White boy CONFUSES Mexican restaurant staff by ordering in perfect Mandarin.
hey guys not sure if any of you relate but personally ive been really big into stories lately. characters, even. i find myself impacted by fiction. yeah. that made-up stuff. this is just one brief look into my sick and twisted mind
Having a blorbo is so embarrassing like sorry I have to go and self regulate by looking at The guy

Drarry advent calendar day 15 : mistletoe
I’m just saying that the HP filmmakers were absolutely INSANE for that parallel of young Severus enchanting something inanimate to fly toward Lily - his love interest - in the field as a gesture of affection, and Draco enchanting something inanimate to fly toward Harry - his, well, his something - in the classroom for “ambiguous” reasons.
listen I have many complaints about the movies, but we all owe the filmmakers our gratitude for their noble service in the drarry wars
Drarry Calendar day 16 : secret relationship (well, not secret for longer lol)
I just needed to make the cliché “accidentally exchanged ties in the dark” trope but with the uniforms I imagine for them in the books haha
Posting again after hiatus

in a situation where Harry and Draco get together during hogwarts, how do you think they are able to set aside their hatred for each other to get together? Harry in particular i could imagine being 100% aware of their mutual attraction, but out of loyalty to his friends and grudges over the hurt draco has caused him, what do you think is the "tipping point" that allows them to move past that and forge a relationship?
I don't think they ever hated each other. One of the really extraordinary things about this ship for me is the extent to which they always seem to care about and trust and even be comfortable around each other even when they have every reason not to, and how they can never bring themselves to truly hate the other, even when it would be reasonable too.
Like on the Astronomy Tower Harry witnesses Draco 1) confess to being a Death Eater 2) admit to having almost killed several friends of Harry's, including Ron 3) let Death Eaters into the castle and disarm Dumbledore, resulting in Bill getting maimed, Dumbledore getting murdered (seemingly, since obviously he doesn't know that was pre-planned) and putting many other people Harry loves at risk (so many of his friends could easily have died that evening) 4) admit to many other illegal acts in Voldemort's service including use of illegal curses. And what's Harry's big takeaway from all that? Is it "wow I was right; Draco is pure evil I hope he dies"? Nope! Instead in the immediate aftermath Harry's all "poor Draco he went through so much hope he's ok". Like he doesn't even start pitying Draco after a cooling down period. He's just immediately worrying about him. Harry is the problematic Draco apologist all the antis are always complaining about.
But yeah. Harry's not going to act on any feelings he has for Draco as long as Draco continues mistreating people Harry cares about and espousing views Harry finds repellent. So I think the tipping point would be seeing Draco has genuinely changed. He's not going to trust it immediately. But as soon as Draco isn't actively his enemy that force that has always drawn them together will still be there, and the factors pushing them apart will seem less and less important. Though they'd still have a lot to work though and trust would have to grow organically. I personally find it unrealistic in fics when Harry has a rabid hatred for Draco because he was never like that towards him, even when they were enemies on opposite sides of a war. But I also find it unrealistic when Harry immediately starts talking like he swallowed a book of metas about why Draco is a sympathetic character.

I mean the whole damn point of the Nativity story is that the supposed son of God (interpret Jesus how you fucking want, of course) was born to a couple of poor, exhausted peasants in the stable for the inn, and his first bed was a feeding trough for animals. That would nowadays be like a poor couple where the mother gives birth in a parking garage behind the motel because they couldn’t find a better place and nobody else would take them in. It’s a pretty gritty setting, and the idea is that God was reborn in some of the rock-bottom lowest circumstances. The only thing majestic was all the angels and shit, and of course motherly love
I get that a lot of the art portraying Madonna and Child as fabulously wealthy europeans in splendid robes and golden light was meant to glorify God + whichever nobility was sponsoring the artist, and while of course it’s genuinely beautiful art, it just always struck me as horribly missing the point, which is that the supposed son of God started in incredibly humble circumstances, among the kind of people that everyone else looks down on
‘Massacre des Innocents’ by Leon Cogniét, 1824. Although the Feast of the Holy Innocents is in a couple of days time, this painting is still really relevant in that it portrays Mary as how She really was: a scared refugee mum, so fearful that Her son was going to be one of the Innocents killed by King Herod.
My new favorite mordern interpretation is this work, José y Maria by Everett Patterson (http://www.everettpatterson.com)
I had to look at this like FIVE TIMES to register all the layers of symbolism going into the piece by Patterson.
The hoodie as a veil.
Weisman cigarettes
Each of them is haloed by an advertisement sticker.
No Vacancy sign on the motel.
Dove sticker over Maria’s head.
Neon sign with a star symbol also over Maria’s head.
The crown over the ‘Dave’s City Motel’ sign. “New Manger.”
The sign behind Jose’s elbow likely says ‘Herod.’
The wee little plant growing through the cracks at their feet.
It’s like a New Testament ‘I Spy.’ I love it!
Ugh.
New favorite interpretation of the nativity.

Good news sticker above José
