“Well, I’m a shite dancer, for one.” He said with a laugh. Bertha looked like she was having fun, though, and that was good. Someone ought to be enjoying themselves. Kingsley probably would too, if he ever managed to settle down and relax. “And large crowds tend to make me a bit nervous.”

“I doubt you are terrible. Nobody is that bad if you just have fun with it.” That was her way of viewing things. If you can have fun with it, then it can’t be bad. “Large crowds? Hm. Well I can’t help with hat one, but maybe I can help with the dancing part.” She smiled softly.

“You know,” Kingsley said, standing off to the side of the Great Hall. “I’ve never really been a fan of dances, but this one’s not too awful.” Granted, he had shown up a good hour late, and several awful things could’ve happened while he stalled up in his dorm. But by now most people had found their friends, and didn’t seem overly interested in pushing drinks into his hands or even worse, asking him to dance.

Bertha had been having the time of her life. She was dancing with anyone who seemed like they needed a dance. Somehow she had managed to talk someone into giving her some shots of firewhiskey.

“Are you serious? Dances are amazing.” She twirled up to the male, grinning. Bertha moved closer to the other student. “Why do you hate dances?”

Already this place was doing his head in, everywhere looked so … nice. It was disgusting, or at least for him it was too false, and he didn’t quite understand how people enjoyed it. Nevertheless he was here, and he would be for the rest of the night so he may as well plant a fake smile on, and somehow find some drink. If the rest of his friends were enjoying the night then he would be damned if he was sat alone, for than anything he would loathe how sad and pathetic that would make him. Amycus was just about to head towards the drink table – although he doubted there would be anything good there, he heard a familiar voice, but as he turned to face the female at first glances he wasn’t completely sure who it was. Before he could even answer her she had dragged him to where other couples were dancing, and he felt like he would vomit any minute. Amycus Carrow did not dance, and yet here he was awkwardly in the middle of the gathered students with a girl that he may, or may not know, swaying gracelessly to the music. At her words, he frowned a little, because her voice was certainly familiar, but he was surprised by how that didn’t mean it was easy to know who the person was when their face was covered up. However, it was when he let his hands stray from her hips, south over her behind which was when he was pretty damn sure he knew who the girl was. Still, for now he kept that information to himself. “And what do I get if I get it right?” Amy asked her, bringing his hands to rest back upon her hips, but he tugged her that little bit closer to him. “Because I’m feeling pretty confident right now”

The room was perfect. It was absolutely breathtaking, and Bertha’s eyes kept darting from one decoration to the next. It was amazing what the staff could pull off in such a short amount of time.  Bertha didn’t know the song that was playing but she would dance to anything. Slow music, fast, techno, why the hell not. The current song was faster tempo, so she started swinging back and forth, trying to make the other move with her. The cocky attitude, hands wandering places, and charming voice. She could definitely tell who the other was, and she was going to make sure he knew who she was. She moved closer to the male as he tugged her closer, feeling the contact between them. Her hands moved to his hair, playing with it ever so softly. She had always had a thing for hair. If you have nice hair, she would like you. At least, presentable hair. It was a big feature on the face, she couldn’t help it if Rachel Westrolde had disgusting greasy hair and Bertha had refused to be her friend after that. She was tempted to reach down and run her hands over the globes of flesh, Amycus called a butt, however she resisted the urger, going back to what he was saying. “Well, a reward. I haven’t come up with a specific prize at the moment, but I could think of something off the top of my head. Maybe you’ll get some.” She joked, bumping the male with her hip. “Are you feeling confident? I would think twice, don’t want to get it wrong. You might just end up with you hand.” God. She just couldn’t shut her mouth tonight could she? She regretted her choice of words immediately after she spewed them out of her mouth, almost like word vomit. “Sorry. That was rude of me.” Her teeth rested on her lip, biting down softly, a small blush flushed over her face.

Amycus had never really been one for balls, mainly because he didn’t like the fact he had to make an effort and he never usually had someone to go with. Not that he did this time, but he and his friends had decided they were going to sneak in some firewhiskey and just have a good time tormenting people. That didn’t mean that he hadn’t wanted to ask someone, he had, but he knew it would be social suicide for him to turn up with the girl on his arm, especially when his friends would be so heavily against it. Dressed in a smart tuxedo, complete with bow tie, and of course the mask which would hide his identity for the evening – maybe he could get away with anything tonight and keep who he was hidden. Standing in the entrance hall, not really knowing who he was waiting for, or what, but he lingered there whilst people passed, some nodded or smiled but he couldn’t really tell who they were anyway. Maybe it wasn’t too late to just go back to his dormitory, it would sure beat whatever this night had for offer, but before he could escape he felt a tap on his shoulder. “What?” he muttered as he spun around to face the person who had disturbed his trail of thought.

