I think in general people don’t hate child abuse as much as they think they do

People hate child abuse until they know the abuser, until they had a good interaction with the abuser once, until the victim is too angry, until it’s “not that bad,” until the abuser just knows better, until the abuser does something nice, etc. etc.

It’s incredible to me how normalized it all is. How people are quick to recognize when a partner is abusing someone but the exact same behavior done from a parent to a child is just normal. Even just ‘small’ things like constantly looking through their phone, controlling who they can see and what they can do, etc. is toxic for an adult to do to another adult but for some reason ok to do to a child who literally cannot get away and is still developing? Okay lol.
