Honestly, I don't know what happened. Well, I mean, I do - I got caught in a mental loop of if I work a lot so I'm ahead, I'll have so much time to write! but, spoilers, when life is busy there is always something to do, you never get ahead of the work, and by the time I could catch a break, I was exhausted and so not in the mood to write. I'd just be updating my wip-doc of fics I want to write! that just kept getting longer and longer and I never got anything actually done, which absolutely sucked.

Plus, I don't like posting when it's still a wip. I'm currently doing it and, lo and behold, can't write consistently and still haven't managed to update. And I just don't ever really write short fics?? Like, I always plan it out, this one doesn't need to be long, I can write a couple thousand words and publish and I'll start but then, oh, what about this plot point, and, ooh, wouldn't this be so good, and - once again, I don't finish the story, it sits in my drafts and there it remains.

I wouldn't exactly call it a fear of not measuring up or imposter syndrome - with two of my past SKAM works being so well-received and being literally the coolest experience ever - calling it such doesn't feel right. It wasn't that I was afraid people wouldn't enjoy whatever I posted next or that I started holding myself to some imaginary standards of success as writing fanfiction has never been about that for me. I think it was more that I stopped writing (anything other than course work) regularly because, in my head, I couldn't justify spending the time doing something I enjoyed when there were more "important" things to do. And writing is a craft, you have to hone it, so whenever I did manage to write, the style was different, the words didn't flow as easy, I didn't feel like I was expressing the characters' thoughts and motivations deeply enough, and I could never really figure out what it was I didn't like about what I had written beyond that it all seemed superficial almost?? And as someone who has a natural inclination to straying towards angst, even when I don't intend to, "superficial writing" (if that is the right way to describe it) just - doesn't work for me. So I never finished anything, and because I never finished anything, I never posted.

Overall, I am doing well <3 I just need to remind myself that writing should be self-care and something I should treat myself with. I love it, I know I love it, and I love sharing what I write and reading people's comments and talking about it with them. I always go back and reread old comments and discussions because nothing gets me in the mood to write as much as literally seeing my own excitement mirrored!

So thank you - for still being here, and caring, and enjoying the rides, and the kind words. I want to be here, and I want to get better at being here, and I want to post new content, and I want to have fun with you <3

i have a question! so did the photographer who accidentally caught it in the background caught it in one of the windows of his home or was it a photographer who had something to do with piano? thank you!

Some of this is hinted at in the story, some I've expanded upon in the comments, but, essentially, Magnussen gets too cocky because he figures out that Isak's parents don't believe a word he says and won't kick up a fuss because they have enough in dealing with themselves, which leads him to not really care as much about getting caught. It is also hinted that Magnussen's friends would be invited to participate, the "private concerts", and it is mentioned Isak hates the feeling on eyes on him, because during his performances he would know that a "private concert" was to be held afterwards, and some of the eyes on him belonged to Magnussen's friends who were anticipating what were to happen.

The photographer was simply there in one of the concert halls - whether he was there to photograph the architecture or the event Isak was there to perform for, who knows. It's just an accident that he catches a moment when Magnussen had grown too complacent in the abuse.

I don’t really know what that entails, if I’m honest, sorry xD So just in general! I’m not personally alright with anyone uploading my works on other sites - sharing is cool as long as it links back to my actual story and no one else is taking credit for it. A few people have asked to translate previous works, which I’ve okay’ed as long as they also link back to my story and give credit. I’m also not alright with anyone using my works for any kinds of profit. Thankfully, I haven’t been exposed to this (as far as I know), I’ve just heard horror stories of people stealing and trying to sell fics or og content as books, which ain’t alright.

