Kirby of the Stars: The Dream Onsen Is A Good Hot Spring ♩

Description:

Kirby, Dedede, and the residents of Dreamland join forces to create a hot spring!

Kirby and his friends head for the deserted Sunset Village in the far west, where they are asked to restore the village back to life. Up in the mountains, they find a hot spring, and name it "Dream Onsen".

Together with the residents of Dreamland and the Co-Kracko who wandered in, they begin to to build a hot spring to revitalize the village!

The feast is ready, invitations are sent to Meta Knight, Daroach, and Elfilin, and the springs are open for business! But then, a big problem arises!

Time to protect Dream Onsen and the celebration party!

Botw is such an interesting take on post apocalypse, because it isn't really dystopian. It is a wound healed over, a world that has forgotten the end of itself, and in that, has begun anew. Grandparents whisper their nightmares into the wind, and smile at their kin. The garrisons that remain are sodden ashes in the dirt, a burial ground, and the most fertile soil for miles. You do not know the past that your body remembers. You do not know the voices that linger, and yet you follow. You follow, because the world has forgotten you, and you have nothing that is yours to remember.

Chapter 4: We'll All Go!

The Warp Star quickly returned to Dedede’s Castle. Several residents noticed and rushed over.

“Hey Kirby, where have you been?”

Burning Leo was the first to say that.

Chilly also asked, sounding worried.

“Neither Dedede nor Bandana are here. I’ve asked the other Waddle Dees, but they’re talking about some Sunset Village and the general store, I don’t really understand what they’re saying.”

Chef Kawasaki spoke too.

“It was boring since you and King Dedede didn’t come to eat, so I made a new recipe. I put a lot of thought into it, so I wanted you to try it.”

Kirby jumped off the Warp Star and said cheerfully:

“You know, we went to Sunset Village, which is at the farthest west of the world. There…”

Kirby talked about how the general store closed down and how the villagers were in a dire state.

“So, I got the idea of opening a new store, I need your help.”

“A new store…?”

“If we create a convenience store that sells everything, it would help everyone in Sunset Village, right? I also want to build a restaurant to make the place more lively.”

“Restaurant??”

Chef Kawasaki started to lean forward.

“Yes! They say you can catch delicious fish near Sunset. So, I want Chef Kawasaki to cook some delicious fish dishes.”

“Wow, that's great! I bet we’ll be able to catch fish that can’t usually be found here, it’s a completely new place. I think I could come up with a recipe, I’m so excited!”

Chef Kawasaki’s eyes lit up instantly.

Knuckle Joe went forward and asked:

“I get Chef Kawasaki’s role, but what about us? What are we supposed to do?”

“There’s a lot of other things. Changing the signs, preparing the goods to sell… we’re opening a new store, so we’re really busy. We want everyone to come.”

Bouncy replied, bouncing up and down.

“That sounds fun! I love playing store. Not just pretend, but… it sounds like so much fun to open up and sell lots of things!”

The residents began to shout and cheer, everyone seemed excited to help.

Then there.

“Opening a new store… hah, that’s a stupid idea.”

Kirby and his friends turned to the direction of the low voice. It was Bonkers, holding a faint smile.

Burning Leo spoke in a low voice.

“Ridiculous you say, Bonkers. You’re as skeptical as ever.”

Bonkers’ eyes gleamed, then he glared at everyone.

“…What? Who just badmouthed me? Who is it?!”

“What- What!?!? I-I don’t know anything about that!”

Burning Leo quickly hid behind Chef Kawasaki.

Bonkers is a bully who was feared by everyone. But he is strong, quick to start fights, and easy to anger. He doesn’t seem to like playing with others, and usually wanders around by himself.

The residents recoiled in fear of Bonkers, but Kirby didn’t care. He ran to him with delight.

“Yay! Bonkers is coming too? Thank you!”

But Bonkers shook his head in annoyance.

“Huh? Me? No way. Helping out at some dumb store like this? I’m a Bonkers, but there’s no way I’m going to do that.”

“Oh… I see.”

Kirby spoke sadly.

“Well, I guess there’s nothing we can do about that. Bye bye, Bonkers.”

Bonkers got taken aback when he saw Kirby back down so easily.

“W-what?! Wait a minute, Kirby…”

“We need to get ready to depart right away. Waddle Dees, can you prepare a big basket? We’ll attach it to the Warp Star and take everyone to Sunset Village.”

