I really enjoy listening to otherkin and therians talk about the emotions and memories they have of their kintypes.  It makes me happy and helps me to feel like the world is a more fantastical and magical place than what I personally believe it is.

So my askbox is always open to anybody who wants to just spill out their memories and feelings.  I also don’t mind being given a reason to window shop on Etsy, so if you need some help looking for clothes, comfort items or anything else related to your kintype go ahead and ask and I’ll see if I can find anything.  

I personally don’t consider myself to be a therian or otherkin but I relate very strongly to the list of creatures below to the point that I experience shifts and sort of have memories*.   Otherhearted might be a good word for me however I really don’t intend on labeling myself.

“How did you know?”

Well I can’t answer with “meditation and spiritual discovery.” I used to think that was it. But no when I was 13, I found the otherkin community, and just kind of started getting in tune with that part of myself that, over time, has become more and more inseparable from my being until we get to where we are today, where being a dogboy is my whole personality, identity, and life.

“Why are you a therian?”

MAN IDK. I don’t think I was born this way. I can’t say that it’s “part of my soul.” I think I was made this way, through social conditioning mixed with my autism. Idk why I ended up like this specifically, or why I specifically feel like a dog. I just do.

Spiritual therians seem to be able to explain themselves so easily. I love y’all. To an outsider, it’s easier to think “oh yeah reincarnation and spiritualism and animism and stuff!” Like that can be easy to digest. But for people like me? That’s a harder pill for most people to swallow.

Being a dog as a coping mechanism is weird sometimes. I'm this big mean dog who hates strangers and loud sounds and I want to bite you, but I'm also incredibly well trained, I run errands for my favorite person, I think of myself as his service dog, it's how I motivate myself to leave the house.

Phantom memory: A term for the fabricated memories that psychological otherkin will sometimes experience; a less harsh and invalidating way to say ‘false’ or ‘fake’ memory. 

I coined this one over on Kinmunity but figured I’d share it with a larger community because I feel that some would benefit from it.