Bertha kew that she wasn’t going to have a date for the ball, and she was perfectly alright with that realization. She knew that she could have just as much and possibly more fun without a date. She twirled along the outskirts of the mass of people dancing already. Her mask was itchy against her face but, she didn’t mind. Tonight was about just having fun and leaving school work and stress behind her.  She noticed a male standing, and she slowly walked over to him, tapping him on his shoulder. By the sound of his annoyed tone, she thought she might have an idea of who the male might be. “Well, mister, I was just thinking that you might want to have some fun for the night, and perhaps dance.” She took his hand without a definite answer, not venturing too far into the mass of students. She wrapped her arms around the males neck, smiling sweetly. “If you can guess who I am, you might get a reward.”

20/10/77 - Step 1: Locate a date

Amycus was arguably being very immature, and he knew that, hell he knew it but he didn’t like the idea of competition and he certainly didn’t like it when his competition was someone like James Potter. Although he did believe that he’d be able to take him on, there wasn’t much going for Potter really, in fact he didn’t understand why so many girls liked him. “That could be about anyone” he told her, his tone dull, clearly he was not going to jump at the fact she had said she was attracted to him, because at the moment he was in a strop. “Yes I have work to do, a lot of work and I don’t need your help, not that I would want your help anyway” Amy scoffed, about to pull back from her altogether and end back up to the castle where he would more than likely to just stay in his dormitory. However, when he brought his gaze to fall upon her again, lingering for longer than he had wanted, he just sighed under his breath not wanting to go anywhere. “Fuck it” he mumbled under his breath, realising he was being completely stupid, and so he moved his hands to her hips again, but instead of caressing her lower stomach like he had been doing before, he this time tugged her close to his chest. “The work I have get done is more casual than anything else” Amycus whispered against her ear, and within seconds he had pinned her up against the wall nearby, his hands keeping her arms pinned above her head, whilst he stared at her somewhat perplexed by how beautiful and attracted he was to her. Leaning in closer he didn’t waste any more time in pressing his lips against hers, the kiss softer than one may expect but it soon turned more passionate, whilst his hands let go of her arms and slid back down to rest against her stomach.

Bertha hadn’t meant him to get angry with her. She thought she was going to make him laugh with her mention of the head boy. She clearly hadn’t done what she had planned, and felt really bad. Sure, Potter was cute, but he was nothing compared to the male in front of her. Her eyes met his, and she couldn’t help but let her eyes roll over his features. She took in his dark eyes and sharp jawline. Letting out a sigh, she absentmindedly bit her lip. She tossed her hair back as Amycus closed the space between them. Her breath hitched and she let herself be complete emerged in the situation before her. “If it’s casual, then why bother when there are better things to be doing.” She spoke, her voice quiet. Suddenly her hands were above her head, and Amycus’ eyes were over her again. It wasn’t like she minded in anyway. Sure, the placement of her hands in his grip wasn’t the most comfortable, but it definitely wasn’t the worst spot they could be. She waited for his lips to come crashing against hers, and when the moment finally came, she immediately started moving her lips against his. She couldn’t help herself, the attention she had rarely gotten from anyone was rushing in like a flood and she was so taken away by it, she didn’t care who saw or made any comments. When Amycus let her hands go, she moved the from above her head, to placed on his cheeks, moving her lips faster against his. Bertha’s mind was racing, despite the fresh air flowing around them. ‘What should I do next?’ ‘I wonder if it’s good for him too.’ She moved her hands to the back of the males’ head, griping at his short hair.

“I don’t know I’m attractive, I just get told I’m good looking a lot … there’s a difference” Amy teased, although he knew he was rather vain, but he wouldn’t outwardly admit that to her. At least not for the moment because he quite liked the attention he was getting from her, and if this would happen for regularly then he was determined to give her the same level of attention. At her words he simply smiled to begin with, just enjoying the fact he was closer to her than he thought he would be earlier on. “ No, I just doubt that she is the kind of kill to jump straight into my bed, not that is what I am expecting off her anyway, you could say that I like things just the way they are at the moment” Amycus smiled, his hands sliding from her lower stomach, to the gently rest against her bum, squeezing slightly against arguably one of her best assets, but he soon moved them back to her hips just incase she didn’t appreciate it. Amycus pulled back slightly when she mentioned that there were a lot on her list and hearing her say that she was interested in the head boy, something that he would never have been because he simply got in trouble far too much, made him frown and ultimately pull away from her altogether. “It doesn’t matter, she’s not important. I forgot, I’ve got work I need to get done for tomorrow” he muttered, clearly not happy, even though there was no reason why he should be behaving this way, it wasn’t like she was his girlfriend or anything.