“Okay!”

The Waddle Dees hurried towards the castle’s warehouse. Bonkers got irritated and yelled at Kirby.

“What’s wrong Kirby?! Don’t you need me?!”

“It would be great if you would join us, but if you don’t want to, that’s okay.”

“You give up way too easily! Try asking me a little more eagerly. Maybe, just maybe… I might be interested too?”

“No, I don’t want to force you to do anything you don’t want to do. Oh, here comes the basket, it looks big enough. Come on everyone, get in!”

Kirby called out to the residents. Bonkers yelled out, furious and red.

“Hey, Kirby! Do you really think the plan is going to work without me?! If I’m not there it’s bound to fail, come on!”

The residents climbed into the basket, ignoring Bonkers’ constant shouting. The Waddle Dees tied the basket to the Warp Star with thick ropes as Kirby jumped onto the Warp Star and shouted:

“Okay, let’s go everyone! Hold on tight so you don’t fall!”

The Warp Star floated gently, and the basked carrying everyone started rising into the air. Bonkers hastily jumped into the basket.

“Kirby, you jerk! Don’t you dare ignore me…!”

“Oh Bonkers, you really are coming? You’re so kind! Come on, let’s go.”

With Kirby’s shout, the Warp Star sped up, still carrying Bonkers. Not too long after, they arrived at Sunset Village in a single leap.

Bandana Waddle Dee greeted everyone with a smile

”Thank you all for coming! You’re all here so quickly!”

The first to get out of the basket was Chef Kawasaki.

“I heard from Kirby that you’re opening a new restaurant. So I’ll do my best!”

Burning Leo and Chilly also came down.

“Oh, so this is Sunset Village.’

“It’s in the mountains, and all you can see is mountains..”

Bandana Waddle Dee spoke to each person.

“Okay, Burning Leo and Chilly. Bouncy came too. Knuckle Joe- and Cappy, and everyone… Huh?!”

Bandana Waddle Dee flinched, he noticed Bonkers clinging limply to the basket.

“B-Bonkers?! He came too…?!?!”

After all, Bonkers is a lonely troublemaker. No one imagined he would actually come to help. Bonkers rubbed his arm, numb from holding onto the basket for so long, and spoke in a loud, menacing voice.

“What’s your problem? Am I causing any trouble by showing up?”

“W-w-what?! No, thank you for coming, Bonkers!”

Bandana Waddle Dee shivered. The Waddle Dees are very scared of Bonkers, since he picks fights with anyone and everyone. Bandana Waddle Dee’s legs trembled just from standing in front of him. Before Bonkers could continue his complaints, King Dedede intervened.

“So you came, Bonkers. I’m counting on you for your strength.”

“Hmm? Oh, oh- Kirby insisted, so I showed up anyway.”

Bonkers’ attitude was a little bit different. He acts all arrogant in front of everyone, but he’s no match for King Dedede when it comes to strength. He has no choice but to behave. Leafy and Chip, along with the other residents of Sunset Village, looked surprised as they saw the group.

Kirby said:

“Everyone’s going to lend us their help! That’s great Leafy and Chip!”

“Yes! Thank you very much!”

Leafy and Chip bowed their heads with a happy look.

Then, Lovely appeared. She spoke, exhausted.

“I’m so sorry that so many of you came… we’re just like you, but for the sake of us… ohhh…”

Lovely wilted and was dejected, but Kirby reached out.

“Oh don’t say that. We’re going to catch lots of fish and build a wonderful restaurant.”

“Restaurants mean nothing to me.”

Lovely’s eyes welled up with tears.

“What I like is delicious fertilizer, the one Oba-chan sold at her shop. I’d like to eat that… ohhh…”

Lovely wilted more and more, but Bandana Waddle Dee spoke sympathetically.

“Of course, we’ll make fertilizer too. What kind of store do you want the new general store to be? Please give us your honest opinion.”

But the residents replied with dejected expressions.

“What kind of shop, you ask… something like Oba-chan’s general store.”

“I want a delicious bento box, or some nice-smelling soap.”

King Dedede sighed and shrugged his shoulders, saying:

“You guys always leave everything to others! As long as you keep acting like that, the general store will never come back!”

“But…”

“Anyways, let’s get started. ‘King Dedede’s Great Sunset Village Reconstruction Project’ is now underway!”

