#clay jensen is the most precious boy on earth
Thank you.
minhyukxpark:
Wandering was a part of Minhyuks daily routine - habit even if one wanted to stretch it out so far. He honestly had god no idea why he was even here, why he was a seemingly ‘valued’ guest and so forth. But it had always been his peculiar curiosities with the mysteries of the universe that led him to accept odd invitations. It was an adventure, one that would hopefully inspire him with all the muse he’d been needing.
He had thought himself alone, enraptured with his own thoughts as they meandered through his mind like an abstract swirl - but then concentration was broken. He was a bit startled, only to realize that the person who was addressing him was surely human and not a figment of his imagination. “Thanks,” was the most of what he could mutter as he let the other man speak on. It wasn’t like Minhyuk wasn’t socially adept, he was just naturally predispositioned to be a tad awkward with strangers. Now, if the man became a friend, the dynamics would surely differ. “Seems like you’re doing the same, pretty ballsey too,” he didn’t deliver the words as a way to insult, rather, he was simply pointing out the obvious. “…from what I can asses, you’re one of those types they hire around to sniff out clues, aren’t you? That or you just like to wear a gun holster to look edgy,” he mentioned casually with a shrug. Observation was a trait that no artist could escape.
dylan couldn’t help taking in the male. he didn’t know his place here, exactly, and being at a potential murder scene wasn’t exactly a great first impression. the male looked friendly enough, if not a bit unsure. he didn’t fit a murderer’s profile, but then again- those you least suspected were usually the most villainous. “that’s one way of putting it.” dylan said, with a shrug. “you do know that this is a police crime scene now, right? not just anybody can come wandering along.” he tried not to be too suspicious of the male. dylan was naturally an optimist, but even he could admit this was a strange place for the male to be. sure, dylan was just looking around for now, but he never knew when he’d find something, and the less people that were around to contaminate- the better.
“i don’t know if i’m a type. i am a detective though, yes.” he pulled out his badge, flashing it to the other. “detective dylan hyuk. i promise, the gun isn’t nearly as fashionable as it looks. it’s actually kinda heavy.” although he was used to the weight strapped to him by now, dylan was hoping to lighten the mood, as much as he could when someone had just been murdered. “mind if i ask you a few questions?” he was pulling out his notebook now, and clicking his pen.
ofwaterfalls:
sofiya looks at the ground once again, “okay… good. hopefully not,” she says with a frown, “if you did, more of your blood may be joining it soon.” she threatens, nowhere near serious. “but i don’t think this has anything to do with the main thing, i’m not even sure if this blood is human yet, it could be an animal’s.” she’d always been a bit overly analytical with things like these, and as much as she wants it to be a clue, there are plenty of animals who could have bled right here.
“if i was a reporter, i think i’d have a lot more trouble with figuring out what’s going on.” she says with a smile, knowing it to be true. she’d never been cut out for things like reporting, or really any job that may require her to speak in front of a group at all. she was built to hide away with her work, or at least she was turned into that by her circumstances. “i think it’s just me, for now, if that helps. they didn’t want to loan us all out for the day.” she knows she’s not exactly the picture of a forensic scientist. most of them aren’t as young, for starters. but she’d spent her life wanting to help someone, and this was the best way she could find. “nice to meet you, too, detective.” she smiles at the ground, but sobers up quickly, “i don’t… i dont know, honestly. there’s a lot going on here, from the main site to these few surrounding. i’m about to take samples, if you’d like to look around?”
dylan let out another well-natured laugh, nodding along. “if i did, i wouldn’t blame you.” he knew better then to ever try and get on the bad side of forensics. they were some of the hardest workers he knew. more then that, they helped make his job easier. being on their good side always meant more advantages, and in law enforcement, that’s the right side to be on. “i hope it is. last thing we need is to tape off another area, and cause more commotion.” it was always hard to keep a murder on the quiet side. the last thing they needed was for it to get more and more out of control. keeping it contained was the best thing they could hope for right now.
dylan smiled over to sofiya- sonya- again, gently allowing the branch down as he was sure she was out of harm’s way. “that makes sense. i don’t have any worries about the number of staff they lend out, though. i know you guys work around the clock.” dylan said earnestly. with a nod, dylan reached into his pocket, and pulled out some plastic gloves, which he snapped onto his hands. just in case. “of course. i’ve been trying to track things so far. there’s been a few small things, here and there. a foot print. a piece of fabric. but nothing... solid.” he sighed. there was something off about this murder in particular. it was particularly meticulous, if you asked dylan. “and, if you don’t mind, we still haven’t caught anyone yet, and i’d feel a lot better knowing you aren’t just out here by yourself.” dylan said honestly. not that he had doubts about her defending herself, but it was dangerous. he didn’t want anyone else getting hurt. “so. guess you’re stuck with me, specialist sonya.” he paused. “i will be interviewing people, once we’ve secured the scene. then i promise, i’ll leave you alone.” he knew having a detective breathe down your throat wasn’t the most comforting thing in the world.
ofholisticims:
Had someone told Harrison Harvey a week ago that the extended work vacation he was about to embark on would quickly turn into a murder mystery dinner party, he’d have laughed in their faces and blown smoke in it, just for kicks. But unfortunately for America’s pretty boy, that was his reality now, as he stood with a group of other guests who had gathered near where the body was found. There was a murderer among them, as this was clearly no accident, and tensions already seemed to be running a bit high. He decided to take it upon himself to ease the tension. “Can’t say I knew the poor bastard well, but shit,” His eyes lingered over the body for moments too long, “That’s a rough way to go out.”
