the smokey musk was discernible upon entering the warehouse, becoming increasingly prominent until it fully engulfed every sense within the van gogh room. it wasn’t dom’s first choice, but he’d gotten lost, and it was the closest path of escape from whatever was going on in the margaret keane room. “hey,” he spoke up, catching sight of a figure that was familiar or appeared familiar, at least. either way, he held up the second water bottle he had with him in offering. “kinda hard to breathe in here, huh?” @radopens
you get all the resources you need to start up any business you want, what do you do?
“professor hayes i know this is you. you’ll find out when i submit my end-of-semester project. in the mean time, i’d start up one of those color me mine places. franklin loved the one a couple blocks from our house, but then it shut down. he’d love if it made a reappearance.”
i heard a rumor you've only been dating girls who are connected to blake in some way so you can get near him yourself... comments?
“i wouldn’t mind being closer to blake. like, friends...if it wouldn’t be too weird. my dating history isn’t some big ploy, though. or, maybe, it is subconsciously. who knows?”
“lana isn’t a toy i keep to entertain myself with. i care about her a lot. this being a stupid question aside, even if we sat together in a room all day long in silence, i would still love it, so.”
hi friends :-) i’ve been shitty w getting back to plotting messages and doing replies bc my brain has just been [static noises]! hopefully later on i can finally get back to people and write, but i just wanted to apologize and let everyone know i’m not ignoring them! :pensive:
triple, venti, half sweet, non-fat, caramel macchiato. and, light ice. dominic had to repeat the order twice and then check the receipt against his phone notes (where all of eileen’s favorites were documented) afterward to make sure nothing was missed. he knew her order by heart, yet it was routine, not wanting to get any of it wrong. tradition meant having coffees together on moving day, helping eileen get settled in. the only difference this time was their relationship status, but he figured that this was a good thing -- the ability to keep things the same, but friendly. stood at the entrance of her dorm room, he caught her attention by giving a tiny shake of the drink in hand. “hey, settling in well?” he asked, a bit lame and uncertain on his tongue. “got you, uh, coffee. figured you could use the pick-me-up.”
dainty fingers wrap around a bottle of what seemed to be iced tea , before she raises it to meet her lips in a lasting sip , triggering the slightest flinch . eyes scan the surrounding area for any witnesses close enough to recognize the scent of liquor , only to cease at the very sight of an all too familiar face . ‘ you won’t snitch on me , will you ? ’ the words roll off her tongue ever so effortlessly with a flick of long , raven colored curls . the worry of seeming improper to the public eye only concerns her until she reaches the right level of intoxication and the girl is very clearly not there just yet . ‘ i’m willing to share . ’ a bat of long eyelashes accompanies the brunette’s voice , lips curling to form a cheeky smile .
he almost bumps into her, caught up in the laundry list of things he has to get done. the beginning of the school year was always rough, but this one especially so -- finish line in sight, there were still plans that needed to be made, things that needed to get done. that, and there was his job and his family and his other job. milla’s voice forces him to slow down though, and there’s a smile at dominic’s lips despite the exhaustion that weighs him down -- sunken eyes and all. “snitch on you?” dominic tries to clarify, but as soon as the question is out, he smells the alcohol on her breath and connects the dots. “oh, no. we’re not in perkins so you’re, uh, free to do whatever.” a hesitant nod of reassurance follows suit. “i’m good. i was actually about to go grab a coffee if you wanted to join. you could maybe get a muffin. iced tea on an empty stomach...not great. unless, you’ve already eaten, then that’s cool.”
「luke hemmings & cis male」⇾ evans, dominic, the senior radcliffe student’s records show that he is a cancer and 23 years old. he is studying business management, living in perkins and can be reliable, intuitive, irresolute & temperamental. when i see him i am reminded of an extra set of hands to help carry groceries, cold leftovers eaten after hours in the glow of a refrigerator light, stinging eyes and stubbly cheeks.
hello! i’m ella and i’m excited to rp with everyone. apologies for the late intros (i’m playing dom & freya) but if ur down to clown (plot), hit that like and i’ll message you!!
(death tw, alcoholism tw) dominic grew up with a pretty decent, loving childhood. it was just him, his mom, miriam, and dad, stephen. to keep it brief, things took a turn for the worse once dominic hit thirteen – his dad had a work-related accident at the construction site he was overseeing and unfortunately passed away. it was tough on the already small family, but dominic never really got much of a chance to grieve. he had to step up for his mom, especially since she fully wallowed in her grief – drinking too much, not able to keep up with everyday demands. things were only made worse as the family got caught up in a lawsuit with stephen’s work. a settlement was reached at a lower sum than promised. his aunt lived with them for a bit, but as his mom spiraled not many people wanted to be around her, so the aunt didn’t stay long. his mom went back and forth – some days better than the rest. she started to get reliant on other men and whenever she was in a relationship that was going well, she was back to a semblance of her old self and to a better place.
her relationships didn’t last long. through all of this, dominic was just sort of picking up the pieces. he took on a job alongside school to help provide and pick up expenses. he made sure his mom was fed. he kept her on the right path when he could, which was usually whenever she was single. breakups were the lowest points for her. dominic sort of got into the habit of living his life out for her instead of himself, so he was neglecting lots of himself unfortunately.
going to college was something he struggled with. there was the financial burden, the fact that he had to take care of his mom, etc. a part of him did want to do it, get away for a bit, and actually do this one thing for himself. another part of him was overriden with guilt over the whole ordeal. during that point in his life, his mom was in a new relationship and this guy was a mess. dominic didn’t approve and he was getting frustrated so he was gonna say fuck it i’m leaving (but lbr he probs wasn’t either way) but then surprise! his mom was pregnant. dominic’s half-brother, franklin, was born when he was eighteen. dominic took the year off highschool to look out for him bc….his mother was Too Busy. her relationship went sour and she was off the rails for a bit.
again, dominic’s sweet aunt stepped in as much as she could. she was the one that encouraged him to go ahead and give college a try. he eventually ended up applying to radcliffe bc it was local. he lived at home for the first year, so he was still able to care for his mom and brother. also, more affordable. his brother’s now five and he’s able to go to preschool, and his mother’s currently on the better side of things -- sober and has a job, although there are lapses in her sobriety. the latest lapse was at the end of his junior year, so dominic’s been more hyperfocused on his family than he usually is (which is still a lot).
this is his second year working as an RA at perkins because who doesn’t want free board while getting paid and reigning in students who want to be meddlesome! dominic still continues his job at the local supermarket as well when he can pick up shifts, since he has a good relationship with the manager. he makes frequent trips back home and sometimes you can catch franklin hanging out with him at campus.
other fun facts is that he’s a cancer. he’s a pretty easy going, very emotionally intelligent. i think he’s super good at adapting his moods to whatever situation is at hand. for example, he’s able to fuck around and have fun at a party but then when he’s working, he’s responsible. that being said, dominic is still big on his limits. he’s not someone to get drunk on a wednesday night for the hell of it. doesn’t get high at all. has to-do lists to keep himself organized. overall though, i think he has a good balance of being able to have fun and remain grounded. he just refuses to be selfish in a way that would hurt his mom or brother or anyone else. as a person, i think he’s fairly well-adjusted despite everything (or at least comes off that way). his biggest faults are that he sacrifices so much of himself for others but it is what it is. drives an early 2000s green honda civic as well.
