It's a special kind of feeling, when you conceive an idea for a drum set, see it through to production, and then it gets a great review in @modern_drummer ! I used to play this set up, though...I always looked like a bear on a motorcycle with this kind of set up. The smaller sizes are definitely easier to play. I feel like I would overplay on a kit like this though.

We interrupt the usual programming to present one of the first snare drums I ever played. This is an early 70's Premier 2000. I think it's aluminum, and plated in chrome. Just got the snare strainer replaced after what feels like an eternity. Still sounds like a million bucks!

Kristen and I both had trouble sleeping last night. There seemed to a disturbance in the force...the only way I know how to put it. David Bowie is part of our existence in a very real and tangible way. Kristen has been a huge fan for years, and I like to say she really opened me up to quite a bit of his work. It's impossible to consider yourself a musician, and not have at least a cursory knowledge of his work. We spent all Sunday listening to his amazing new record, Blackstar. At no time, did I think I was listening to his last record...
