Baby boy has the scrunchiest-nose smile, recognizes the sign for "light" (when mom signs it, he will turn towards the lamp), shakes his head 'no' for all the things, is a lot more controlled when moving down to his tummy from a sitting position (instead of solely relying on the weight of his head to bring him down), started signing "more", has a third tooth at the top left, and will pull up straight to standing when we pull him up by his hands (aint' nobody got time for sitting). He hasn't used words functionally yet BUT there have been two instances where he stared straight at John and said "dada". The cutest was when John went in to get him from his crib one morning. John had shaved his beard off the night before, and Benjamin hadn't seen him without it yet. Benjamin looked at him for a few seconds with a puzzled look on his face, but then recognition crossed his face and he said "dada". So yeah, I think he's pretttty close. after getting home from church today, i spent a good 10 minutes crying in my driveway staring at this kid in the back seat mirror as he was napping (lol). it started when i noticed his eyelids getting heavy on the drive (do any other moms completely melt when they see their kid start to nod off? it’s the sweetest thing, and I can’t deal). sometimes I get so overwhelmed with gratitude; amazed that he’s ours, floored by the deep, ever growing joy that something so small can bring. i don’t often understand how God works but man, i know He knew Benjamin would be ours long before we did. i know He knew when things were broken in our marriage that the most perfect gift was coming once the dust settled. i can just picture Him with a fierce look of determination on his face, like a father cheering His kids on, urging us to press on, to keep hoping, keep trusting, keep striving forward, because He was going to bring us through. and He did. and then He gave us our son. so yeah, God is the greatest gift giver ever. 😭 https://www.instagram.com/p/BrMWRHfnWaH/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=4aumhwnkb5q

Baby boy is just the sweetest little thing. He likes when his hands and feet are tickled, when mom says hi in a high and airy voice, when dad lifts him up high above his head, and watching/attempting to interact with his cats Schweppes and Dorito. He can roll onto his tum no problem and is getting better at rolling onto his back when he's tired of that view (though sometimes needs help in the middle of the night when this happens). He's discovered how fun it is to knock stacked blocks over, immediately starts chuckling and smiling when he hears his bedroom door open after waking up, and is learning to sit up by himself. He does this thing during feeding where he will stop, slyly smirk at mom, and maneuver his arm towards her mouth so that she can kiss his hand.
