some guy who thinks roller coasters are designed to kill you: you know that EXACT MODEL of ride killed someone a few months ago????!!!

(meanwhile, the accident they are referencing happened 10 years ago on a ride of a similar design, but from a different manufacturer) (ride regulations have gotten stricter since then)

i think some people are a little too worked up about ingredients in food

i got a can of iced coffee the other day (it was good but i'm not doing any free promo), and for some reason, i found myself scrolling through the reviews for this product on the company's website. a couple people were criticizing the ingredients for being "bad," or as one said, verbatim, "yucky." what are the ingredients? well, coffee, water, sugar, cream, and some thickening agents like cellulose gum and carrageenan. these are all easy-to-read ingredients (for most english speakers, anyway) that you can easily look up online. as far as i'm aware, none of these are actively hazardous towards human health unless you have some digestive issues like ulcerative colitis, because high fiber diets can trigger symptoms. also, to add, if you have a digestive disease, you shouldn't be drinking coffee in the first place, given its acidity and laxative properties.

anyway, it's orthorexia, right? like some kind of ocd centered around clean and healthy eating. it genuinely feels like these people are obsessed with getting cancer or some crazy disease and they think, "if i only eat simple ingredients, then i won't get cancer and die." cancer is a reasonable concern to have, but i feel like some of us are a little too hardcore about it, and it's teetering into mental illness. let's employ more critical thinking before we panic over ingredients. together.

If you follow Selmers to the poetry society meeting in Night In The Woods, this is her poem. I loved it and the themes of the game, and wanted to use it as practice to see if i can control the way readers ‘hear’ the words through images.

Recently, I've been getting a reoccurring memory of this very specific yet unspecific moment in my childhood, and I don't understand why.

In this memory, it's fall, maybe October. The air is very crisp, and it's a little foggy. I think I'm waiting for the bus? I'm not certain. I feel very anxious, but I don't know what for. That's the main part of the memory.

I've never had a memory pop up as often as this one. I can't figure out why. It's so strange.

i tried to read 17776 once when i was 14 or 15 and got bored of it because i didn't like football.

with that said, i do appreciate that the author thought, "what if humans became immortal and chose to spend their infinite time playing football?" and then wrote a piece of speculative fiction from the point of view of sentient space probes. and he probably only came up with this because he likes football. i love that.