“shit is one way to put it.” dylan remarked, glancing over at the male. dylan’s eyebrows bunched together for a brief moment. “rough is another way to put it.” it could be noted down to just being shock, but dylan was curious as to what this male was doing here, of all places. dylan wasn’t necessarily skeptical, but how much bad luck did you have to have, to quite literally stumble into a murder scene? “step this way with me, won’t you? the forensics’ specialist will kill me if i let anybody else step all over her crime scene.” he said, good-naturedly. “i’m detective dylan hyuk. do you mind if i maybe ask you a few questions?”
ofwaterfalls:
she checks the wound one more time, just to be sure. the cut isn’t too much, it could use a bit of disinfectant. “with a band aid, you should be patched up enough to make it to the nearest hospital,” she grins, “can’t have you bleeding out at a crime scene.” she looks up, “you didn’t… drip any blood onto the ground, did you?” sonya asks, slowly. god, she hopes not. she doesn’t want have followed the wrong trail. that would have been a waste of everyone’s time. “i promise i’ll keep your secret.” sofiya smiles.
sofiya points towards her kit, small camera hanging off of it and vials for collecting samples on the side, “forensics.” she states, easily, ready to figure out what had happened. sonya almost jumps into a tirade on her theory, but she stops herself with the words on her tongue, instead saying, “i’m glad you’d come get me, though. i’m not the greatest fighter, never have been.” she turns away from the trail, pushing away thoughts of her childhood. “sofiya kuznetsova, but you can call me sonya, if you’d like.” she states, holding out her hand to shake, “strange we haven’t met, but i’m with forensics, i’m sort of new around here.”
she’s smart. dylan can appreciate that. he lets out a small chuckle, putting his hand back up to his forehead to cup it, and prevent any blood. although... “no, i mean. i don’t think that’s my blood. i’m careful when it comes to this stuff.” or he usually is. could he have possibly contaminated the scene, by something so foolish? he was supposed to be smarter then that.
as she states forensics, dylan can’t help but let out a loud whoosh of relief, almost doubling over with it. “thank god.” he says genuinely, with a light laugh. “i thought you were a reporter for a second there, and no offence, but that’s the last thing i need right now.” dylan’s never been good with giving reporters the brush around. he usually ends up saying something foolish, or snapping out a ‘no comment’, which he feels bad about for the next few months. “of course. they told me they were bringing some of the forensics team over. sorry. i guess i’m still a bit turned around by this entire place.” dylan holds out his hand then, to her. “detective hyuk. it’s a pleasure to meet you. wish it were under better circumstances.” he hadn’t really expected someone from forensics to look so... young. and pretty. and normal. but he knows better then to say anything like THAT, so he barrels onwards. “what have you guys dug up so far? anything we can work with?”
ofwaterfalls:
“oh - I didn’t even… notice,” sofiya pauses, looking up at the branch and then back down at the trail she was following, the blood tapering out just a bit ahead. “too focused on making sure that everything is documented,” she looks up, concerned at him. “i usually have a couple of band aids in my kit, if you’d like one. i’m clumsy when i get focused,” she rummages through her gear quickly, locating the hello kitty branded bandages, and pulling one out, “if you hadn’t come along, i would’ve fallen victim to that branch, too.”
she moves under the branch, following the trail to the natural end. sonya had hoped it would continue at least to the tree line, but there was no such luck. a dead end, again. “i mean - i wouldn’t call it too ballsy, i had the same self defense training as you.” she states, “no gun, but i can assure you, i can scream loud enough that i’m sure if i got murdered you’d come running.” she jokes, trying to make the situation a little lighter. dark subjects always made her uncomfortable.
dylan brightened at the mention of a bandaid. he put a hand up to his cheek again, pulling away his hand to see some dried blood still there. “it’s really that bad, huh?” he half joked, before nodding appreciatively. “thanks.” as she yanked out the hello kitty bandages, dylan opened his mouth, then closed it again. it was still better then nothing. “it’s the least i could do. so long as, you know, you don’t tell anyone that the branch and i got into a fight, and the branch won.”
thinking back to what she’d said just moments ago, dylan glanced over at her. “documenting? mind if i ask what, exactly?” if she was a journalist, he’d have to be a lot more wary from this point onwards. they always made the job that much harder for him. dylan coughed out a slight laugh, shifting uneasily on his feet. “i would most definitely come running. i’d be pretty shit at my job if i didn’t.” he said honestly.
“hey, hey, CAREFUL.” dylan turned quickly, and reached over to pull up a particularly low hanging branch before someone walked into it. he offered a slight chuckle. “speaking from experience. i didn’t see that branch until it was too late, and it landed me with this-” dylan gestured towards the scratch on his cheek, shaking his head. the entire place was almost overly well manicured. although it was so obscenely large, he couldn’t really fault them for forgetting one or two branches. it all added to the overall MYSTERY of the place, in a way, after all.
keeping one hand on the branch, dylan made sure to keep the branch from swinging down and hurting the other person. he took a step back to give them more space to manoeuvre. “wandering around by yourself right now is pretty BALLSY.” dylan couldn’t help pointing out. it wasn’t the safest area for anyone, including HIMSELF, but he had a gun and a badge, and that was at least something.
