Layout inspiration
1st Idea: Streetwear and music magazine
1) The main focus will be street clothes and music. The magazine will establish the connection between music and fashion. Topics will be divided into several sections first by showing different kinds of albums of all genres. Then we'll have the music discovery sections where ill be showing music of all kinds. Finally, the importance of music and fashion in our society today.2) The magazine format will be printed, to show the vintage part of it. Size: 8 inches by 10. For this work, I will be mixing collage, photography, drawing and illustration. 3) For my layout strategy, I found the column strategy from the book Making and Breaking the Grid. It will allow me to work and show a lot more images
1) In this magazine, the emphasis will be on the importance of sport in human life. Use of steroids in athlete's life, influence of drugs and alcohol. The mental health of athletes due to the challenges and pressure they regularly face. 2) It will be a web magaz
This redesign work is called the plantah a the only animal plant in the world. It is a mix of a cheetah and a normal plant. His leaves are as normal as a plant but the texture, skin and colour are from the cheetah. The main goal of the design is that I wanted to do something out of the ordinary and minimalistic this is where the texture comes from. I was inspired by the cheetah plant when I saw a fake plant for sale on amazon. I thought it would be interesting to give a different meaning to a plant while not destroying its natural elements. The first for this design was to find a nice cheetah skin with a good texture after I used the ellipse tool to create different types of leaves. Then, I put the cheetah skin on my leaves. After, I created the flowerpot that I wanted two of different shapes because I had to create two plantah. Then I finished by creating my orange background with the scattered dots that still come from the skin of the cheetahs. This work is simple but has a deeper meaning because plants and animals benefit from each other as members of food chains and ecosystems. When animals die and decompose, they enrich the soil with nitrates which stimulate plant growth.
FOR THE PLANT I'M PLANNING ON DOING PLAYING AROUND WITH LEAVES MAYBE CHANGE THE COLOURS, THE SHAPE OR THE SIZE. I ALSO WANT TO ADD A PLUS TO THE PLANT.
For the cheetah, I want to play around with the colour of his spots and his eyes.
First of all, this font assignment was inspired by the work of Sacre Frangine. Both works have a similar background made with precise colours. The separation of the letters shows the still life, like Frangine's work I wanted to give a feeling of pleasure to the letters. To continue, I explored the beauty of the simplicity in the alignment and position of the letters. Both pieces managed to work on expression through minimalist illustration by focusing on harmony and playing with the shape and size. For the colours, the two works have the similarity of a great simple approach, it blocks in an abstract style. As the work by Frangine, I was able to play with similar colour palettes. The two designs mix figurations and abstractions, I shared a luminous and aesthetic universe by doubling each letter which revolves around positivity. Then there is the texture, both works are made as if they are translucent, thin tissue paper used to wrap and stuff objects as if it were some kind of tissue paper. Both works show why creativity doesn't have to be complicated to have a pleasant esthetic.
DRAFT
I chose this artwork by Kate Moross because I admire the way she used typography as a tool in these vibrant colours. She made this carefree message look so joyful by fooling around with the size and colours of the letters.
I chose this work because it shows why creativity doesn't have to be complicated to have a pleasant esthetic. This piece by Sacrée Fangine is minimalistic but the meaning behind it is powerful. I love the way they are presenting sisterhood. The choice of colours is precise. Using a portrait for this design beautifies the work and allows the viewer to see all details.
Work by graphic designer Sacrée Frangine to support the Black Lives Matter movement.
Made summer 2020
First of all, my poster's message is about justice for the black community. Let it be known that after all these years we are still waiting and then it is frustrating. The aim was to give people the chance to differentiate between accountability and justice while giving some hope.
To begin with, I used the rectangle tool to create a yellow background I wanted a colour that captivates the attention. Then, I wanted to put an accent on the word "accountability" because it is the main accent of the poster so I used the type tool and I chose to do it Georgia by enlarging the size of the letters. I set the vertical scale to 200% the horizontal to 175% to give a big volume to the word. I used the underline tool to highlight and put an emphasis on the word. Then at the bottom, for "we're still waiting for justice" in small font to let know that there's still a little bit of hope.
Afterwards, with the ellipse tool, I draw a black oval, then I made an alignment by writing the names of some African Americans who passed away in the previous years. Always to give an accent on the names I chose the Silom font.
To finish, I think at the bottom of everything I put a photo of Martin Luther King jr with the option place in files. This photo meant that we're all in this together and that sooner or later we'll have our justice.
I encountered a little challenge when it was time to write over the background. I had difficulties placing the layers one on top of the other.