From what I understand, what you want is basically the equivalent to printing out all 363 pages of the story (yikes, your poor arms whenever you want to read it!) and taping it all together just to read whenever. I don’t think there’s a problem as long as you are using it for personal use, not making a profit off of it, or pretending it isn’t my work/attempting to make it appear as not written by me :) Experiencing something that really means something to you is such a cool feeling, and everyone consumes and enjoys and pays odes to stories in different ways, be it making moodboards or collages or playlists or fanart or wanting to write your own stories. I spent so long writing this story, and the response to it really made my heart burst - I have so many fond memories writing out everything, uploading and replying to comments, hearing what people thought of it and why they liked it and seeing their reactions to plottwists and everything. The entire experience means so much to me, so I’m so genuinely happy it meant something to you, too :)

How are something great isak and even right now? Are they happy? Living their most loved up domestic life? Can we get a glimpse into how happy and fluffy they are right now, feeling safe with one another? 🥺🥺🥺🥺 I reread prologue today for the millionth time and I still choke up to no end

I think we’re going to have to wait for glimpses for when I actually get Even’s POV finished Dx I’ve got loads of scenes planned post the pre-epilogue chapters of how they come to deal with everything and handle “being news” etc. and I know I won’t be able to write any snippets without having all of that in mind and accidentally spoiling something ^_^’

How about this, though: So, they’re having their Movie Night-night, and they’ve chosen this crappy romantic movie - you know, the type that basically has no distinguishable features to it, minimal plotline that makes sense, and not a whole of creativity to it. Needless to say, both Magnus and Even have been loudly criticizing the movie up to this supposed big romantic moment where the main characters have to slow dance together.

And it is awkward - the actors look uncomfortable together, poor directions, not great camerawork, just the works in general. So Even jumps up, wanting to try out various forms the scene could have been made smoother, however Isak basically becomes one with the couch in order to not dance.

But who would love the opportunity to dance with Even?

Magnus, that’s right. It rightly so turns into a mess, because Even is gangly and all limbs, and Magnus is basically breaking his back with some crazy-ass moves. So Isak is hiding behind his hands and Jonas, who is screeching with laughter. Mahdi has started shouting commands at what types of dance he’d like to see rather than feedback (”you call that a cha cha cha? Show me some hustling!” “this is the 21st century - don’t you know that the dance of love is grinding?”)

Obviously, later that evening when they’re getting ready for bed, Isak is about to get in bed when Even puts on slow, quiet music, which - Isak is so confused, because it’s night time. The boys are probably trying to go to sleep as well, what is -

So Even gets to slow dance with Isak, no comments about the movie because that isn’t what this is about.

Naturally, the moment ends when Jonas, Mahdi, and Magnus all manage to simultaneously screech out the lyrics for “can you feel the love tonight” despite being in different rooms - Isak probably would have been impressed, were it not for the fact that they all started in different keys and at different points in the song, despite the very iconic lyrics anyone else would have started out with.

Basically, yeah, they’re happy :) Working on building healthy relationships with each other, with their friends, together and separately, working on themselves so it’s no longer a horrible fright to tell anyone that they’re in love, because they are. Very, very much so.

Do you have any good fanfic recs for Skam/evak that handle things like abuse as well as you do (aside from your own of course)?

This is so cool!! I can’t remember ever having been asked for fic recs, so I cannot begin to tell you how devastated I am that I actually can’t think of any.

Not to say that there aren’t any great ones out there!! More that it’s actually been quite a while since I’ve read any SKAM fics, because I always end up getting too invested and unable to set aside the story/plot/characters in the fic from whatever story I’m writing ^__^’ Also, I remember back when I wrote Red Towels, there were so few abuse fics - like, pretty much one or two pages, fewer for some specific abuse tags. Obviously, I wrote Red Towels because I wanted to write and write that specific story, but it was also a little bit that moment when AO3 doesn’t offer you anymore, so you get that oh no, i’ll have to write it feeling? xD

When I look for abuse fics, I generally use the tags “implied/referenced [insert type of abuse]” or “past [type of abuse]”. The abuse centric fics that I end up liking are rarely about the actual abuse, in the sense that it’s not necessarily about the moments the abuse happens. Obviously, it varies from story to story, but sometimes what holds the biggest impact for me are the moments leading up to it, the tension being built, and the aftermath. Past or implied are great tags when the focus is on how abuse is dealt with, how its impacts are apparent in behavior or thought patterns etc.

