some point." Pete told him. "You can't just assume that is how it will be. I mean....what did you think of me when you first met me. And am I the same now as I was then." Pete said. "Thats true. He will be there and he would probably have driven there."
"It was hard enough to have her be okay when we found out about Mason, I'm not even going to attempt a conversation about having one of our own. At least not yet. Maybe she's waiting on me to grow up, or Mason. I hope the second one more." Cooper chuckled quietly as he leaned against the back of the elevator, scrolling casually through his feed on his phone as they spoke. It wasn't often that he let himself just get lost, but elevators were one of his few times. It was odd, but he never claimed to be normal. "That's fine, figure it's easier than both of us going separate and having to leave our vehicle there."
"I can understand that." Pete said. "You never know, it could just happen one day. I mean...when it came to Lucas, he wasn't planned. But I wouldn't want it any other way...besides the fact I wasn't even sure he was mine from the start." He said. As they stood in the elevator, he glanced over at Cooper as he did this. "Mmm, that is true."
She nodded. "Mhm, sometimes I just gotta bake somethin. If I have a reason? It's even better cause then more than just me is eatin' it." She chuckled, her curls bouncing a bit. "My mama loved to bake when I was growing up. It's somethin' we did together. She loved to make pies though. I love to bake just about anything." She moved to sit down for a moment.
Pete listened to what she was telling him. "You know where to find me if you bake stuff and you didn't want to eat it by yourself." He said. Maybe that wasn't the best thing. Unless it was something healthy. Pete looked back at her. "I didn't really do any of that growing up."
"He's already made a few pointed statements towards me and Charlotte about him wanting a sibling. You should have seen her eyes, they nearly exploded. She thought I put him up to it. I think he would love to babysit honestly." Not that Cooper would every say no to kids - he worked with them, understood them better than most adults. He had always wanted to be a dad, he just didn't always know if he would do well in the position. Things with mason had been going well at least. "Do you want to ride with me or meet there?" The words were second nature, familiar after nights before that they did things very similar.
"I can imagine her reaction to that." He said. "You know I would be up for having him babysit." Pete told him. When it came to children, he would love for Lucas to have siblings, but he would have to find the right woman for that. And he knew he wouldn't have more with Violet. Hearing what Cooper said to him, he thought for a moment. "Oh, I will ride with you, if that is okay." Pete said.
"Plus, if you get to know him and you like him, I'm sure he'd be down to baby sit sometime for you two. For payment, of course." Cooper grinned, putting his phone into his pocket as he nodded. He knew that Pete would love Mason. He didn't know how anyone couldn't. "Oh yeah, let's go. Sam is going to meet us there, and Jake said he'll try but he might be a bit." At least they weren't just saying no. It had been a while since they had all actually hung out aside from at the clinic. They hadn't had a guys night in what felt like forever.
"Oh, I don't mind paying him, if he wants to baby sit sometimes." Pete said. He didn't say anything about the fact he had said you two. It wasn't like he and Violet lived together. Hearing Cooper, he nodded. "Lets go." He said as he grabbed his jacket and put it on before following him out.
Cooper had just opened his mouth to reply, to say something about how Violet just knew how to get under all of their skin, when he heard Pete ask that they move on. He could be pigheaded when it came to a lot, he could push his friends when he thought it was important, but he knew better than to push just then. Instead all he did was make a motion like he was locking up his mouth, tossing the 'key' over his shoulder. "You need to really speak with him some time, Pete. I think he's smarter than I can even realize, man. I've thought about if I'm not doing enough before." Pushing himself to his feet, he glanced at his phone once more.
Pete noticed that he had been about to say something and then stopped. Of course it had been about his ex-wife. He was glad Cooper had decided against it. "I would love to." He said when he mentioned about his son. He watched as he got to his feet. "Ready to go?" He asked.

“Oh I heard you had come back after being gone for a while. I thought a little surprise would be nice. I made it myself. I’m a pretty good baker if I do say so myself. It’s just apple cinnamon bread. But it’s totally okay to pass on it.” She insisted, with a soft smile. “I just like doin’ things for people. Someone told me that means my love language is a weird mix of like acts of service and gift giving. I’m rambling. Sorry.” She blushed when she was nervous.
