happiest of birthdays to @butlerhq
Press for Superman has been going on a little while now, and I feel like the constant theme for myself is being completely out of touch with most everything in recent pop culture. Like I can't tell you if I'm having a brat summer, because I have no idea what that means. Don't ask me what my favorite song release from the last year is, because chances are good I haven't heard any songs from that timeframe. I feel like reporters are often either frustrated by me or mystified by me for having no idea about these things. Though lucky for them, my costars are there to carry me through by explaining things and make up for me being completely clueless with all their knowledge. So, when someone compared me to Miranda Priestley and her assistants for how much they have to feed me information, I got excited because hey, I actually recognized that reference. I'll be happy when press is over and I can retreat back into my world of old time jazz, Star Wars, and my daughter. But in the meantime, while I'm still doing press, if you haven't seen Superman, do us all a solid and check it out. | @gonehollywoodstarters
i'm laughing a little bit because i have a feeling you don't know a single one of my songs -- since i'm very much part of recent pop culture and have had a few hits released over the last year and then some. but you know what? i love that you don't, that's part of your charm, love, and you can't tell me differently! and the only way a reporter would be frustrated with you is if they're a dick -- because otherwise you're a treat, and i'm sure everyone else thought the same. and i love that you had your costars helping you with pop references, though, and it makes me wonder if they teased you about helping you, though? i hope that you're done with press though and you've gotten to retreat to your world, especially if you're listening to old time jazz, which is gorgeous music by the way. plus, star wars? how can you go wrong with that, right? nor can you go wrong when you've got a little one either -- so i hope you're getting lots of time with her right now too! funnily enough, i've had some shows, so i couldn't see superman until tonight, which i just got back from doing with my baby brother. it's safe to say, we both loved it! you did the suit proud, love, and your superman was so fantastic, i can see why they picked you. i also walked away with a slight crush on lex luthor, which was new for me, since i didn't know i was into bald dudes, but i think it was all that confidence. || @corenswethq
wishing a happy birthday to @kochhq
I get that when success on that level feels a little unreal, though can't deny a lot of people love your music and relate to it. And I appreciate that, I hope you end up enjoying the film when it comes out! I feel like I've been so busy that I haven't been able to travel much outside of seeing Z, though I'll have to come see a show of yours when things calm down some, and hope you'll have another tour up your sleeve. I agree most of us have to be a little crazy in this business because it doesn't exactly lend to sanity, you know? Even if it's just a little. I don't know, I always eat my favorite Skittles first because there's nothing like ripping the bag open and having that be the first taste, especially if I haven't had them in a while. It's nice of you to share your Skittles with the dancers too, since they're going through everything with you while you're on the road, right? Hey, if you remember to do your rituals before heading out on stage, it's averting disaster, technically! So at least you did that. I appreciate that you'd share the red Skittles with me when I know they're your favorites, and I'd share them with you too. Working with Cher is always brag worthy too! Are you guys recording a song together or something else? Citrus is a great scent, and it's always a little nostalgic for me, so that makes it easy for me to layer when it comes to roles. Patchouli is one I didn't think you'd throw out as an option, I like that! But I can say you're pretty close with the others you've chosen. though I bet Feyd has a bit of secret sauce that you wouldn't guess. Of course, because they wouldn't be friends otherwise if they didn't appreciate your strangeness in some way and even root it on, right? Of course, and we'll have to have a drink before we leave Louisville too! Are you having a fun weekend? | @duaed
it's still a bit crazy to me that so many people love my music and relate to it -- i didn't think i'd ever get this big, you know? i've seen your name for a lot of different films lately, love. are you filming right now? or are you getting to travel with z anywhere? or is she filming, and you're with her while she films? well, i'm on a bit of a break until september, thankfully, then it's the us part of the tour, so you can catch a show when we're in the us, how does that sound? we should be in some places that you and z can get too, because i want you both there! exactly! i feel like sanity and this industry don't go hand in hand -- but that's part of the fun, right? at least it's part of the fun for me anyway. see, i'm glad someone understands my need to eat my favorite skittles, and it makes me wonder what your favorite skittles are. which ones do you like to eat the most? and of course, though i tend to share everything i can with my dancers because, like you said, they go through everything with me while we're on the road. they work their butts off, honestly! yeah, the one time i forgot my rituals, it was a mess, so i'll never do that again, i can promise you