There’s a knife in your dick, yeah.
I was born in the war. Bred into it. People think they understand pain, but they have no concept of it. What’s the most pain you’ve ever felt?

Sometimes the ends justify the means, no matter the cost to your soul.
“I don’t know if I can actually promise you that but...we’ll play it by ear, ok?”
He didn’t want to stand her up or make her promises he couldn’t keep but there was no telling where he’d need to be in even five hours from now. There was always something going on and somewhere else he needed to be.
“You know I would if I could but...there’s people who need me, at all hours of the day and night.”
He loved her home. Because it was just that, a home. Even to him. Even only knowing her for only a month, it felt as if he’d lived there with her for eternity. He wouldn’t change anything about it or her or the way she made him feel when they were together.
He also loved how they treated one another. She’d made him dinner after he came to her shows, something he insisted over and over again that she didn’t need to do. He could very well make them dinner but, she insisted. Every second he spent with her felt like he was in heaven.
“…You know, you don’t have to make me dinner. I could have made you dinner.”
“You know what I’m going to say to that. I like making you dinner…. and it comes with dessert after every single time.”
Vanessa winked at him before standing up. She motioned for him to follow her, to head home for the night. She closed the piano and pushed in the bench. Taking a hold of his hand, Vanessa lead him off stage and out of the bar into the cool fall night.
Her place wasn’t far from where they were and with a couple minutes filled of talking and her singing little snippets of songs to him, they were nice and warm inside. Vanessa dropped her stuff by the front door and went right over to the oven to get ready to heat up the food. She hummed as she moved around the kitchen.
“Beer?”
“Beer sounds perfect to me.”
He joined her in the kitchen, helping himself and helping her out with anything she needed to be done by him. He loved being with her, he loved doing anything domestic with her. It felt like they’ve been together forever. They meshed really well with one another. Him being with her made him feel like he wasn’t as alone as he had been for a very long time.
“So, how was the beginning of your day...the parts where I wasn’t in them.”

“Every time we do this I fall more in love with you. We need to stop.”
“You’re the one who keeps coming to my shows, metal man.”
Vanessa was practicing her songs for her next show when she heard the familiar voice off stage. She didn’t glance back at him but instead simply patted the spot next to her on the piano bench.
He basically lunged onto the stage and took a seat next to her. This must have been his fourth week coming to see her perform. By the second week, he had made sure to sit in the front, close enough to see her clearly.
“You sounded amazing tonight, as usual.”
