Welcome, one and all!!!
I'd like to welcome one and all to the unveiling of Dust Waltz Records!
The short of it: I needed an umbrella to put out all my various projects under, instead of creating a separate page for each musical entity. In so doing that, I realized I could also gather up some of my musical friends and give them a home (and hopefully a community) within which to share their own artistic endeavors.
Some important facts:
We are a netlabel. Meaning digital only. You want a hard copy, please, burn yourself a cd-r. Matter of fact, burn several cd-rs, and give them to your friends. Which brings us to my next point...
We'd rather be heard than paid. All of our releases are free. We encourage downloading and sharing. If you like something you find here, please, pass it along to someone you know. Even if you don't particularly care for it, maybe someone you know might. It's about fostering a community, instead of commerce, as far as we are concerned. We do this because we love it. We hope you will, too.
We are not genre specific. If it sounds good, it is good, whatever that may be. You can hear that within the initial releases offered (i.e. Mark Parker's solo ep sounds vastly different from the Mazeffect compilation). We have varied tastes, as I'm sure you do.
To start us off, we are offering three releases. They are as follows:
Mazeffect - "High Fidelity". It's a compilation of the professionally recorded material from a band that was often compared to J Church, as I recall. I do believe that this is the first digital appearance of stuff from the "Horseshoes & Hand Grenades" era.
Mark Parker - "Live In A Daydream". Singer, songwriter, slacker Mark Parker has been secretly writing some of the best songs on the planet for years now. He once ventured into a real studio and recorded a few of them. Now the secret is out.
Slappy - "The Final Session". Slappy were a crappy punk rock band that became a damn good punk rock band. You can now hear their final session, recorded back in the year 2000. They certainly came out during their final inning swinging for the fences. The best thing they ever did.
I hope you enjoy these initial offerings. We have plenty more planned, much sooner, as opposed to later.
Cheers, and thank you!
