Following the conclusion of the investigation into her death, Ashlee’s fiancé Joe McCann has shared further details about what he says were struggles she was facing in the weeks leading up to her passing.
According to McCann, Ashlee’s mental health began to deteriorate after receiving difficult medical news. He claimed doctors had informed her that she “may struggle to carry children,” something he says deeply affected her emotionally.
McCann also alleged that Ashlee had previously spoken about suicide and described several incidents during the weeks before her death that he says left him increasingly concerned about her wellbeing.
These comments come after authorities in Zanzibar, Tanzania announced that their investigation had concluded and determined Ashlee’s death to be a suicide linked to mental distress. Investigators stated that evidence reviewed included text messages, farewell messages and ChatGPT searches relating to suicide methods that were allegedly made prior to her death.
Ashlee’s passing sparked worldwide attention, with many people closely following the case and seeking answers in the months following her death.