Kirby replied:

“We don’t need the ‘King Dedede’ part. ‘We're going to build a new shop in Sunset! We’re going to build a restaurant that serves delicious fish dishes! And we’re also going to build a ramen shop, a curry shop, a cake shop, and, and, and, we’ll build lots and lots of food shops! Let’s begin!’”

“That’s way too long, Kirby…”

Leafy looked around at everyone, and spoke.

“Okay, let’s start our meeting. Over here!”

The group began walking towards the former general store at the center of the village.

I assume that Bonkers is the name of the character and the species, I've noticed it's the same case with other minor characters in Kirby novels.

It's technology, right, but how do you interpret a wish to move freely as BATTLESHIP. Or maybe Nova's wishing power is chaotic neutral considering the last time we saw someone wish on it was chaotic themselves.

Happy Halloween! (and an "announcement" for my account) I don't have anything planned, I was playing a certain monster game that just dropped on Roblox, hehe. So instead, here's my gijinka version of Kirby! (keep reading if you wanna learn about my AU, and other things I plan to post :D ) Soo my AU is like retelling the Kirby series except it takes inspiration from the Mie Takase novels (pretty obvious I'm a fan cause.. I'm translating one). It's just the events with headcanons, very simple and sweet but also with a few arcs and fleshing out. If I wasn't a procrastinator, I would love to make comics and etc, but it's easier to write it down. So to anyone who actually reads this, would you like me to post little fanfic chapters on this page? Or just some scenes with a single drawing and dialogue? I'm indecisive lol. As for what I plan to post? Well Kirby isn't my only favorite, there's another but that one is WAY TOO OBSCURE IF YOU'RE NOT AWARE OF JAPANESE DISNEY, and I kinda feel scared to post about it (imma give one hint, it's about a bear..), but if you guys are curious or you're the 5% of people who actually care/know about them, I will gladly contribute to the international audience of it :D Other things I would want to post? Uma Musume, Precure and Cookie Run! While not as strong they are still very dear to me and I would love to show off my art of them :) I know this account is pretty small but I just love posting art in general, so if you care, give your opinion, thanks!

Day 2, 3, 4: Forgotten, Rainbow, Copy~ Forgotten made me think of Forgotten Land, so there :) Rainbow is Rainbow Resort I wanted copy to be unique so I thought of Anti-Kirby from the Zelda series, it's just a copy of Kirby but as an enemy [I want days ending in 5s or 0s to be special, so next will be digital!]

Chapter 3: Sunset Village

Crossing fields, lunch, crossing mountains, lunch, snacks, crossing the river. They were eating meals, taking naps, and travelling for ten days. Kirby and King Dedede were energetic at first, but they slowly got exhausted. King Dedede complained, thumping his left foot.

“I didn’t think it would be this far, are we there yet?”

Chip spoke softly

“…if we had cut down on the number of lunches and naps, it should’ve only taken 5 days…”

“What? Are you telling me to walk on an empty stomach like some doll?!”

"No, that's not it…"

Leafly replies.

"We're almost there. Just two more turns and we'll be in Sunset Village."

"Seriously… Even I, the “dog” ruler, had no idea that Dreamland was this big!”

Despite muttering to themselves, the group continued walking. After climbing two hills and crossing a mountain path, they finally came across a pretty red roof. They made it.

Leafy said.

"We've arrived! This is Sunset!"

"Hmm. It certainly is in the middle of nowhere."

King Dedede pouted in annoyance. Bandana Waddle Dee was more surprised, looking around at the scene.

"But the air is so clear and it feels good… I can even smell the flowers..!"

"Hmph. If there's no air, my stomach won't swell."

Kirby looked around, his eyes shining.

"It smells not only like flowers, but also like fruit! I'm sure there are lots of delicious ones here. Let's go!"

Kirby forgot all about his fatigue and started running energetically.

"Oh, wait a minute, Kirby…"

Leafly tried to call out, but Kirby quickly jumped onto a tree. The trees are laden with bright, yellow, shiny fruits.

"Wow, it's a tangerine! I love those!"

When he shook the trunk, the small fruits started falling down one after another.

"That looks delicious, let's eat!"

Kirby opened his mouth wide and bit into the fruit. Then suddenly, he jumped up and flipped over.

“Ubyabyabya! So, so sour…”

“Woah! Kirby, are you okay?!”

Leafly ran over to Kirby, as he spoke with tears in his eyes.

“What is this… it’s not a mandarin! It’s 10 times more sour than a lemon!”

