I've talked about this before on DeviantArt a few years back, but I need to talk about it again.
Last month, I went to the optometrist. As I said before, I have high eye pressure, and that I've been going to the optometrist every half a year or so to track it. I had some false alarms, but usually, everything is fine.
Well last month, I had my appointment, and unfortunately, I got the diagnosis that I've been worried about for over a decade.
To my knowledge, it's only in my right eye, but pressure is also high in my left eye, so I'm being treated for both to be on the safe side.
Learning this was a shock. I was in a good mood that day until I got the news. At the moment, I don't actually see any visual difference; that's how early we caught it.
My optometrist is optimistic, but still….. FUCK!
Anyway, I've been taking eye drops, Latanoprost, for the last month to keep my eye pressure down. I put one drop on each eye every night at 10 PM. It only takes about five minutes of my day, so it hasn't been too bad so far.
I apologize for not saying anything until now. I felt you all should know, but I decided to keep this a secret until I saw my optometrist again. I didn't want to cause too much worry.
I saw the optometrist again today, and thankfully, I have good news. The eye drops are working. My eye pressure is going down, and the nerves of my eyes are stable.
I have to keep taking my eye drops, and I will see the optometrist again in half a year to take it from there.
Now you're probably wondering: What does this mean for Penny and Judge?
Currently? Nothing.
I have every intention to continue making comics for as long as I can. Ideally until the day I die. Even if I had gotten bad news today, I still would have tried.
If the day ever comes where I do have to hang up the stylus, I'll let you all know, but it looks like that won't be for a very, very long time.
Until that day, the comics will continue. Today, however, I'm going to relax. I'm going to smoke some pot and eat some good food. I earned it.
