The Shape Of Things To Come

DWAI is once again about to grow. Our events are averaging 10+ teams per event, usually with very minimal "official" advertising. Everybody who plays in the DWAI Gaming Solo Queue Tournaments knows whats up. They come back more and more because they want to win! Hell, I win on them and I'm not all that ingame. We offer prizing to those of you who come in first through fourth, and that kind of prizing structure makes it really easy to prize people out.

On top of that I try to offer things to the other regions like skin codes, contests for RP, that sort of thing. I've already prized one person out of my personal funds, and six more will join him. People from all over the world are going to be prized as soon as I'm done here.

I'm going to add on some more "support" for other regions in DWAI. I constantly get the questions of "Yo Dec, I see you doin some good in NA, but what about [Insert Region Here]", and now I will give the answer!

I need two things to run DWAI in any other Region, as far as League of Legends is concerned. I need 1) Any one person who is willing to take charge and shape the region into something successful. This means both taking the glory when everybody's happy and taking the blame when the shit hits the fan. This person is known to us as a "Region Director". They join us in our meetings and discuss with us the concerns of the people in their region. They also make suggestions to forward DWAI as a whole.

Secondly, I need a community! I need a group of people willing to step right in and play some League of Legends with us! We don't shy away from anybody, but we primarily speak english, which is why it's hard to get into, say, the KR/CN servers.

With the first, the second tends to take care of itself. I tend to task that person with generating so much buzz about this new upcoming group called DWAI Gaming that people from all over show up! We offer competitive and casual games for any skill level, although the competitive ones require a ranking.

I bring this up because I have news!

DWAI's OCE and EUW groups are making a grand return! We have people in each region that are incredibly dedicated and willing to get the name out, and we also have communities in both who have been asking for this for a long time now. When I first started, we had a bit of an EUW following, but they left by the time I took over. OCE started to develop as I came in, and it kind of petered out, but we're gonna bring both back in glorious fashion!

I plan on starting off with some small "Draft Night"-esque events, getting the community warmed up to us, perhaps some RP giveaways while we're all together. As we get more and more people interested in both of these regions, we then ramp it up with Yoloqueue, an event that has proven its worth time and time again in NA, to the point where we do it on a weekly basis and everybody loves it! We take this already-proven tournament structure to the other servers and it's almost surely a hit. As we get those regularly integrated into the region, we notice friendships form, alliances forge, and then we try to fashion up a team circuit! Be it the League of DWAI in OCE, or the DWAICS in NA, some form of it will return and inhabit all three regions.

We have other, even bigger tournaments in the incubation phases, that we haven't even offered to NA yet. Rest assured, we will have them ready in all three regions we offer support to in due time.

Streamer Guidelines, Pt 2!

NOTE: This is part two of a guide that helps streamers attract viewers. You can find the first part here 

Toxicity: This one's a pretty common sense thing, particularly in DWAI. We emphasize nontoxicity, and that kind of mindset should affect those people who are actively advertising their stream. I'm not going to say you have to be a perfect angel (granted, both of my featured streamers are basically angels), but you probably shouldn't engage in toxic behavior on the facebook pages and expect to get views from us.

INSTEAD: .....this is a no-brainer. Don't be toxic. Easy peasy. 

I think that's about it as far as things people coming in and advertising their stream can do. 

COMMUNITY: Do you want to see some of these not-so-good streamers go away? It's simple! Do one of the following:

Report the posts! In order for us to see 100% of the posts that you guys deem unworthy for any reason, we need to know that they're not worth being in DWAI! That's where Facebook's report function comes in handy. It alerts everybody who is an administrator in the page to posts. If it seems like a legit post to us, expect a PM from an admin on duty to see what the hubub is. Better yet, be proactive and PM said admins yourself! It's up to you, really.

Describe, in detail, what is wrong with any given post So what I see from some of you is "oh you're doing something stupid stop it nobody cares". Very few of you actually go into detail to this person, and they, in response, get butthurt. Like I said in the previous iteration of these guidelines, they're selling themselves. If nobody wants to buy them, that makes them feel like garbage as it is, but then going at them with a negative attitude also fuels that fire and that can potentially start a shitstorm we don't need! Instead of wording it in a negative way (going back to that nontoxicity here!), word it in a way that tells this person what is wrong in a positive manner, and even offer suggestions! An example recently was somebody posting their stream and using somebody else's videos to generate interest in the stream. People called him out on it and now he doesn't do it anymore!

