Don’t give people so much power over you that their silence leaves you questioning your worth.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:7 ⠀ There is no amount of analyzing and overthinking that will bring you peace. Only Jesus can set your heart back to where it needs to be. Only He can untangle your emotions, your feelings, your doubts, fears, and worries, and help you out of that dark place, when you failed at helping yourself. ⠀ You can work through every scenario in your mind as to what should’ve happened and how things should be, but until you know Him, you’ll always be searching for peace. So get to know Him more than you know Him now. Even if you feel like you know Him very well, everyday He calls you deeper still. Everyday, He wants you to know His peace even more, the kind of peace that cannot be understood outside of Him. ⠀ Wrap yourself in Him. Talk to Him daily. Nothing you share with Him goes unheard or untended to. Nothing is forgotten or abandoned. And because the peace of God guards your heart, this means that none of the troubles in your heart catch Him off guard. So even if you don’t understand the pain or conflict or tension in your heart, go to Him about it. His peace gives comfort for all of it. ⠀ The peace of God goes beyond the limitations of our understanding. So even when we cannot articulate the depths of our fears and doubts, His peace is still there, faithfully lifting us out. ⠀ Written by @morganhnichols for #TheDevoCo
My heart’s declaration… Through the good and not so good, I’m choosing to trust You, God. You are good. And You are good at being God.

To all the girls waiting for the right guy
Girl, I know it’s hard to wait. I know it’s so hard to face rejection after rejection, the fear of never finding the right guy. But the right guy is worth waiting for. Stop settling for guys who don’t wholeheartedly follow Jesus. Stop dating guys who are “good” but do not follow Jesus, who do not bring you closer to Him.
If a guy doesn’t follow Jesus, he cannot love you right.
He can treat you great but if he has no desire to grow closer to Jesus, he won’t be good to you in the long run. If he doesn’t believe in Jesus, you should not be dating him at all. Yes, he might be okay with you being a believer but if he is not, he will not be able to encourage you or challenge your or call you out when you sin. He might be okay with your faith now but he will also be okay with your sin. You don’t want that. You want someone who challenges you to correct your ways. Someone who reads the Bible with you, grows closer to Jesus with you and prays with and for you.
If you find yourself saying “I know he’s not (perfect/patient/humble/faithful/growing closer to Jesus) right now but it will get better” – please, don’t believe yourself. You are worth more than that. You are worthy of a guy who honors you and respects you above all else. You are worthy of a guy who will challenge himself to become better so that he can love you right right now, not in the future.
Because you will do just the same for the right guy. You will see your flaws and you will want to grow, become better so that you will love him rightly. You will give him your heart, your time, your everything – just to be with him and to make him happy.
You were not created to be married, you were created to honor Jesus and to fellowship with Him. Girl, singleness is not a curse. You are not single because God doesn’t love your or because He is punishing you. So it might be that it will take weeks, months or years before the right guy comes along – because God wants to use you as you are right now for His glory. Don’t rush the process. See what God has for you in this season of singleness and make the most of serving Him, as you have freedom with your life right now. You can do amazing things, and you do not need a guy to do all that.
You cannot say that you’re having trouble hearing God if you’re not reading His Word. He is speaking to you loud and clear, and it’s all written down in the Bible.
You want to hear from Him? Start there.
Through the many uncertainties that life presents, this can be a hard truth to accept. But it is grace-filled, God-breathed truth: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” - Romans 8:28. If you’re scared to make a big decision because you don’t know how things will turn out, and if you’re worried about pouring your heart into something because you don’t know the outcome, ask yourself this: “Am I able to glorify God with this decision? Will I be able to love and help others in a way that reflects the love of Jesus in this scenario?” If the answer is “yes,” stop letting fear hold you back. ⠀ Yes, you will face challenges. Yes, even after you step out on faith, you will still have to wait on things. But in all of this, The Lord will make you brave. He will equip you to do His work. ⠀ Whether that’s in nursing school, on the mission field in a new country, in a relationship with the man you are going to marry, or with the business you’ve started, the work you do for Him is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). He will continuously prepare you while you’re waiting on things to happen and all throughout the process. He will allow you to meet whoever you were supposed to meet. He will take you wherever you are supposed to go. Make your focus serving and being obedient to Him, and brings together for the good. Live a life of less worry, anxiety, and more obedience and faithfulness to Him. And one day, you will look back over your life and see that the waiting was not in vain. You will tell the story of how you gave your all to Him and how God honored your faithfulness to Him. So start today, knowing that you are wrapped in the Eternal love of Jesus Christ and wherever God is leading you, because of who He is, you will always be right where you need to be. ⠀ Written by @morganhnichols for #TheDevoCo
Every single thing that happens in your life has a meaning. Nothing happens on accident. Trust God.
I think some of the best advice I’ve learned to give myself spiritually is no matter how much I sin or fall, no matter how many times, no matter how guilty or ashamed I feel, never stop coming to Jesus. Never let it hold you back or keep you away from drawing close to Him and trying to grow. Never tire of repenting, even if it feels like you repeatedly repent for many of the same things. Sin is inward and it takes more than a one time conviction for the behaviors to fully follow and get out of habits or the depths of our depravity. Accept the truth you’re forgiven and free when you come to Christ and genuinely want Him to continue to change your heart to be more like His, and move forward. If I stop moving toward Him because I am letting my sin become greater than his grace and mercy, I am doubting the power of His redeeming work to the power of my flesh. Paul reassures us in Romans nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. If that is our reality, then we shouldn’t let anything, no matter how bad, how frequent, how difficult it is to overcome, how long it takes to get past- none of that should ever stop us from still coming to Him and seeking to become more like Him. Don’t give up because of your sin or fallings. Look to Christ. The whole point of the cross was not only that Christ paid the price to remove our condemnation, but He triumphed victoriously over all sin and death. The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in us, and we can overcome. Believe that. Don’t let discouragement drag you down or get stuck at “I obviously can’t be holy.” Of course you can’t, we’re sinful by nature, which is why we desperately need Jesus- but there is bright hope in knowing we have Him, and He is able.