that! and of course, you're a good friend, austin, so of course i would share my red skittles with you! i still can't believe i got to work with cher, it's surreal. and we're not recording a song together, yet, though i am trying to make that happen. but we did perform a song together live at the rock and roll hall of fame! i agree that citrus is a great scent, it's one of those scents that always make things feel and smell fresh, you know? and i love that it makes it easy for you to layer when it comes to roles. i feel like patchouli just goes well with darker scents, you know? or more masculine scents, i should say! but i'm excited that you feel i was close -- and honestly, it makes me laugh thinking about feyd even smelling good, you know? thank you for taking the time to have a drink with me when we were all in louisville, it was good to see you and z! and it was a fun time there in general. i've never been to the kentucky derby before and i had so much fun. watching horses race was rather interesting! though, we'll have to meet up sometime in the near future to hang out, right now i'm just traveling all over europe since i don't have to go back on tour until september -- even though i should be putting in work in the studio, but i'll get to that. || @butlerhq
I saw it, and of course thought it was a lot of fun, especially for having you in it! Seriously, Barry White has such an iconic voice that how could you not love it, you know? And there are definitely worse songs to have stuck in your head than one of his! I'd probably laugh at myself if I tried to hit notes that deep, given I can't make my voice go that register. Though like you said, it's fun to try! and just natural yours would sound better since you're the talented musician and all. We could trade my brothers for your sister? Because I'm with that deal, count me in! And I guess I'd want mine back eventually too, though depends on the day. I didn't know you had a little brother too! How old is he? I know you'll take good care of them, or they'll drive you crazy enough to send them back, either or. And he does have music out, under Walker Koch! I mean, I'm the cutest in the family, naturally, so no, but at least he's got the same genes. You're already the best, love, thank you! Honestly, just talking about Wham songs is making me want to listen to them, and like you said, dance around to them too! Always on the lookout for new friends myself, so happy to claim you as a friend! Speaking of bops, I can say the same about your music, that it always makes me want to dance around! | @duaed
thank you, love. that means a lot -- and honestly, that made me want to do more acting! and right? his voice is perfect, and it's music to make love to, as they always say, and it's hard to get his songs out of your head! i have a deepish voice for a woman, i know, but yeah, i can't get my voice to go that low, i tried. i sounded like a frog that was croaking! but i feel like yours would sound just as good as mine if you tried, even if i am a musician! oh, i like the idea of trading your brothers for my sister! she would love you! and i love that we're going to trade with each other but agree that we'd want them back at some point. but to be fair, my sister is my best friend, and i would be so lost without her! and my little brother is 19, so he's young yet! but i feel like he'd get along with you pretty well while i have your brothers, of course! oh, your brothers can keep me company while i finish up my first leg of my tour! i mean, until they drive me crazy and i send them back, that is! and i ended up giving him a listen, and he's got a gorgeous voice! plus, i saw his tiktoks and he is pretty adorable. though i love how you just have to put it out there that you're the cutest in the family, and honestly, i say the same thing in my family too. right? and the minute you start listening to wham, then they're stuck in your head for days! plus, i love dancing around to them as well. and lately i've been on a men at work kick too! and good, because i think we're going to be awesome friends -- and it was so great to finally meet you in kentucky, by the way! i was so glad i could get away from tour for a little bit to go! and you're so sweet, thank you! i'm hoping to release some new music soon once my tour is over so you'll have some more music to dance around too! and i just saw on twitter earlier that they're putting you up for consideration for an emmy? and i got to say i really hope you get the emmy nod, love. after watching monsters, you really, really deserve it. || @kochhq
That's wonderful when you're constantly doing performances you're proud of, and seems the perfect note to set for a tour! Festivals are a lot of fun for seeing and hearing artists you've not heard of before, even if I'd be hard-pressed to believe there are people who don't at least know who you are! Though I imagine they're fun to debut new music for your fans as well, yeah? The End did far better than I was expecting, and I'm so proud of it and our cast! You'll certainly have to let me know if you check out the other musicals I've been in as well, and tell me what you think of them! That's exactly it, that we've always to find what works best for us, even if it fascinates me some seeing others' processes. Elton John does seem like quite the incredible person, so I'm not surprised in the least! Plus like you said, he seems like he's just brimming with wisdom about life to share. I can't blame you there, since after all, it's a special ring having come from him! Oh no, I doubt anyone had that attitude about your acting, even if I know it has to come with the usual nerves when you're doing something new. But I'm sure you've done amazingly and you'll do the same with whichever projects you choose in the future! Are you working on any films or projects right now that I should keep an eye out for? That drink sounds like quite the combination, I can't lie! Now I've to ask what inspired that! Is it part of a vocal warm-up routine? And are you still adding the Skittles with that? I'll certainly have to give Vance Joy a listen and see what he's about! It's a rough thing having to choose a favorite Dylan song, but probably It Ain't Me Babe if I'd to choose just one. How about you? | @duaed
