How did you learn how to paint human figures? I am struggling with anatomy currently and could use some advice. You see the human body is intimidating to me and I would like some guidance. Would it be possible to see your process for painting bodies?

Hi, dear anon! despite that i’m not like the true master of the secret anatomy-drawing technic i think i may have something useful for ya? It you’re familiar with all of this already - thats cool too. arguably boring part of learning how to draw is “repeat this 1000000 again and you may only may improve” but here we go 

- use 3D head and bodies models! there’s plenty of this stuff on internet and when you can see body from all angles??? 360″??? and also with day/night light??? this is like god finally send help to us 

- start to draw not with a line but with a stain. like you dropped a paint on your last canvas and you have no money to buy a new one and should draw as it is. make something beautiful from the wildest shape you can get! im almost never making sketches and instead just creating a mess with colors i like and only after try to find a siluets in whatever i’ve done 

- perspective is a cool thing to learn! once your phone fell down on the floor and made couple of selfies while flying - there’s no coming back

- this is more subjective than others but drawing mosters is helping a lot. like you dont have this giant rule above you’re head telling you “this is like nose/soulder/butt should look are you never saw noses/shoulders/butts before your? patttthetic”. and you’re feel free to draw hands as long as you want, 10 ribs instead of 24 24???24???? why so many who the fuck created so many?? i’ve falled asleep twice while drawing lucien legs without knees and so on and so on

- how about draw the whole body with one line ha 

- dont get overwhelmed with “i must/i should”!!! have fun, draw what you lacking in a real life and who the hell should care of how it looks like? the important thing that you having fun and if you continue to work - it will happen. one day you’ll open your photoshop and you gonna be like “shit. im so good at this. i realy like what i’ve done - its sensitive its elegant and it tells what i want to tell. im so good!” 

this moment is so worth it you’ll even forget all stupid videos you were watching all this time trying not to die spending 2/3 of the day on and under your table