“Oh really?I’d love to know the difference between the two, because obviously if people tell you you’re attractive, you must know that you’re pretty cute. Not that I’m saying or anything.” Bertha laughed, he hand falling to his shoulder against. She gripped the fabric in her hands, smirking. “Well, I’d love to meet her. She seems like a super sensible lady. Tell me more about her?” Bertha was loving the attention she was getting. It was so weird for someone to be giving her such attention without her bugging the living shit out of them for a while. When the male grabbed her butt, Bertha bit her lip. She shouldn’t be moving this fast with anyone, especially someone she just had contact with, but she didn’t really care. She was going to press a kiss to the male’s neck, but he pulled away from her. She looked down at the ground, disappointed in her words. “Hey. Stop, I didn’t mean that Amycus. You know I was kidding, right?Sure Potter is pretty cool, but I’m not attracted to him in anyway.” Bertha reached out to grab Amycus’ hand, pulling him back to her. “Please. I’m sorry. Didn’t you hear the first part though?” She asked raising her eyebrow. “It was all about how I was super attracted to this twin who is super cute. I mean I totally just started talking to him,but it’s not a bad thing.” She smiled to the other. “Do you really have work to do? I could help?”

Amycus hadn’t expected for her to expose her neck to him, he had just said that in order to come across a bit of a lothario, but now he was finding himself blushing a little bit. He didn’t know why, there was no explanation for why he was nervous around her but that sudden little action had him both excited and anxious at the same time.  “I like beautiful women, and there just happens to be beautiful women all around this place. Although some of them seem to know they are, which makes them a little less… attractive” he chuckled lightly, finishing off his cigarette and then tossing the butt to the floor. Amy grinned to himself as he heard her say about wanting to know, if he told her then it wouldn’t leave much to the imagination which was what he had been trying to do, but he also wanted to know who it was on her list. Taking a step towards her, which lessened the gap between them, he took a few seconds to run his eyes up and down her body, liking what he saw, and he gently rested his hands against her hips. Amycus knew that at any second she could smack him away, and he would move back, he didn’t want her to see him as intruding on her personal space, but then again she had pretty much invited him closer. “I don’t think she’d want to sleep with me, she’s a little different to me, or at least one would assume so” Amy spoke quietly, his fingertips gently grazing over her lower stomach and waistline, as he leant his head towards hers, but instead of capturing her lips in a soft kiss, he began to pepper tender kisses along her neck where he suckled gracefully. Whether she melted from the kisses he didn’t know, but he personally was enjoying himself. If they were in a more heated, passionate moment, then he would have left her with marks that when she looked in the mirror she would see, and think of him, but he knew that right now it probably wouldn’t be appreciated. Pulling back from her neck, Amy smiled at her, but kept his fingers grazing over her lower stomach – even if she still had her clothes on. “You tell me first, then I’ll tell you”

Bertha noticed the small blush appear on Amy’s face, causing her heart to race and her own face to redden. The sound of her heart could be heard from miles away, at least she felt like it could. “People knowing they are attractive makes them less attractive? Why, that must make you the ugliest man in the school then?” She chuckled to herself, mentally high fiving herself. Whenever she thought of a good comeback, she would become a lot more giddy. As he rested his hand upon her hip, her breath hitched. She let her eyes flutter shut as she wrapped an arm around the man’s shoulder. She felt comfortable with the other, despite their short time together. Bertha shuddered as she felt the males’ plump lips press against her sensitive skin around her neck. She tried to keep herself composed as the other lightly sucked on her neck. Bertha cleared her through, trying to make sure she could speak clearly. “You think someone wouldn’t want ot sleep with you? Have you lost your game?” She played witht the small hairs on the back of the males’ neck, before he pulled away. She was breathless, but Bertha wouldn’t admit that in any way. “Well. There are a few people on the list. There is this one. He is a twin, with a sister but then there is another who is the head boy. Wouldn’t that be fun?” She said immediately taking the subject off of her . “And now it is your turn, Mr. Slytherin. Who is this elusive girl?”

