Would you care if Reala ceased his own existence?

... ... Of course.

We have been through some difficult times, yes, and things haven't been friendly between us for so long now... But when it comes down to it, he is still the Nightmaren that made me smile when times were tough for me. He made me happy when I needed it, he was my light in the darkness.

... I am a live in the moment kind of being. But... Even I look back now and then and wish that I could have brought him with me when I first ran away.

I don't think there's anything else worse that I could think of happening than losing him.

But why was he targeted? Why at that moment?

... He may have been losing sight of himself.

Ideya is easy to take if a dreamer is feeling vulnerable or anxious about a certain thing. If something is plaguing their mind, it will show in their dreams, and that is when Nightmarens strike. It's much harder to take the Ideya of a dreamer who feels the strength of it, rather than a dreamer who is doubting.

Do you remember a time when a blue hedgehog ran through Nightmare? Why was he there?

I remember many times I have seen that same blue hedgehog! That's Sonic! He's a funny looking hedgehog.

He must have been dreaming. From what I can recall, his Ideya had been taken by six Nightmarens, but along with those six Nightmarens were mirages of those he was frighten off at the time. 

He's a strong one, I must admit. He managed to get back his Ideya without my help at all. I didn't even realise there was a visitor running around until Reala disappeared and I heard of some Nightopians being held in a cage somewhere. When I arrived, he was already heading towards the cage to save the Nightopians.

... I wonder if he ever beat those six that he was afraid of in the waking world... Hmm...

"I like to think, unlike some other Nightmarens I won’t mention by name.”

If you were going to say me, you might as well go ahead and say it!

It should be clear that I use my head far more than you do anyway!

"I didn’t even do anything this time. You just decided to pick a fight."

That's exactly why I'm annoyed, Reala.

You don't do anything! Don't you find it boring?

"Don’t you think I know that…? Arrrrgh, what did I ever do to that Visitor to deserve this? Perhaps a dead one would make it go away?”

... I... Suppose one that was already dead would be okay? I mean, he or she would already be dead, correct?

One is still a life you would have eaten away! You can resist! They're your friends, not your food!

For some reason, that suggestion made Reala seize with panic. Oops. “L-lay down?” Nope. That only made him tighten his grip on NiGHTS, out of desperation to keep her there. It hurt, it hurt, it hurt, and the agony seeped clear as day into his tone of voice— “Don’t go anywhere! I don’t wanna… You’ll leave.” He was actually getting incredibly upset about this, not even to a minor degree; his body even began to shake. In his mind, NiGHTS had turned her back to him one too many times, and he’d practically lost everything. He couldn’t lose everything again.

Ow!! Reala, that hurts!

-Youch, his grip was getting far too tight for NiGHTS' liking, and she squirmed to attempt to loosen his grip and shake him off. What in the name of Nightmare had gotten into him? He was practically freaking out because she had mentioned laying down? He was perfectly fine with it a few days ago, heck they even slept next to each other! Why was he so upset about it now--

'You'll leave.'

She froze in her place at that. She'll leave? Wait, wait... Is this why he was so upset? Because she had left all those years ago? She thought they were passed that by now. It was long ago and she was here now, but... He was freaking out over it.-

I don't know what you are talking about, Reala. I'm not leaving to go anywhere. I'm here, I don't want to be anywhere else. I'm asking you lay down because you're acting strange. If it'll make you feel better, I sit right next to you and stay there?

A comment that normally would’ve irritated Reala just flew right over his head this time. “I don’t sound strange,” he tried to sound firm, but he ended up sounding a bit too affectionate for comfort instead. He clamped his arms on NiGHTS, not letting her go. It didn’t take long, though, before his tone became slightly accusatory, “Yuh left. ‘s okay, though…” He giggled drunkenly. “‘cause…’cause y’won’t leave again, riiight?”

-Okaay then. That hold was a little too tight for her liking. In fact, Reala was being far too affectionate for her liking. Reala was never like this! And NiGHTS preferred him when he wasn't clinging to her. And what...? He was accusing her of leaving? But she barely went anywhere. She went to Nightopia and came back, she always did that though.-

Reala, I didn't leave you? I went to Nightopia and came back like I always do. Are you sure you're all right? I think you might need to lay down.

Well, that immediately perked the Nightmaren up. All the doubt that had been there completely washed away and Reala practically flung himself at NiGHTS. “N-NiGHTS!” Hiccup! "Yuh-yer here! Where ya… Where ya been?" All of the Visitors’ taunts were momentarily forgotten — as was NiGHTS’s question.

-He flung himself at her, and she flinched, if only because gee, she'd seen him move quickly before but not as quick as that and it was unexpected. Was he okay? His speech seemed off... And those hiccups?-

In Nightopia...? Where I normally am?

Are you okay, Reala? You sound strange.

Reala grimaced, and with a huff he crossed his arms, doing his best to telegraph how absolutely displeased he was with this assessment that NiGHTS had just made of him. “You are the second NiGHTS to have said that now,” he grumbled, “and for the record, no, I am not 'adorable'. I'm scary — the greatest of Master Wizeman's creations. I collect more Ideya than the rest of his Nightmarens combined. You'd do well to respect that.” He narrowed his eyes, which probably would've looked ten times more threatening if he wasn't three-fifths NiGHTS's size.

-But, Reala's frown was never threatening to NiGHTS. In fact, by frowning at her, he was only making himself look around fifty times cuter. Not to mention he had to go and huff and cross his arms. Gee, he was adorable. She was resisting the urge to just swoop him up into her arms and run off with him.-

Yes, yes. You're scary if you want to be, sweetie.

-And she leant down to his height to ruffle her hand against the top of his head. He was too cute!!-

Reala sighed.

"As I’ve explained before — countless times now — I’m a Second Level, not a First Level like you are. In my Night Dimension, ranks are determined by Ideya collected. I wish to become a First Level eventually.

"So yes, that would mean I am smaller than you."

-She can't help it. Nope, she can't resist. What he said to her went in through one ear and out the other because wowee... He was adorable!! And she stared down at him, wide eyed, trying not to grin from ear to ear as she watched him.-

... Aww...

-She finally let slip. She couldn't help it. It was a tiny Reala! How could she not find that cute?-

... You're adorable.
