Why in the world did Lily Lou get a boob-job?! That’s like modifying the Mona Lisa. Yeah, it adds something but it wasn’t necessary…

The story behind “Forbidden Fruit of the Garden”
*Yes, I’m aware that the full song isn’t available. However, I don’t want to break it into two parts lol.
This was one of my favorite songs to write. I’m a fan of writing romantic rap records, but not the cliché “I’m going to buy you this” and “I’m going to hit it from the back” type song. I like songs with character. I’m a former student of English so I need there to be a plot and something for listeners to be invested in.
The theme was inspired by several instances I’ve had since moving to DFW. I’d go out to bars and would meet women. A lot of these women would have boyfriends or husbands. However, I never engaged because I’m not that type of guy.
I was inspired by all of these scenarios, but one particular moment really stuck out. This one chick handed me a coaster with her number written on it while her significant other was in the bathroom. It was bold and inspired me to think: “what if I actually called her?” Thus, the idea for the song.
“Forbidden Fruit…” is the dream scenario of me actually engaging with one of those women. The act of me being a willing participant in the debauchery leads to the religious undertones. Not only the title, but also Christian themes play out in the verses. The commentary about being naked and telling lies is a reference to Adam and Eve. The opening line of the second verse, “Strip her naked and eat the flesh”, is drawn from Revelations 17:16. Even the hook subtly references faith. The constant lines of,“We both know better”, allude to being aware of sin while still engage in infidelity.
When I recorded this song, I always had an idea of this smooth, R&B-jam. Think DVSN or Keith Sweat. Nonetheless, the song was originally passed on by Chris (AcidLife) and then sent to another producer that never got back to me. Chris would later come up with a fitting beat that is the current iteration of the song (or snippet) you hear now. The electric and upbeat tone actually gives the song a playful vibe to coincide with the rather shameful lyrics.
Hopefully the full song will be readily available soon and possibly even reimagined.
Such a tease

Okay, guys, finally got “Moonshot” uploaded to YouTube! Show it some love! Thanks in advance! 😆
Fuck it! 2022 is the year!
About to drop some new music:
A teaser for “Forbidden Fruit of the Garden”
A couple freestyles on YouTube/IG
and releasing a two song EP this summer
I’m growing impatient and you guys have waited far too long. LFG! 😆
Firstly, I want to say thank you to my listeners for being patient with me. This has been a disappointing year for you guys, as well as myself. One song in nearly twelve months is inexcusable and for that I take the blame. The reason behind the delay of music is simply a lack of communication. I have recorded several songs early this year and another in the past month (to replace a song that was unfortunately shelved which I haven’t even heard…). I have received only three of the songs that were finished, one of them being “Moonshot” which was always intended to be the initial single. The other two are songs that are intended to be part of my debut EP. I have considered releasing one of the two songs to at least give you guys something while my music is being worked on, but I can’t bring myself to do that. For that, I’m to blame. I’ve always had a plan and I intend to stick to that. I believe that when you have a goal in mind, you have to see it through. I think if you allow yourself to be swayed by obstacles and minor setbacks, you lose control and eventually wander off course. With that in mind, I’m sticking to my initial plan. This initial plan includes a follow up single. The single was originally shelved by a producer and I was actually shopping for another producer to pick it up, but a couple months ago the former producer sent a snippet of a potential song. This turn of events has led to optimism that a second single is coming soon. However, I’m in the process of trying to accumulate the finished songs that I worked on this year and ultimately severing ties with the aforementioned producer. My hope is to release a follow up single (simultaneously on SoundCloud and YouTube) and ultimately release my debut EP in the coming months. This was not in my original plan, but still aligns with the vision. All of this music was intended to be released this year, not in 2022, and the EP was supposed to be a total of five tracks (not including the two singles) and could be reduced to three or four. However, you guys will hear new material in the end. Please be patient with me. I’m trying to stay optimistic about this whole thing and not point the blame at anyone other than myself. After all, this all falls on me for not demanding punctuality and professionalism. I’m working to get everything under control now. Once again, thank you for your patience and thank you for listening. More music is on the way! -TM
The story behind “Moonshot”
Aside from being a cocky and bombastic track, there’s a lot more to “Moonshot”. A moonshot, in the sports world, is a long distance home run. Hence, I wanted this song to represent me “swinging for the fences”.
Aside from the baseball reference, this song pays homage to another song. One of my favorite songs that I would hear when I would go to bars was Pardison Fontaine’s “Backin It Up”. I love that beat, punchlines, and how much he was having fun. While I was at work, I would come up with bars that I would rap to that beat and that’s what sparked the first four bars.
After that, it was a done deal. I finished the rest of the verses, recorded, and I sent my vocals to Chris; and he found a beat to match the cadence and vibe. I had to change a couple lines and re-record some bars, but ultimately we came out with the final product.