Hope this helps, both the streamer trying to get views and the community trying to prune what is and isn't appropriate for DWAI!

Streamer Guidelines!

NOTE: This is a guide to help streamers attract viewers from the DWAI community.

Before I start this up I just want to thank the community we have in DWAI Gaming. Any other community would have just brushed some of the posts we see on a daily basis to the side. But not DWAI. They want to see the community get bigger, and they show me that by pointing out the people who are of suspect or otherwise sketchy. Any streamer who comes in is essentially selling themselves to the community, and the community will see them as either worthy of or unworthy of what it is being "sold". They will also be vocal about it! Because while the motto is "Don't Worry About It", the motto is also nontoxicity and friendliness, which you will adhere to or be shown the door.

A few of the things DWAI does not tolerate are, but are not limited to:

Unsourced or outright stolen content: Content that isn't yours should not be used to advertise something that is yours without permission from the content creator. For example, one of our featured streamers ( leagueofvictory) is also a noted .gif maker. They created a gif of my Sion on the PBE using his new ultimate. That gif made its way to elohell, who is notorious for ripping off content without sourcing the content creators. That is just not going to be tolerated in DWAI.

INSTEAD: If you insist on posting a video or posting a picture when you're going to stream, consider a funny picture or video from streams past. My personal stream's (x) hook is "You don't have a PBE account, I do, come watch what might happen in the future!" so I don't have to post a picture unless something spectacular happens.

Coming onto the pages just to plug your stream: I have no personal beef with this, so long as you follow the posted rules on our facebook pages but a good way not to get the community involved is to not interact with them! That's community 101. When you're streaming, you're creating a community using yourself  Talk to the people, they're not just random plebs off the internet. They're special!

INSTEAD: DWAI's featured streamers Techtonic and Jarose both offer their viewers the chance to play with them in "Viewer Games", and DWAI loves that sort of thing. We as a community also offer up prized tournaments every week that the community participates in. Consider participating in those as well! If the community knows who you are before you start streaming, you are more likely to get more viewers from DWAI. We like watching "our own" stream, especially when they keep within the rules posted on our fb pages.

Goals for DWAI Gaming

So, a lot of things I write here are subject to change as time passes, but I thought I'd share some of what I feel DWAI should be moving towards in the future. I'm going to split this up into the three divisions we currently have, starting with my home region, NA.

NA: North American DWAI "suffers" from being over saturated as far as communities, sponsored teams, gaming houses and the like go. However, we bring something special to the table in that we are a nontoxic organization, whereas if you have seen some of the Facebook pages of some of these communities, hoo boy. I maintain that when everybody is on point, our events are some of the greatest run on the server. Our goal, therefore, is to simply ensure that our events, from our casual Draft Nights to our competitive Yoloqueue/DWAICS Splits, are all well maintained, well done, perfectly executed, and most importantly, consistent. If we can pull off consistent, well executed events, we will soon enough be one of those top groups noticed by the bigs. Our goal within the next year-and-a-half is to run at least one live tournament. I am in the process of getting experience on this, and when I get confirmation on said experience, I will be back to announce it!

OCE: Oceania has the inverse issue that NA seems to have. Oceania has all of the right people to talk to in their sights, it's more a matter of a lack of community. This is priority #1, and the Director of Oceania (say hi, Pixie) as well as his staff are working tirelessly on getting that up to speed. I expect OCE to have a moment in which they actually eclipse NA, just because I feel as though when they get the community rolling, they will have both the members that NA has, as well as the backing of important people. Their goal is to bring up a community. To do this, we will be advertising heavily on the applicable outlets to get our name out there into the stars.

