a/n: wrote some cuddles with this beautiful mochi man while i was trying to sleep. i need to be compressed by him like a weighted blanket with a heartbeat 😭🥺
Katakuri had scarcely settled before you were moving towards him, drawn across the mattress by the warmth of his body and the complete certainty that there was nowhere else you belonged. He lifted one arm for you without needing to be asked.
That was all the invitation you required. You tucked yourself against his chest, slipping beneath his chin as his arm came down around you with enough weight to make the whole world seem smaller. His other hand settled at the back of your waist, broad enough to span it, and drew you closer until every last sliver of cold air had been pressed out from between you. Against him, you felt wonderfully insubstantial, like something precious he could gather into the shelter of his body and keep there.
“Comfortable?” he murmured.
The question rumbled through his chest beneath your cheek. You nodded, already half-drowsy from the heat of him, and curled one hand into the fabric over his ribs.
A quiet breath stirred your hair. With anyone else, it might have been a sigh; from Katakuri, you recognised the faintest trace of amusement. His grip shifted, one enormous palm sliding up the length of your back while his arm tightened around your waist, and suddenly you were being tucked still deeper into him, your face nestled beneath the solid line of his collarbone.
“There,” he said. “Closer.”
You made a gentle, pleased sound, victorious despite having done nothing more strenuous than demand affection from a man who had never learnt how to deny you. Katakuri’s chin came to rest atop your head. A moment later, you felt him lower his face into your hair, the uncovered curve of his mouth hidden against you as he breathed in slowly.
There was something almost agonisingly tender in the way he held you when no one else could see him. His strength never disappeared, but it did become careful. The same arms that could crush stone curved around you as though guarding a flame from the wind, and every slow pass of his hand over your back carried a devotion too instinctive to require words.
“You’re warm,” you mumbled.
His chest moved beneath you, and this time there was no mistaking the low, private huff of laughter buried in your hair. He pressed his face closer, mouth brushing your crown in a kiss so gentle it made your heart ache.
“Go to sleep,” he murmured, tightening his arms when you instinctively burrowed nearer. “I’ll keep you here.”
As if there were any force in the world powerful enough to remove you.