“It’s so sour that no one wants to eat it. Ever since Oba-chan disappeared, we’ve been hungry all the time, we don’t wanna touch it.”

“Y-You should’ve told me sooner!”

As Kirby flinched and wiped away his tears, Chip replies:

“Well anyways, I’ll introduce you to the members of the village. Hey everyone, come on out!” His voice echoed throughout the village, then doors opened and the residents came out. Tookie, a bird with a red crest said:

“Ah, welcome back Leafy and Chip. Did King Dedede listen to what you asked?”

“Of course Tookie, this guy…”

Chip tried introducing the king to Tookie, but he glanced at him with disappointment.

“I see.. You didn’t get to meet the Great King after all.”

“Uh, no, this person-”

“You’re a replacement for the Great King.. Well, nevermind. Nice to meet you.”

Tookie waved his wings wildly while King Dedede retorted angrily.

“What’s with that rude attitude?! Who do you think I am…?”

Leafly and Chip hurriedly tried to calm him down.

“Woah! I’m sorry, everyone in this village has no manners…”

“Tookie, this is King Dedede. And this is Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee. They’ve agreed to lend us their strength.”

“Huh?”

Tookie’s eyes snapped open.

“The one in the portrait? Is that him?”

“That’s right. The portrait, well… it doesn’t look that similar…”

Chip stammered, trying to explain. At that moment, another resident came forward.

It looked like a flower, but they had a sad looking face.

“I don’t care about portraits. You guys, please help us.”

In a voice thicker than a loud bell, King Dedede replied proudly:

“Of course! That’s what I came here for.”

“I see… thanks. Please do something quickly. I haven’t been able to buy fertilizer since. I… I… can’t…”

All the flower shaped residents were in tears with their heads hanging low. Chip says: “Don’t worry, Lovely. Kirby and King Dedede are here, I’m sure they’ll help you.”

“Yes, I’m looking forward to it. Ohhh…”

Lovely turned away, wilting. Kirby was worried about her, and spoke loudly:

“I’ll do my best to make sure Oba-chan comes back, it’s okay! So cheer up!”

And there.

Another resident arrived, a pink maiden wearing a polka dot nightcap. It was a round creature, and Chip says:

“Oh, Noddy. It’s rare to see you out and about.”

“You were so noisy that it woke me up… ugh…”

As she said this, she closed her eyes and began to sleep. Kirby was shocked.

“Huh? Did you fall asleep..? But you were just talking a moment ago?”

Leafly replied:

“Her name is Noddy. She’s good at sleeping.”

“I like that too! But I can’t fall asleep that quickly.”

“Noddy is the best in the universe when it comes to sleeping. No one can beat her.”

Suddenly, Noddy opened her eyes slightly.

“Pillow…futon…sleepy…snoring…”

With that, she fell asleep again.

Chip replied:

“Don’t worry about it, she was just talking in her sleep. Noddy always seems to have dreams about sleeping. She says things like that everyday.”

King Dedede was amazed.

“There are so many strange people in this village! What’s going on?”

Leafly replied apologetically.

“None of us had ever spoken to anyone outside the village before, we all do things at our own pace. Anyways, let’s talk about the reason why you’re here. We need to look at the store Oba-chan left behind. This way.”

The group was led by Leafly and Chip to a general store in the middle of Sunset. It was small, with a signboard above the door reading “Anything You Need! Oba-chan’s General Store”.

Chip said sadly.

“Oba-chan was very proud of this store. She used to say, ‘My store supports everyone’s lives.’ Her catchphrase was ‘I’m doing my best! I’ll try harder and harder!’”

“But now, she left.”

King Dedede opened the door and stepped inside, with Kirby and the others following suit. It was empty and lonely, the showcases were empty and there was nothing on the shelves and dust on the floor.

Leafly said:

“Oba-chan took all the products she sold. She’s going to start a new store in a new place.”

“Do you have any idea where she went?”

“Well.. we don’t know anything about the world outside, we have no idea.”

Kirby replies:

“Then let’s all split up and search. Let’s draw a portrait and put it up all over the place! I’m sure we’ll find her.”

“That’s right. Let’s start with the portrait…”

But just when Leafly says that, Bandana Waddle Dee, who had been quiet until now, spoke up.

“Um… even if you find her, will she even come back?”

“Hm?”