Global: For the uninitiated, the Global division is a division that exists simply because some things can't be segregated by region. For example, casters can be available in both NA or OCE (or EUW should the need arise), as can coaches thanks to VOD uploads. There's also the social media, which is, again, not region locked. Global has a lot of little moving parts, and all of them have to be moving simultaneously. The Global Goal is to make regular checkups onto the various departments, keeping the gears turning. It is said that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and this is the strategy we will employ in this "region".

General: Our general goal will be to get our name out there as a unified front. Within the next week we will have posts on the League of Legends Reddit, a bigger Facebook presence, and potentially a larger Tumblr following. Our goal as a whole will be to expand, have our membership swell.

Time Frame: NA's time frame is within the next year-and-a-half. As we're seven months into the year already, it seems appropriate to allot that much time to it. Within the year, I'd like to have done at least one live tournament under DWAI's name. Be it the DWAICS finals, or some teams who haven't quite made it pro competing in a tournament under our name, it just has to be under the DWAI name. As I mentioned above, I'm potentially going to gain experience in that field within the next six months. Before that, however, is three months from now. And in three months, NA will shift from having a "for funsies" event in Draft Night on Fridays (which will be shifted to another date, for those who still want in on that) to running a prized event on a weekly basis. We're going to start bi-weekly as we get staff used to turning in the papers, but we will definitely be transitioning into a weekly basis within three months.

OCE should see rampant growth within the next few months as we work at a fervent pace to get things going and having turnouts for events. As mentioned above, OCE has the "right people" to talk to, we just need to get this region a proper community to support all the amazing things we can do with a region not quite yet tapped as far as gaming communities go. Give it six months, and OCE will have a community. Give it a year and this community will be the biggest one in OCE!

Global will be a constant checking and rechecking, and will be done eternally.

Blurb #16 Eat.Sleep.Lose

Our final blurb comes to us from Group C, the final team in Group C (as being the final blurb should imply). This is Eat.Sleep.Lose.

In the top lane is bandmeeting. Bandmeeting has both AP and AD in his champion pool, and relies on heavy hitters such as Rumble and Renekton who can get tanky but still knock you silly if you aren't paying attention!

Playing jungle is the aptly named ijustjungle. ijustjungle plays the in-meta champions, primary among them Elise. He can also be seen on Lee Sin and Kha'Zix.

Midding for Eat.Sleep.Lose. is Beyond The Meta. Beyond The Meta, to no surprise, pulls out uncommon picks in the midlane such as Zed and Brand. Lulu can also be seen lurking in this lane.

And finally in the bot lane is buniboy on marksman and Zarcath, the team captain, on support. buniboy plays standard marksmen like Lucian and Jinx, depending on team need. Zarcath is capable of playing a pretty robust pool of support champions, such as Leona, Alistar, and Thresh.

This team is Bronze in Ranked 5s, but no team should ever be overlooked when coming into the DWAICS. Surprises overtake the most confident in their arrogance. As they're all new to DWAI, please welcome them with open arms like we always do!

Blurb #15 Feeking Amazing

This blurb was actually guest written by Feeking Amazing's Team Manager, HaAn "Fenikkusu" Thi. As such, words are coming from her, and not me. They are in Group B in the DWAICS, and are the final group in Group B to be talked about!

Feeking Amazing is a sexy-ass group originally based in LOLRVA (an MD/VA/NC LoL community) with a DWAI-recruited top laner.

Our top laner is Nomad II, he plays meta champions, nothing interesting.

Our mid and jungler  are in love with other, and are collectively called FeekimusMaximus. Jungler, goswrehepleases also plays meta champions, and goes where our midlaner, Perplexity, pleases. 

Our bot lane, RagnellRising and Gooshy are undoubtedly top notch. Ragnell used to only play Sivir, and Gooshy only Singed but they are currently being whipped in shape. 

The team is still sorting out kinks but for the time being everyone pretends they love each other. Ranked 5's play can be considered similar to Season 3 Dignitas ie every baron is a battlefield.

Blurb #14 Turn Up Function

Our next team is from Group B, with members primarily in DWAI. Some of these IGNs these guys picked are a little ... heh. I digress, the team is Turn Up Function.

Up first in the top lane is hasteyourdeath. hasteyourdeath plays tankier champions up top with Shyvana and Renekton, but can fall back onto Lee Sin should the need arise. He is also the team's primary shot caller.