i will say that my current tour has been going so amazing -- every city has been so brilliant, i feel blessed with every show that i do! that's true about festivals, and i've always loved getting introduced to new artists thanks to going to festivals as well, some of my favorite bands i've found that way! but i hope people walked away from hearing me at the festival happy with what they heard, if they were new fans or old, you know? and you're right, it's always fun to debut new music for the fans there as well, or sing songs you've not in a while to show your appreciation to them! the end was so good, though, i can see why it did so well -- and you had such a fantastic cast for it also. i loved it! and i watched your other musicals as well, and you're so talented. why don't you sing more? do you sing a lot at home? it always fascinates me to see other people's processes as well, and it often makes me feel less awkward about mine. elton is one of those people that i'm forever going to be thankful that he's in my life, he's like that fun uncle i've always wanted! not that i don't have fun uncles, but they're not elton john. you're very kind to say that, thank you. i'll still probably be nervous about any acting projects i take on. right now my world tour is far too crazy for any films or projects -- but i've already talked with a few people about some things once i am done touring, so if that happens, i will let you know for sure! it's an acquired taste, that's for sure. and honestly? my throat was really raspy, well, raspier than normal, and i was trying random things, and that was the one drink that worked! so yes, it is part of the vocal warm-up routine now! now it sounds crazy when i admit that i am still adding skittles with that, doesn't it? and good, you'll have to let me know when you give vance a listen what you think! and that's an amazing bob dylan song, so that's a good one to choose. i think my favorite dylan song is tangled up in blue, though i'm with you that it's rough having to choose a favorite. || @mackayhq
Do you ever have those random moments when you realize being an adult is such a great thing? Looking past all the ways it's sometimes stressful, I mean, and just embracing the personal perks of adulthood? For instance, my parents used to only allow us one, maybe two sugary treats a month in our household, and that's if we were lucky. So of course now, I eat desserts damn near every day, and there's always a lot of excitement around having cupcakes or donuts or iced coffee, all the things I know would have made my parents cringe. Not to mention all the occasions for celebratory cake. And I always do that with a lot of delight because hey, I can make or order and eat as many treats as I'd like. Never claimed I was a responsible adult, but you know, if that means having sweets, that's fine with me. So, what's your favorite part about adulthood? And if it's eating sweets like it's the case with me, maybe we can share some cupcakes. | @gonehollywoodstarters
i love those random moments of realization that being an adult is awesome -- especially when you're getting to do something you couldn't do when you were younger. so it's safe to say that i'm always embracing those perks of adulthood. my parents were sort of like that with sweets as well, but i feel like they were a lot more strict when it came to drinking soda pop. so now i find myself having a diet coke every day, and i eat a lot of skittles as well -- especially since i have a whole thing about skittles before i perform. and every time you celebrate, you should always have a cake. i agree with that. though, what's your favorite sweet treat that you like to make? because i love making treats myself, even though i don't get to much lately since i'm on a big tour. so, it's safe to say i'm on the same side as you when it comes to the best part of adulthood -- and if i weren't in a whole different country as you, probably, unless you're in germany that is, i'd love to share some cupcakes with you! in fact, i was at a bakery earlier, and they had these gorgeous black forest cupcakes, and now you've got me thinking about going back to get them! || @dastmalchianhq