“Oba-chan had a dream to make the store bigger and liven up the village. And she left because she thought that her dream wouldn’t come true, right?”

Chip nodded.

“That’s right, because we didn’t cooperate…”

“So even if we find Oba-chan and ask her to come back, I don’t think she’ll listen to us. If the village remains as it is, her dream will never come true…”

“…That’s… that’s true.”

Chip and Leafly hung their heads low, but Kirby replies:

“Then lets make Oba-chan’s dream come true.”

“….what?”

“We’ll make a great store together and have lots of customers come. If you do that, even she will happily come back!”

Chip and Leafly looked at each other.

“A great store..? But we’ve never even helped out.”

“Don’t worry! I’ll catch lots of fish!”

Kirby swung the fishing rod he’s been holding with confidence.

“I’ll get lots of fish and make fish dishes. I’m sure a lot of customers will come to eat them. Then, in no time, the village will be full of life!”

King Dedede sneered.

“What are you talking about? That’s a stupid idea!”

“Huh? Why?”

“Even if we catch a lot of fish, who will cook them? There’s no way I can do that.”

Kirby turned around and said:

“Of course, I’ll make it! I’m confident in my cooking, I eat Chef Kawasaki’s delicious food everyday.”

Hearing this, Bandana Waddle Dee got flustered.

“What?! N-no, if this is about cooking, I’ll do it. Kirby’s cooking is… well…”

Bandana hesitated to say anything. You see, even if you take just one bite, the food Kirby makes isn’t “bad”. One bite will send sparks flying in your mouth, two bites will blow away all your memories, and three bites will make your stomach explode. It’s said to be a devilish dish that will make you cry. But that would be too cruel to tell Kirby, so he mumbled.

“I want Kirby to, um… concentrate on fishing. I’ll be in charge of cooking.”

“Okay then, it’s settled!”

King Dedede said, banging his fists together.

“Let’s change the sign right away! We’ll get rid of the old, plain sign and put up a more stylish one. The new store name will be… King Dedede’s Super Gorgeous, Fresh, and Savory Kanazukuchi Wonderland!*.”

Leafy and Chip recoiled.

“What kind of name is that?”

“I have no idea what kind of store that would be…”

Seeing Chip look so anxious, Bandana Waddle Dee replied:

“Oh, well of course we want fish dishes, but what you all want is a general store where you can buy the things you need for your daily life, right? Fish alone won’t be enough.”

Leafly nodded.

“Of course. Oba-chan sold pillowcases, sewing kits, bandages, everything.”

“To get all of those different things, we need to be prepared. We need more help.”

“More…?”

“Of course. I would like the cooperation of everyone in Sunset Village, but I don’t think that alone will be enough.”

Bandana Waddle Dee looked up at Dedede.

“Your Majesty, could you bring everyone here?”

“Everyone…?”

“Yes, if we have questions about cooking, it’s best to ask Chef Kawasaki. Also, in order to transport various items, it’s better to have a large number of people.”

Kirby jumped with glee and clapped his hands.

“You’re right! Let’s invite everyone! Chef Kawasaki, the Waddle Dees, Burning Leo, Knuckle Joe, Chilly, and more! If everyone helps, it’ll be fun!”

Leafly was surprised. “You mean the residents in Dedede Castle Town? No way…”

Chip agreed with a sour look on his face.

“I agree, would they really come all the way to this inconvenient, faraway place?”

But the King nodded with a happy smile.

“When I give my orders, no one can refuse. All right, I’ll call them for you right away. Bandana, run over there, everyone’s probably bored anyways. Pick out some people who might be useful.”

But then, Kirby exclaimed:

“Wait a minute, I’m faster than Bandana!”

“Hmm? You?”

“Yeah, if I get on the Warp Star, it’ll be a breeze. I’ll be there in no time!”

As Kirby was about to run off, King Dedede called out.

“Wait.. the Warp Star?!”

He raised his hands in anger.

“Why didn’t you call it sooner?! If we had that, there would be no need to travel for ten days!”

“…oh!”

Kirby just realized that.

“Now that you mention it, you’re right! I completely forgot about the Warp Star!”

“You… you.. Idiot!”

“Oh Dedede, I just forgot. Anyways, I’m off!”

Kirby ran out of the store, summoned a Warp Star, and flew away to the other side of Popstar.

This is easily the longest chapter and also the most tiring to work on. If there are many grammar errors I'm sorry, but someday I'll check this and the previous chapters.
