Title: What happens now?
I created this piece to revolve around the pandemic and school closure. I was left in a blur and it's almost as if my whole world froze. I stayed in my room a lot, so I wanted to make everything appear imperfect. The zoom call is on but I'm not there. Mentally I never was, and this shows just that. My room is still my room, my items and comfort things are present, the lights still work, but I'm not there anymore. The colors bring a hazy and nostalgic vibe to add to the fact that this is all a memory.
Installation research
My final idea will be turning my room to reflect how I felt during the pandemic closure and feeling isolated. My room with be dark with multiple rays of lights, as well as objects discarded all around
P9 installation ideas
The first idea is what Covid was like for me when it first began and I was stuck home. The second idea is how I feel in my room when I’m just chilling and playing games. It brings me joy and almost like nothing else matters. The 3rd idea is fear, and I’m doing it about an old dream I had. I’m very afraid of bugs and being stalked, hence the eyes on the wall and floor.

P8. Perception
For the project I chose to take away my sight. I wanted to test how well I could not only get my hair together very quick, but locate my items well. I was actually surprised with how well it turned out. It also made me more aware of myself, which granted I would think it took away my ability to do something, but it strengthened the rest of me. My touch, my hearing, smell, etc.

Self care
This piece came about when I chose to remake and transform the hip sculpture I own. I didn’t want to copy it because what’s the point of having two when I could make my own version for myself. Since my bush sculpture only shows the hips, I wanted to showcase a nude woman with plants wrapping around her instead to change it up. I chose the plants surrounding her because it reminds me of how I feel during one of my self care days. Where I’m tending to my plants and focused on myself. This is where I’m not insecure and I enjoy being in my body while doing what I love the most. I looked at old Greek nude models for a base shape, and didn’t work on smoothing the body out in order to highlight how not everything is perfect, but that’s where the growth and acceptance comes from. Hence all of the leaves and vines🌿
Update!:
I turned the project into a little propagation bowl!
Plaster ideas
The ideas I was going for were along the lines of things that give me happiness. The first one is decoration in my room. The second is a cactus that my mom owned back in Texas (I have a similar one now). The 3rd was my very first iPhone to give me a sense of nostalgia. the forth was random, but it involved my middle name so I thought it was cute. #5 is piercings. 6 is a cute mushroom. 7 is my video game controller that keeps me sane, and 8 is for my favorite holiday. I’m choosing to go with the 1st idea, but adding an actual torso along with more leaves wrapping around it. I want it to resemble mother nature or eve.
