Something a tad different. With the new trailer out I decided why not draw one of my fave couples

regarding the new shrek teaser and designs or whatever i feel like the words most people are looking for is that shrek had a very strong and intentional visual identity. the designs were meant to resemble realism (as well as it could be resembled at the time) specifically to both separate the movie from the disney princess stories that had more exaggerated features and to directly oppose those same disney designs.

shrek remained one of the only major animated franchises which had both fantasy and non-fantasy characters look somewhat realistic. it became a brand. drastically changing not just the design of major shrek characters, but the LOGIC behind the designs is. a bad move. it’s not like the models have never been updated, just look at shrek 4.

more than anything this shows a level of detachment from what made shrek such a standout franchise. i hope the script is good because. yikes.

Everyone has a lot to say about the new shrek movie but one thing that is just going straight to my early 2000s baby heart is just like. Look at Shrek and Fiona. They’re old. They have grownup kids. They’ve been married for decades, they’re so in love, think about all the beautiful years they’ve had together offscreen like, just thinking about the first movie and them meeting and look at them now! Old married couple! Long happy marriage!!! I’m so happy for them! we got to see Shrek and Fiona grow old together !!!
