Today I have done my new shoe upper test, and match with my new outsole also include the shell toe rubber and feet support rubber. But the new soles are little bigger than the shoe last, so I have used the clay to build it longer. Compare with the stitching method, I was keen on the nail fixed method, it can make sure the perfect shape of my shoe upper. I added my clip button into my shoe and did the test of the function, it can firm the sneaker when people moving.

Today I went to kidderminster again to buy some new silicon rubber and flexible foam. My new mold needs two kilograms materials of silicon rubber.
experiment of flexible foam
Today I have done the experiment of my shoe outsoles. The prototype materials: Flexible Foam-17. It will approx 3.5x expansion, so see how it going. The first step is preparation, store and use at room temperature (73°F/23°C). Environmental humidity should be as low as possible. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves and rubber gloves to minimize contamination risk. Next step is to use the release agent. Urethane foams are adhesive and will stick/bond to many surfaces. I use the Ease Release 2831 to release urethane foam from silicon rubber, I brush them and let the release agent dry for 30 minutes. Then, Pre-mix Parts A & B – Stir or shake both Part A & Part B thoroughly before dispensing. After that, the most important process, Stir quickly and deliberately for 30 seconds.(no more than 60 seconds because the pot life only 1minute) Make sure that you aggressively scrape the sides and bottom of your mixing container several times. Pour into mold. These materials cure quickly. So I cannot delay between mixing and pouring. Allow foam to cure for at least 30 minutes before handling. After 30 minutes, I handing it. the first prototype has not enough material, but it flexible and comfortable when I tried to turn on it. After few number of testing, the prototype is getting better and better, but they have the same problems: the gap! Especially when the foam was curing, the mold was distracted, the gap is bigger than other materials. I try some methods to improving surface finish, I use the foam cutter to cut it and the soldering iron to heat it, it can work but create some contaminated gas, so I give up. Prehaps have some other methods...25.April.2017
My big parcel arrived! There are my new 3D printing shoe soles and the rubber shell toes & heel stabilizer. This was three-day earlier than the original plan. I was so glad that I have more time to do my experiment before the signature project deadline.
I was so glad that I found a new way to connect the upper and the base. it can stitch together through the sewing machine, this is more convenient compared to using nail and hammer.
I would like to do the new structure of my upper, the front fabric is neoprene, and the back one is knit fabric, so I drew the pattern on my shoe 'last', and cut the sample out of the mount board, it will be used as a shape for my upper fabric.