The alternative is to not go abuse centric, but rather go for tags like “internalized homophobia” (always a solid choice), various types of mental health tags, “angst” results can in my opinion be quite mixed, so I typically don’t single out any with this tag.

There are a few fics I remember - however, I know there are so many more and it’s just been too long since I last read them, and most aren’t abuse centric so I won’t have bookmarked them as such D’x

“you are my strength when I am weak” by everythingislove is quite an old one that I remember really liking.

“And if your glass heart should break” by DiscoNight from Penetrator Chris’ POV - I’m pretty sure it’s privated on AO3, and I don’t know if the author is alright with it being mentioned?? Someone, please let me know if I need to edit this one out thank you ^.^ If I remember right, it’s a prequel to a much bigger fic they also wrote, but I remember reading this one first and really liking it.

“we’ve made it this far, kid” also by everythingislove is such a good story - it’s not abuse centric, but it’s 100% worth the read anyway.

In other news, I’ve got an abuse centric Evak story in the works - no time frame, but hopefully it’ll turn out great! :D It’s really heavy on how abusive trauma comes to show in behavior and thought patterns and so on, and I’m really loving it.

And thank you, that’s so sweet of you :3 I don’t remember if I’ve said this (I’m pretty sure I have??) but I’m currently in uni, and course-load and exams have practically made it their mission to kick my ass at every possible moment, which is why there are these long breaks where I’m just, completely inactive (and I hate it, but I haven’t unlocked enough levels of adult to figure out how to healthily balance my work life and personal life - maybe in a few years ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

But I am still writing!! (or, am going to be when I get a moment to breathe) Definitely motivated and interested and keeping at it!! :D

As for projects, oh boy. What haven’t I got going on (loads, is the answer, but to go over a few!)

I don’t really have any original projects - I’ve never really liked creating oc’s for some reason? I much prefer having the characters from a show/book/whatever and working off of them for the story/plot whilst still keeping some of the character we all fell in love with intact - I don’t know. I really love making small comments about the OG platform (quotes, moments, mentions, really anything, just small easter eggs for myself and whoever reads the story) that I obvs wouldn’t be able to make with my own OG content xD Everything would be canon then.

As for fanfiction! So much!! Absolutely none of it is finished, because I have zero patience or sense of delayed gratification when it comes to posting - I just want it all out at once and to read everyone’s comments at once xD

I’ve got stories going for a few different fandoms and ideas just written down in my ever-growing ideas-doc for even more! I think I’m going to correctly assume you might be here for the SKAM fics, tho ;p

Basically, I’m horrible with understanding what is and isn’t a spoiler because I know the twists and turns so I just take it all for granted - however, when I actively try to describe a fic without spoilers, they end up sounding genuinely dull xD But I’ll do my best without giving too much away!

I’ve basically got so many stories going at once that I genuinely have no idea how many there are as I always forget some, so here are a selected few!

Obvs, there’s Even’s POV for “Something Great” (aka “that fic” aka my twitter legacy) which is nowhere near done. I’m really loving what I have got down, though! As far as I remember, I’m about 8k in, but I’m shooting for 30-40k, so no time frame. In case you didn’t know, I’ve done an entire announcement post where there are also a few previews included :D

Then there’s a pretty much crack fic with some angst and a way for me to memorize my course work that actually isn’t too far from being finished, but... it needs some work. It’s basically one of those “heeey, you’re pretty much my best friend and I don’t have unrequited feelings for you at all (lies), so it’s totally okay that we pretend to hook up to get back at our roommate who keeps sexciling us only for it to turn real” kind of AU.

Then there’s the other crack fic from boy squad’s POV (well, Jonas, but they practically serve as one entity) about them being oblivious to Evak until one day Isak announces #Evak is real, but they’re just so sure they would have noticed something, so they think Isak and Even are pranking them, so they set out expose them. A+ content, if I have to say so myself.

