now, it wasn’t unusual for the skeleton to not see his yellow little friend in their designated meeting spot -- after all, he would go there seemingly on a whim, despite the attempts at a scheduled meeting time. it was so easy to become lonely sometimes, after all, and knowing he has at least one friend was enough to brighten up his day. but, maybe the flower didn’t feel the same way, considering the times he was slow to show up, sometimes never arriving at all. but papyrus would never fault him for that. he was all too great for something so petty !! but it did sting a little. and today, well... today really was no different.

orange - red boots plant themselves into the snowy ground, eye sockets squinting as the monster checks around himself carefully for the little flower. he makes the sound of inhaling, despite the lack of lungs (?) , and is readying to call out to flowey, before... he hears something. something... quiet. an uneven sound, like hiccups, and... crying ?

papyrus barely thinks before he slowly makes his way to the source, careful as to not disrupt the sound he heard, navigating through the dense forest that surrounds him. he doesn’t know what he’s going to find. was it... a human ? lost, and afraid ? or maybe a monster lost in the cold, with no way to get back home ? or maybe, it’s...

“ ... FLOWEY ? ” his voice calls, softer than usual -- a worried twang to his tone. he kneels down. the facade of greatness falls so easily as a gloved hand reaches hesitantly to the flower. “ ARE YOU OKAY ? ... WHY ARE YOU CRYING ? ”

OOC : so like hot take, what if sans doesnt actually... know how strong pap is ? hes the only one who ever rly... okay, this sounds bad, but hes the only one who implies pap is weaker i guess. undyne says pap is tough, and shes seen him fight. sans, i dont think, has. i know we all make fun of the overprotective sans trope ( which, deserved. ) but the one way i could ever see it becoming real is in the context of sans believing pap isnt as strong as he is.

@mgicalmultitude : It was the start of the spooky season, and S/kid and P/ump were running around as they so normally did and having fun. However, there was something that would stop S/kid in his tracks, P/ump nearly knocking the both of them over almost ramming into the other. Now, when they both were looking up, their eyes were practically glowing with excitement and also curious disbelief. ' Wow! ' They both said before S/kid walked a bit closer and followed it up with, ' are you a real skeleton? '

while p/apyrus has been on the surface for a few years by now, the month of october always fascinated him much more than other holidays the humans seemed so excited for. the idea of celebrating all things spooky felt like something so personal, as if it were a celebration of him ( and his friends, by extension ) as monsters. it was also a little awkward seeing fake skeletons everywhere, but he’s learned to see it as an extension of their celebration of his kind. and it’s this fascination with the halloween spirit that would often lead to the skeleton walking along from store to store, street to street, getting all necessary materials for a celebratory puzzle, but stops as he hears the sound of awe. did the monster have new fans ???

turning to look at the two, what he could only assume to be kids, the excitement they had for p/apyrus was returned in tow, a glint in the eyesockets as he can’t help but drop everything he was holding to his side, just to give a dramatic pose as he speaks.

“ YOU HAVE A KEEN EYESOCKET !!! ” he says with a hand pressed up to his chest, as if it’s at all difficult to tell what he’s supposed to be. “ WHY YES, I -- THE GREAT PAPYRUS -- AM A REAL SKELETON IN THE FLESH !! AND YOU LOOK TO BE SKELETAL AS WELL, WITH YOUR WIDE GRIN AND BONE PATTERNS ! ”

he crouches, going down on one knee to reach the children’s eye level. his smile is beaming.

“ I’VE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER SKELETON MONSTER LIKE MY BROTHER AND I !! ARE YOU A LONG LOST RELATIVE OF OURS PERCHANCE ?? NYEH HEH HEH ! ” the self - proclaimed spaghettore laughs, knowing fully well there’s no way there could be such a thing as a relative he’d forget. that’s just silly ! “ AND YOU, YOUR HEAD IS SHAPED LIKE A GOURD, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A MONSTER QUITE LIKE YOU BEFORE EITHER !!! ARE YOU BOTH NEW ? ”

OOC : i think one of my fave hcs is the idea that the skelebros technically have bodies, but theyre completely invisible and intangible unless theyre wearing clothes. like, if p/apyrus puts on a shirt and jacket, his body would be a bit softer to the touch as if he actually did have flesh, and the clothes would be filled as if he did as well. however, without it, you wouldnt feel the body at all - your hands would just go through where his stomach should be like its air. feels SUPER fucking weird for him though !