It's only the truth that you're always a hot commodity though! Me, maybe sometimes if I'm lucky. I can completely understand nerves before shows, though I can't ever see you screwing things up, personally! So no surprise the festival went swimmingly. And now that you've officially seen one of my shows from the fall tour, I hope it was everything and you enjoyed yourself! Though difficult not to when it comes to anything to do with Charli. Of course I wanted clips of your concert though! Gave me complete FOMO, but it was worth it. And it's always amazing to hang out and gossip with you anywhere we are, so I'm always up for that. We'll have to do that on the upcoming trip too, don't you think? Well, that's exactly what my mind is, Swiss cheese with holes that lets everything slip through. We'll have to go on tour together then, and make sure we have a industrial sized packages of Skittles to make sure we have all the luck for it, don't you think? We'll even separate the reds and purples for pre-and post performance. I'm excited he got nominated for a Grammy for that diss track, and honestly, I'll also be excited to potentially meet Kendrick there, if I'm lucky. I have to say that ring is positively gorgeous and I'd be wearing it everywhere too, never thinking about taking it off, basically. You can say I've been doing some riding in a cowboy hat indeed, and it's a lot of fun. You'll have to let me know if the hack of staring at your feet ends up working for you, too. I don't really sing songs as I do mostly random words and vocal exercises, which probably makes everyone around me laugh, if we're honest! Though I'd join in on singing songs with you after those! You really can't go wrong with Bowie or Elton John if you ask me. And of course, because you know I love you for embracing both your strangeness and mine! Yeah, he's got two kids and his oldest is two now! He had a great birthday and I was happy we were able to give him a party at home. I'm so glad you had your family on tour with you, love! I know it makes it so much easier when you have them there. I'm so glad the shows in Poland went well, and I hope the rest of the tour did too! Though I saw you're coming to Australia in March?! You know I'm going to be there for at least one of your shows, probably drag Alex along with me. You know I'd love to go topless horseback riding next time we have the opportunity, so you can count me all the way in, love. I was right the first time though, you're my idol! Did you end up having a good holiday season? And please tell me you're doing something fun for a break before you're back on the road again! | @duaed
you're crazy if you don't think you're a hot commodity -- because you very much are, my friend! you're sweet to say that you can never see me screwing things up, and so far i've done a good job at not making an ass out of myself on stage, but you never know! believe me, you know i loved every minute of your fall show, you did such an amazing job. you and charli were crazy good together, and i can't help but wish we'd all three do a tour together. what do you think? should we make that happen? oh, i love when we get to hang out and gossip with each other when we're in the same place, and i'm glad we got together in norway and did just that! though can we talk about how cold it was? i was pretty sure i could poke people's eyes out it was so damn cold. i'm cracking up that you just called your mind swiss cheese -- you're too cute i hope you know that! you know i'm all for us going on tour together, even more so if we throw charli in with us! and the more skittles the better sounds like a great idea because that means we'll all have the best of luck! and i love that we're going to separate the reds and purples too, even though it'll be a lot of work, it'll be worth it in the end! i still can't believe he won all the grammys that he did for that diss track. that was crazy, but i loved every minute of it. i'm just sad that i couldn't go -- but did you get to meet him while you were there? which you looked gorgeous, by the way! and speaking of gorgeous rings, even though i'm pretty sure i might have said it to your face a few times, congrats on your engagement! i'm so happy for you and alex, you two are the cutest together, and i just know you're going to make the most handsome grooms. look at you riding in a cowboy hat, i approve and i have a feeling alex approves as well. so, i've given the staring at my feet a try and it did work for me, so i'm going to use that more often! and i love that you do the most random words and vocal exercises when you warm up, that makes my day, honestly. i'll sing the songs and you just throw in some random words here and there, okay? and you really can't go wrong with bowie and elton, i agree with that fully! i love you too, so you know i'm always going to embrace your strangeness and mine, especially since you embrace mine, you know? well, since i've gotten to meet the kids now i can just tell you how adorable they are, and they look so much like alex, especially his son! you're also so good with them, and i can't stress enough how happy it makes me to see you so happy, love. my family is on this tour with me as well, as you know, and i'm so lucky because i miss them so much when i'm gone -- which i know you understand! also, thank you so much for performing with me while i was in melbourne, that meant so much to me and it was so fun having you on stage and dancing with you! plus, i loved making tiktoks with you too! of course i was happy to see alex as well. does he have any single brothers? i feel like i need me a tall swede! i almost suggested we go topless horseback riding in norway, but we probably would have died, so how about we do that at the kentucky derby weekend? i'm sure we can get some horses and find somewhere to ride topless in kentucky? i say, like i know anything about the state of kentucky. pssh, you're my idol, i don't know what you're talking about! and i had the best holiday season, even spent some time with an ex and had a good time, of course, it sparked engagement rumors with him, but it was fun nonetheless! did you have a good holiday? and we just finished up in auckland, and now i'm off until may 11th when we start the tour up again in spain. i'm going to sleep for two weeks, i think. || @sivanhqs