“The only way I would ever consider doing something as vile as though, would be if you were also in on it. Although, I don’t like to share” Amycus smirked, exhaling another round of smoke ringlets, as he enjoyed to run his eyes over her again, he couldn’t help – she was beautiful, and the fact that she wasn’t throwing herself at him made her even more appealing. “You see right now I am pretty much keeping myself at a distance, but I think all it would really take would be to press some soft kisses to your neck and you’d practically melt in my arms.” Amycus would love to test his theory, to see how easy he could get her into his bed, but oddly he also didn’t want to ruin what they had – whatever that was, because she was quite enjoyable to be around. At the mention of her putting on some Slytherin robes, he couldn’t help but envision what she would look like in the colours of his own house, in fact he believed they’d rather suit her. “You should do that some time, I think the green and silver would look marvellous on you, really bring out your eyes” he winked, attempting to stifle a laugh. “I don’t think they’d mind all that much, well they shouldn’t do considering it’s not exactly the biggest news. My sister may not like it though, she seems to take a big interest in the people that I spend my time with, especially if they’re beautiful women” When she said about working his way up to the top of her list, he just rolled his eyes because he knew he wouldn’t even want to put in the effort. “I don’t need to work my way up on anyone’s list , if a person doesn’t want me as I am then that’s fine by me, but I won’t try to convince them otherwise, not for as long as I am doing well as I am” he smirked, sure he got a lot of girls, but that didn’t concern him as much as it used to. “That would be telling, and I don’t want it to get out who’s on my list … Besides, I don’t think it would make much difference, I don’t have much chance with her” Amy smirked, glancing ahead rather than at her. “She’s a bit of a prude anyway, so I don’t think I’ll be getting my leg over with her anytime soon”

“I think that might be able to be arranged.” Bertha smirked over to Amycus. She knew that the scenario would never play out, even if the two of them ended up together in one way or another. She closed the distance between them, pulling her hair to one side of her head. “You think so. Why don’t you try it?” She teased, tilting her head to the side, exposing her neck even more for the other. “I don’t know about melting but you’re sure welcome to try.” Bertha chuckled, shaking her head. “Why don’t you steal me some, I’ll model them some time or another, if you’re lucky.” She probably would keep this promise, as it wasn’t anything too extreme. She loved making other people laugh, or know that they could around her. “Beautiful women, you say? Is there something you would like to tell me Amycus?” Raising an eyebrow, she grinned. She knew that she was relatively pretty, and Amycus wasn’t an eyesore. “I think I might be able to take your sister on. Well, maybe.” She discarded the cigarette in the grass, stepping on it to put it out. “You don’t like to work for your conquests? I think a little work pays off in the long run, Makes the prize so much sweeter. If you know what I mean.” She threw the man a wink. She was throughly interested in who was on the other’s list of people they’d sleep with. “How about I make you a deal? You tell me the person and I’ll tell you who I want to sleep with. Promise.” He crossed her fingers to her heart, a ritual her brothers had taught her. “Prude you say?” She raised her eyebrow. “I’m surprised she isn’t falling for your charms.”

“I honestly highly doubt that there is anything at all that would make me do such a thing – besides, if I were to do such a thing then I would never live it down and I may just die of pure embarrassment” Amycus told her, it didn’t matter that he didn’t just agree with that certain way of life, but more importantly neither did his parents. “But now that you mention it , there are certainly ways of getting you to do things also, especially since it would seem that you don’t mind being around me, and having your hands on me, already” Amy smirked, in fact he was practically licking his lips every time she came near him, and he had to continually tell himself that she wasn’t interested in him in that way which was rather difficult. Taking a drag off his cigarette, he again smirked at her words, secretly wondering what his friends would say if they caught him talking to her, not that he would care what they thought anyway. “Hmm, well they may kill me in my sleep, but then again it might not even bother them at all. I’m not really sure” he shrugged, and soon nodded when she mentioned walking, heading off straight away. Casually walking through the grounds, he took occasional drags on his cigarette, before bringing his gaze to land on her again. “So considering I’m not on your list , is there anyone here that you do like?”

“I mean, only there three of us would ever know.” Bertha gave the male a look, it was clear she was joking. She wasn’t about to make anyone do something they weren’t comfortable with, especially if she didn’t even mean what she was saying. Bertha quirked her eyebrow, a smile playing on her ilps. “Oh you think there are ways of getting me to do things? I totally didn’t have my hands all over you, Carrow.” She said, shaking her head. He was going to be one to watch out for. She thought to herself. If he was going to keep up all this flirtation, she might accidentally let herself do something that she wouldn’t be proud of the next day. She let her eyes linger too long in his gaze, and she looked away. She laughed, shaking her head. “I’m sure you friends wouldn’t kill you if they were your true friends. But maybe I should just put on some Slytherin robes and tie and act like I’m one of you guys.” Bertha nudged Amycus. Her steps over the grass and leaves made a crunching noise. The sound was like music to her ears. Bertha laughed at Amycus’ words. “How do you know you aren’t on my list? I mean you look pretty fit. You might have to work your way to the top, but I’m sure you could. If you tried.” Her cigarette was almost gone, having smoked it super fast. “I have a few people on my list. Who is on your list that hasn’t already slept with you?” She smirked.