Next there’s my newest pride and joy that I’ve currently got sitting somewhere between 50-60k with no end in sight. I love this story, I cannot being to describe just how much I love this story. There is so much to this story, and I don’t want to give anything away :’( Basically, Isak has quite serious trauma from something that happened in his childhood, and it’s set during his second year in high school - he’s living in the Kollektiv (with four rooms, ‘cause I aint sending Noora to London), and he’s got the boy squad, Eva and Jonas are still dating so the girl squad also make a lot of appearances. And it’s basically just this major character exploration of the different ways Isak’s trauma appears, how it impacts the way he interacts with other people, the way he sees the world and other people, how he basically doesn’t deal with the trauma and how severely it affects him. And then there’s this entire thing about the sudden suicide of a famous Norwegian pianist (not one of the major characters, I ain’t about that life) that somehow ties into everything and everything turns very shady.

That barely covers the actual story and I’m pretty sure it sounds so jumbled up, but I literally can’t figure out how to describe it without spoilers.

Then we’ve got another angst-galore! A traveling AU! Which, timing, I know. We’ll ignore that. With my pace, it won’t be ready until traveling is allowed again anyway ^__^’ It plays on the themes of lost and found, and it’s basically about how Even travels to find out who he is, but he ends up finding Isak instead, running into him in different cities and countries, and they fall in love, but Isak is traveling to lose himself and everyone - ah. Angst-galore indeed.

What else - there’s a snakesak ABO!AU, because I’ve never written either, and for some reason, I must’ve apparently felt the need to put the two together. ABO is the kind of AU that pretty much everyone holds different opinions on - it’s not a tag I filter out, but it pretty much differs from story to story how much I like it. All I know is, when it is done well, it is done well.

I know there are more, because there are always more. I’ve definitely got so many ideas that I haven’t gotten anything down more than the premise: There’s a murder mystery AU, because I’ve wanted to do one pretty much since I wrote the first chapter for Beat the Record (you know, back when it was still just supposed to be a oneshot xD) and now I’ve finally got a basic storyline for it! Featuring detective Even who has been demoted to a permanent deskjob and basically only kept on out of pity after screwing up evidence? an assignment? plans still pending. Not accepting this, he sets out to catch the new serial killer with the help of newly hired forensic scientist Isak, whom he asks for help because of how talented Isak is, not because Even has a big-ass crush on him. Then there’s the university AU that’s basically a rom/com where Even is one of the hosts for the uni’s radio station, sees pretty boy Isak generally being a mess, falls instantly in love and keeps talking about “the cute boy” on the radio, asking if anyone knows his name and if they can get him his number. Isak only finds out about it because Magnus is a listener and accidentally figures it out.

And so many more. Literally. We are talking pages upon pages, let alone some quite long stories I also have going for other fandoms. I seriously can’t wait - I just need to get myself writing xD

So I finally got time to read Something Great and wow I could not stop. I literally read through it in basically two sittings because I had to sleep at some point but then I went right back to reading and the way you built up their relationship in the past as you showed us how disintegrated it was in the future... the back and forth was a great writing device. I just wanted to let you know I loved it so much and saw you are working on more from Even’s POV and I can’t wait to see that too. 💖💖💖

Having the story play out like that is honestly one of my favourite parts, because it allowed for so much - we got to have a great mystery as to what in the hell happened; the past gets to have a completely different feeling to it as we know something happens, just not what; and purely writing-wise I got to not have half a story full of fluff and then the other half nothing but angst xD

Even's POV is proving to be equally fun and difficult to write. I'm calling it now, hearts will be broken - getting Even's side of everything from when they're still together to being in America to searching for Isak and the post-party, my heart already hurts Dx It's such a trip writing out the same scenes again but from a different perspective.

With that said, still no ETA. It kind of got derailed by a different Evak AU I've been working on for quite a while now (that also has no eta xD wow) that I CANNOT BEGIN TO DESCRIBE how hyped I am about!!!! It's going to be so great. As soon as I actually have the yime to get some writing done :'(

I'm so pleased you liked Something Great. It was my baby for so long - and still is - and it's been months at this point but I still can't get over how many hours of work I put into that story and how much fun I had with it even when I wasn't sure what to write or when things got difficult. The fact that the story can matter as much to you as it does to me really means a whole effing lot to me.