In the jungle is ... sigh, Cum Juggler. He favors single target burst damage junglers, and has Udyr and Rengar to serve those needs. 

Coming in the midlane is Sir Cuhmcised. He's a bit of a regular in DWAI, and has the standard champions like Ziggs and Syndra in his pool. He also has a pocket Jayce to pull out once and again.

And finally the bot lane with the mercifully regular names of Anthaeus on marksman and Epwnzies, the team captain, on support. Anthaeus plays the standard picks bot lane with Caitlyn, Lucian, and Twitch. Epwnzies is a regular in DWAI and has won multiple Solo Queue Tournaments in the past with her jungle game. She primarily plays Leona, Janna, and Nami, favoring the teamfight supports.

All told, they have yet to play in Ranked 5s. However, they're all pretty good friends and look to take that friendship synergy into the DWAICS.

Blurb #13 Nunchuck Ninjas

Our final team in Group D is actually the very last entrant into the DWAICS. Introducing Nunchuck Ninjas, who took the spot (aptly named) rip in pepperoni had originally.

In the top lane is ItzColder. He likes to play mobile champions topside. He favors Shyvana, Yasuo, and Nidalee. He has damage for every situation!

In the jungle is the artist formerly known as TwoShiv Demon. This man is Sahbaz. Sahbaz plays an odd assortment of junglers, which include Shaco, Zed, and Kayle.

The midlaner for Nunchuck Ninjas is the captain, Godlike Nidalee! You might know him as Best Nidalee NA from last season. With a name like Godlike Nidalee, you'd think his Nidalee game was on point. You'd be right! He also plays a mean Lux and LeBlanc.

And in the bottom lane for the team is Marksman/Shot Caller Silent Prodigy and support TrainOfThought. Prodigy plays the favorable Lucian, safe Caitlyn, and risky Graves, while TrainOfThought keeps his carry alive with Braum, Leona, and Thresh.

This team is Silver in Ranked 5s. They have been quoted as saying "the only team we fear in groups is Auxiliary, but we are confident that we can make it out of groups." With their lineup, they can give any team a run for their money!

Blurb #12 Augmented Gaming

Group D has some of the more ancient teams in DWAI, and Augmented Gaming is no exception! This group of longtime friends has also been in DWAI for a long time.

Starting from the top, we have RablyPale. Rablypale plays difficult-to-kill, single target damage champions. To this end, he has Riven, Ryze, and Xin Zhao at his disposal.

In the jungle is AngryBlakMan. Angryblakman enjoys playing area of effect teamfight champions such as Amumu and Maokai. He also plays Pantheon for mandrop justice!

In the midlane is Vahldez. He favors divebomb assassin-esque champions in the midlane, and tends to favor Ahri and Diana. However, he also has Lux in reserve for a safer pick.

And finally in the bot lane is Illicitous and KingKasou22. Illicitous loves him some poke oriented marksmen, and plays Corki, Varus, and Sivir to that effect. KingKasou is the director for North America, and a former head coach for DWAI. He plays to accentuate his carry, and has Sona, Zyra, and Blitzcrank to that end.

All told, this team is actually Gold in Ranked 3s, and Silver in Ranked 5s. They have AngryBlakMan calling the shots as far as teamfights go, and also have him as captain of the team. This team's been around a very long time, and looks to be a top player in the DWAICS.

Blurb #11 Tough Customers

In Group D we have Louisiana-based Tough Customers. This team has been in and around DWAI for a very long time, back before even I was a member. They participated in the "beta" split back then, and look to bring their experience over into the new and improved DWAICS!

In the top lane is the primary shotcaller, gainsay. gainsay plays area effect champions up there, such as Kennen and Aatrox. He can also pull out Irelia, who is slowly gaining popularity in North America!

In the jungle is the team's captain, Dunkmaster Jon. Jon plays champions with a lot of crowd control like Nautilus and Skarner, but can pull out the Master Yi if its time to hard carry!

Midding for Tough Customers is bloki0022. bloki plays off-meta picks such as Mordekaiser and Jayce, and also has Annie to play for teamfight compositions.