“Do you seriously want me to go into detail on how I could make your night… spectacular?” Amy was almost laughing, but at the same time he was somewhat serious.

“I don’t want you to. I expect you to.” She crossed her arms, smirking at Amycus. She was going to have fun with this, she could just tell.”Are you sure I’d have a...spectacular time?”

“I can see that you’re not like most girls” Amycus smirked right back, believing that he would have slept with her by now if she was like most girls, but the fact he hadn’t made him wonder just how easy it would be to change that. Watching as she got on her tip toes, he moved his hands to rest against her hips, although he soon removed them because he didn’t want her to blame him for crossing the line, or something pathetic like that. It was when she lowered her voice and leant in towards him that caused Amycus to get more excited, usually expecting a kiss, or maybe a cheeky nip of the lip, but at her words he frowned in disgust. “Well that’s something that you’ll never catch me doing” he snarled, feeling a little sick to the stomach as he turned his head from her, but that didn’t last long at all. Amycus couldn’t help but stare at her a little longer than he should have when she ran her hand through her hair. “Mmm, come on then” he teased, and headed over to the doors that opened up to the grounds. Loitering outside on the steps, he took out the packet of cigarettes and offered her one first, before he lolled one out of the corner of his mouth and lit it up soon after. “If you don’t tell my friends, then I won’t” he winked, although really he didn’t care what any of them said.

Bertha noted Amycus’ hands on her hips, not that she minded in anyway. It was attention, which she craved.  She grinned as she followed the male. She trailed close behind, not wanting to stray to far, but close enough to where  only he would be able to hear the words she spoke. “I’m sure there are ways of making you do things you never thought you would.” She practically whispered, grabbing onto his shoulders, laughing. She loved teasing. Teasing, she could do easily. It was a natural reaction for her. When they were outside, she relaxed a bit more. Her body sunk a bit, and she leaned against the wall. She took the cigarette, placing it between her lips. She took out her own lighter, placing it to the tip of the cigarette. “What if I do tell them? You hanging out with a Hufflepuff? And not that of crazy pureblood status!” She teased, taking a drag, before smiling as she breathed out the smoke. She hadn’t smoked in a while, but it felt amazing to have it back in her life. She wanted to sit down but they were too far from the nearest bench. “Mind if we take a walk, I can’t stay still for long and I’d love to go sit by the lake or something,” She took another drag, biting her lip.

Amycus straight away noticed how her face had turned a sort of crimson, and that caused another smirk to tug at the corners of his mouth, after all it was bound to make him happy that she had been affected if only in a small way. “I wouldn’t say that, many of held that attitude with me before, but it never lasts” he told her quite smugly, although it was often the truth he was pleased to say. 

Then as he felt her hand on his shirt , he just gazed back at her, and soon after brought his hand to rest on top of hers. “I would not mind my best shirt getting ripped if it meant I got to lay next to someone as beautiful as you” he almost whispered, making sure that only she could hear his words. “Well I’m not stopping you now, you are more than free to continue to your common room, or instead you could join me for a smoke?” he offered, finally removing his hand from being on tops of hers. “Unless you’re a goody two shoes who doesn’t smoke?”

Bertha could sense she wouldn’t win if she kept up the attitude. She relaxed her face, bringing out the true Bertha smile. “Well, can i be a walking chicle and say I’m not like most girls Carrow.” The girl stood on the tips of her toes to meet the other’s face. Running her teeth over her lip to bit it, she decided to put on a small show for the male. Letting her eyes shut for just a moment before opening them, and grinning. She lowered her voice, “Well, aren’t you quite the charmer. I’m sure that gets you plenty of girls in your bed. There could be one more?” She gave Amycus a wink. She leaned in closer, “You know what I’m really into? Watching two guys together.” She blutred out before bursting into laughter.  Bertha backed away, shaking her head. 

When Amycus removed his hand from atop hers, she make a conscious effort to run it through her hair. “I’d love to join you, but what would your housemates say, fraternizing with a Hufflepuff?” She teased. Bertha was glad her house wasn’t discriminatory of who they were allowed to hang out with. She had friends in almost all of the house. “Lead the way.”
