As a student of Iowa City High School in Iowa City, Iowa, Dylan Nathaniel Quint maintained a consistent presence on the honor roll and gained admittance to both the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. A versatile athlete as well as a dedicated student, Dylan N. Quint received MVC all-academic honors in the sports of football and soccer. Best Buddies Event Raises Millions

An assistant manager of the building materials department at Menards in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Dylan Nathaniel Quint holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. While completing his degree, Dylan N. Quint worked as a tutor and volunteered for nonprofit groups such as Best Buddies International. Founded in 1987 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies International stands as one of the oldest and most influential national nonprofit organizations devoted to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Since its founding, Best Buddies has been a driving force behind legislation such as the Americans with Disabilities Act. The organization also creates social, workforce development, and recreational programs for individuals with disabilities. In September of 2018, Best Buddies International raised more than $5 million through a fundraising event held in San Simeon, California. The 15th annual Best Buddies Challenge, hosted by Hearst Castle, brought together more than 1,200 cyclists to participate in a cycling fundraiser on the coast of California. The 15th Annual Best Buddies Challenge

Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle took place September 6-8, beginning with a private dinner in the Bay Area. The next evening, Hearst Ranch hosted a reception with a dinner and cocktails. A jersey contest was also held, with fundraising teams showing off their creativity. The following morning, participants rode in cycling routes along the California coast, and a 5K run/walk known as the Carl Lewis Challenge was held. That night, Hearst Ranch hosted a barbecue and awards ceremony.

Best Buddies and Cold Stone Creamery Partner to Raise Funds

The recipient of a BSE in industrial engineering from The University of Iowa in Iowa City, Dylan Nathaniel Quint completed internships with companies such as John Deere. In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dylan N. Quint is a dedicated member of the community that has volunteered with nonprofit organizations such as Best Buddies International. Founded by members of the Kennedy family, Best Buddies has supported individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) for more than 30 years. In addition to serving as a driving force behind important legislation such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, Best Buddies advocates for members of the IDD community through programs and events funded by grants, donations, and corporate partnerships. In the summer of 2018, Best Buddies and ice cream chain Cold Stone Creamery teamed up for another successful month-long fundraiser to benefit the nonprofit. Throughout the month of August, Cold Stone Creamery sold specially designed stickers in its stores throughout the country to raise money and promote awareness of the important programs and initiatives at Best Buddies. The stickers, which featured the Best Buddies logo designed by artist Keith Haring, a longtime friend of Best Buddies CEO Anthony Shriver, were sold for a minimum donation of $1, with all proceeds going to Best Buddies International. This was the third consecutive year that Best Buddies and Cold Stone Creamery partnered for a fundraising project.

While completing his bachelor's degree in Iowa City, Dylan N. Quint joined the Sigma Pi Fraternity. Since its establishment in 1897, the Sigma Pi Fraternity has grown to include more than 100,000 members and over 120 active chapters across North America. In addition to providing members with opportunities for personal growth and leadership development, the fraternity has an international philanthropic program known as the Altruistic Campus Experience, or the ACE Project. Mark Briscoe, the executive director of Sigma Pi, formulated the idea in 2002 as a way for members to give back to host institutions around the world. The AYA Cancer Program of University of Iowa Health Care

Former Iowa City resident Dylan Nathaniel Quint holds a bachelor’s of science in industrial engineering from the University of Iowa. Throughout his college career and after graduation, Dylan N. Quint has remained committed to community service programs that benefit children. In addition to working as a tutor, he was involved with the Friends of Kids with Cancer program through the University of Iowa’s hospital. To address the needs of young people between the ages of 13 and 31 who have cancer, the University of Iowa’s Stead Family Children’s Hospital established the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer program in partnership with the UI Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. The purpose of the AYA program is to help younger patients navigate the complexities that arise when managing education, family, and work while undergoing cancer treatment. Alongside restorative treatments, patients enrolled in the AYA program have access to a wide scope of services, including genetic screening and fertility planning, support with pain management, and counseling. Since the 15-to-19 age group is underrepresented in clinical trials for cancer treatment, the AYA program also develops trials specifically for this demographic.

The Sigma Pi Fraternity ACE Project

A native of Iowa City and an engineering graduate of the University of Iowa, Dylan Nathaniel Quint is an assistant manager for the Menards home improvement chain. While attending college, Dylan N. Quint belonged to the Sigma Pi Fraternity and participated in many volunteer and community projects. Founded as a literary society at Vincennes College in 1897, Sigma Pi has grown into a multinational organization with more than 120 chapters across the United States and Canada. The fraternity’s focus has also expanded and today concentrates on philanthropic, academic, and community leadership programs. Among the fraternity’s more effective initiatives is the Sigma Pi Altruistic Campus Experience (ACE). Conceived in 2002, ACE is less of a formal program and more of a concept with a unifying goal of improving the college campuses for each Sigma Pi chapter. Because there are no formal guidelines for the program, each chapter can design and implement ACE in the manner that best suits the local needs. For example, some chapters host week-long events that bring together the Greek community, while others raise funds for local charities. Ultimately, the goal of ACE is to inspire Sigma Pi members to give back to their campuses and communities.