Finally, the bot lane for the team is the artist formerly known as "hewligan", saltinald on marksman, and cyraan on support. saltinald plays Caitlyn, Sivir, and Vayne. He's also deadly on Lucian! cyraan plays poke-y champions such as Lulu and Zyra, but can also pull out Leona for some tank.

As a unit, this team is gold in Ranked 5s. This team has been around for at least a year, to the point where they have a team cook. They're very close-knit, with murray as their cook, and paul2 as the team coach. They have the experience to make it big in the DWAICS!

Blurb #10 kT Trash Bags

From Group B comes along a team that is full of (humorous) egos and inside jokes. They currently go by Instaburst, but are considering a name change to  kT Garbage Bags!

EDIT: They have confirmed that their new name is indeed kT Trash Bags

In the top lane, it's Mashumaro. Mashumaro plays, in his words, "The Big Rs" in the top lane. Champions include Renekton and Rengar, but can also pull off Ryze. One wonders if he can pull off Riven, Rammus, and Rumble, the final three "R" named champions...

In the jungle is VxWhitefangxV . Whitefang is the captain, and plays mobile champions capable of going from lane to jungle and back often. Common champions played are Vi, Lee Sin, and Kha'Zix.

Midlaning for Instaburst/kT Garbage Bags is kT ProdigyX, the inspiration behind the proposed name change. Prodigy claims to be able to play every midlane champion, but primarily pulls out the Kassadin, as well as Lux.

Lastly, in the botlane is Omnislash on marksman and Doctor E Trill on support. Omnislash plays the ever-popular Twitch, as well as the not-so-popular Varus, as well as Jinx. Doctor E Trill plays oddball supports, such as Alistar and Janna, but also has Nami. He touts his Janna as "the best Janna ever".

Collectively, this team is platinum in Ranked 5s, currently undefeated at 6-0! The communication skills on this team are very much on point. Outside of game, they're all funny individuals, jokingly bashing one another. They're based in Michigan with a laxed out-of-game atmosphere and all business ingame. This makes a formidable team in groups!

Blurb #9 Team Side Beers

The final team of Group A comes to us from all over, in the form of Team Side Beers!

Starting top lane is Asedelf, a name familiar to those of you who tune into DWAI Gaming's Summoner Draft Night. He's a regular color commentator there. His champion pool is very varied, capable of playing exactly what his team needs. Common picks are in-meta champions, such as Renekton, Trundle, but on occasion a Lee Sin as well.

In the jungle is the team captain, Bubbyzoid. Bubbyzoid has a very strange jungle pool, adapting Karthus to fit into the jungle. Perhaps a little more "traditional" is his Rengar, but he also has Kayle that he can access as well.

jesusflipnchrist, it's the mid laner! jesus can play to his team's needs, and has a healthy pool to boot. Common champions played are LeBlanc, Lulu, and Orianna.

And finally on bot lane is xNew Breed on marksman, and EclipseNova on support. xNew Breed throws out some picks that are slowly gaining popularity in North America like Kog'Maw, but also has Caitlyn and Ashe to play as well. EclipseNova is a terror on Thresh, but can also be seen on Leona and Nami, depending on team need.

This team is another who has yet to play Ranked 5s, but nonetheless come to DWAICS with, frankly, the strangest champion pool of all of the teams. Whether they plan on throwing curveballs to their opposition or they plan on solid outplay, they're definitely the wild card of Group A.

From Group A, it's a team that has been a part of DWAI for over six months at this point, under various names such as "Team Cancel", and "Maryland Gaming". This is Team Voltaic.

In the top lane is pandax42. pandax has a carry-oriented top lane roster, with picks such as Tryndamere and Jax, who deal loads of damage and in Tryndamere's case, split push to victory!

Jungling for Team Voltaic is ArcticEditor, one of the team's captains! ArcticEditor plays pick junglers such as Elise and Vi, but also has an exceptional Lee Sin game as well!

DoctorLe serves as the team's midlaner. He has a robust roster, with picks for every composition you can think of. He plays in-meta champions such as LeBlanc, Orianna, and Ziggs!

