Small sample size but I see no reason to assume a normal distribution. Cute, though.

If you assume Poisson distrubution, since it looks like there might be an exponential curve going on there, the expectation that LIFE will be negative increases to around 0.3% (original should be 0.2%, not 0.02% don’t know how they messed that up). Also, the variance increases a bit from 7.5 to 8.

But why assume any distribution? If we bootstrap our data w 10000 observations than 0 falls 5.88 standard errors away from the sample mean (8), which is much less likely than 0.2% in most any distribution.

Anyway LIFE (as defined in this paper) is almost guaranteed to be positive keep your head up. :)