"You did?" He asked. Pete looked at the apple cinnamon bread in front of him. "Oh, I am not going to pass on it. I can't say anyone has made any of me before." He said. "Thank you." Pete looked at her. "You are not rambling. And even if you were, I don't mind that. I have had worse." He smiled.

Pete had been sat in the kitchen area at the practice. He had recently come back to work after everything. He was thinking about things when he noticed food being put down in front of him. Looking to see who it was who had brought it in, he tilted his head a bit. "Whats this for?" He asked.
Cooper couldn't help but raise his eyebrows at Pete's words, knew that his friend was right. He also knew Violet though, and knew what his best friend was capable of. "Usually sure, but man, you know Vi. If she gets into a bad mood, or you two are fighting? She'll find something she can say you did wrong. She's done it to me a few times, it always sucks. She just jabs." As the last word left his lips, he did the motion with his hand as well, jabbing out in front of him. It was stupid, and he was just kind of talking to talk at that point, glancing at his phone once more. "Well, I am married to Charlotte, eventually her stupid learning was going to rub off on me. Plus Mason is sort of brilliant, dude. That kid is great."
"Mmm, yes. Half the time what she says I did wrong isn't true at all." He said. He knew that there had been times when he might have done something wrong. Or something wrong in her eyes, but it really annoyed him when she did this when others were around making him look as if he was always wrong. "Can we not talk about her anymore?" Pete said. Hearing what Cooper said, he nodded. "You have a point there with the two of them."
Cooper didn't bother trying to not not nod at Pete's words, his lips pulling into a wide grin. "That's because you know Violet and you know that she's done it several times before." A quiet chuckle left his lips as he spoke, a small part of him missing his friend. Things had been hard over the last few months - hell, the last year, and he felt like he hadn't seen her. "I doubt that she'll stop, even with you two not together anymore. She'll find something wrong about how you are with the kid and you know it." His eyes stopped moving with Pete did, eyebrows raising as he glanced around. "Pete, it was already tidy in here when I walked. You'd have a conniption trying to work in my office."
"Many times before." Pete said when he said about how he knew Violet. He had nothing against Cooper being friends with Violet. He could trust him. "Oh, she won't. If there is anything she can't find wrong is how I am with Lucas. I mean, who did she bring him to when she went off and did whatever she did? Me. So she can find anything wrong about me but not how I am as a father." He said. "I would have a what?" He laughed. "When did you swallow a dictionary?" Pete asked.
Cooper took a moment to think about that, if he had any issues about the man that he was currently talking to. For as much as Violet vented to him through out their marriage and subsequent divorce, there really wasn't. None of it had really changed the doctor's mind on his friend, and he didn't think anything would. "Don't worry, I'll go to Violet if I need to rant about you. She's always down to listen to me whine about you." He laughed quietly as he spoke, eyes continuing to follow the man around as he continued. "I don't think even your patients will notice if one of your books isn't put in the perfect location, man."
Pete noticed that he was quiet for a moment, knowing he was probably thinking about what he had just said. Hearing what Cooper finally said back to him, Pete raised an eyebrow. "Well, that doesn't surprise me. Although it would surprise me even less if it was her whining to you about me." He said. Stopping what he was doing for a moment, he looked at Cooper. "It isn't in the perfect location. Its just so its tidier than it was."
Cooper's eyes moved back to Pete as he spoke, one side of his mouth pulling up into a small smile. "I'm sorry, man. I mean, I know the last year has been a lot for you too, I"m not trying to throw a pity party. It's just hard for me to let it go sometimes." It wasn't easy for Coop to reach out to other people, even with Charlotte. He was still getting used to having people around that cared more than just by a passing glance. Feeling his phone vibrate on his lap, the pediatrician grabbed it to glance at before nodding. "Sam's down. I'll tell him where to meet us once we decide." For a second he watched Pete clean up around his office, chuckling under his breath something about 'neat freak'. "Sure you will man."
"Don't worry about it." He said. "You can moan about stuff to me as much as you like. As long as it isn't about me." He smiled as he said this. Pete noticed him pick up his phone and loko at it. "I knew he wouldn't say no." He told him. As he was cleaning up, Pete had heard what Cooper had said under his breath. "Hey. You treat kids. Kids are used to things not being tidy. I can't say the same about mine."