And lastly, the bot lane of captwile and co-captain IraqiPenguin round off Team Voltaic. captwile as marksman plays the standard Lucian and Twitch, as well as Jinx. IraqiPenguin, as support, plays teamfight champions like Leona and Annie, as well as Thresh!

Voltaic is Silver in ranked 5s, well on their way to Gold! As one of the longest lasting teams in DWAI, as well as the most consistent of rosters, their coordination is on point. They will prove to be a contender in the group stages and beyond!

DWAICS is a team circuit that is going to be run from the 18th of June until the 10th of July, with prizes for the top teams! Signups are closed, and groups are announced. We begin our group stages on the 18th, with Group A being played out in its entirety. Group B will play on the 19th, and C the following Wednesday (June 25th), with the last group, Group D playing on the 26th of June. Finally, we have the playoffs with the top two teams per group taking part in a single elimination tournament spanning two weeks!

Blurb #7 Kill A La Kill

Coming up is Kill A La Kill, a very modest (in attitude) team comprised primarily of DWAI Gaming members. One day they were all sitting around and then decided to make a team, but then decided "oh hey the DWAICS is coming ... lets enter that!" And here we are. They are in Group C!

In the top lane is the teamfight shotcaller for Kill A La Kill, Candywinds. Everybody knows about Candywinds' fearsome Rengar. It's his #1 pick or ban champion in Summoner Draft Night. He also tends to play Jax, and Kayle, giving him a very carry oriented lineup in the top lane with a variety of damage types.

Coming out of the jungle is Chef A La Ma, the captain for Kill A La Kill as well as the early game shotcaller. Chef plays a fantastic (if a little oddballed) Lee Sin, it was 100% banned away from him for several months straight in Summoner Draft Nights! He also has Wukong and Elise to fall back on, in case that trend continues on in the DWAICS.

In the mid is AsimiChroma. Asimi plays support champions in the midlane. No, really she does. Sona and Morgana can be seen here, and not from a bot lane rotation. She also has Orianna to play in this lane, giving her a nice wombo combo/teamfight pool to choose from.

And rounding off this team in the bot lane is Zigipan on Marksman and TimeSadness on support. Zigipan plays both Lucian and Draven in the bot lane, while Don't-Call-Her-Summer TimeSadness can be seen on Leona, one of her strongest champions. She also has the potential to make the 100% Wife Steal bot lane with Thresh.

In Ranked 5s, this team (as of this writing) actually hasn't played any games. Collectively, however, they have been playing for awhile. They have a great bot lane coach in Ugu, as well as a general analyst in Drank, both of which are on the same team themselves (not in DWAICS, mind you). As relative wildcards, they feel like they can push themselves towards victory in their groups, and perhaps find old rivals in Sky Zodiac, where 3/5s of the roster originally came from (and Chef was formerly captain of!)

Blurb #6 Exit 44 eSports

The sixth team to be featured is a startup group named after the exit they all take to get home, So-Cal based Exit 44 eSports. They are all new to DWAI, and reside in Group C in the DWAICS groups.

In the top lane, it’s solmanicknight. solmanicknight plays teamfight based champions, and can go either Magic Damage or Attack Damage to great effect in his lane depending on matchup/composition requested. Common themes include Vladamir, Shyvana, and Shen.

In the jungle, we have the captain/shotcaller, iamvirii. iamvirii plays mobile champions such as Lee Sin and Elise, but also has tankier junglers such as Shyvana on retainer in case team composition calls for it.

In the midlane is danfourthious. danfourthious favors a mixed variety of mid laners including Zed, Twisted Fate, and Karma. He picks depending on what the team needs at the time, and can pull off almost any kind of composition with his pool.

Finally in the bot lane, Legaato on AD Carry and da24funny24one by his side on support. Legaato is the brother of iamvirii, and favors Jinx, Vayne, and Lucian. Meanwhile, da24funn24one plays a different support depending on composition necessity, and can pull off Morgana, Thresh, and Lulu.

Collectively, they are bronze in Ranked 5s. The vast majority of the team has been together for a few years, and are now taking it seriously. They have analysts and a diamond-level coach helping them along the way. They have nowhere to go but up, and are looking to try their luck here in the DWAICS.
