The 2014 PSP World Cup is always a sight to see. Thousands of players, spectators, vendors, and dealers flock to the Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida, where the PSP World Cup is held. We are fortunate enough to be able to attend the PSP World Cup because we are only a short 3 hour drive to the venue. We got to check out all of the newest paintball gear that is going to be release over the next few weeks for 2015.
Empire Paintball has many impressive new paintball markers that will be available in November 2014. The Empire Axe Pro has been revamped and upgraded since the previous model with the OLED Redline Board built into the front grip of the gun. The 2015 Empire Vanquish got overhauled as well, allowing easier breakdown for cleaning and regular maintenance. The Vanquish will sell for $1,499.95 and the Axe Pro will sell for $699.95. Along with the new markers coming soon from Empire Paintball, they will also be making more affordable barrels and barrel kits for all markers that accept Autococker type threads. The latest HPA tanks that Empire will be manufacturing are the new Empire Ultra Carbon Fiber HPA Tanks. These tanks are incredibly light just like the already well known Ninja Paintball Super Light (SL) Tanks.
Dye Paintball is always pushing the limits of technology and design. Their newest color schemes are very colorful and unique. The DM15 has a few major changes like making the Billy Wing Bolt Kit a standard feature built into the marker and an extremely low profile feedneck that has been integrated into the body of the marker. The 2015 Reflex is now available with the same color schemes as the DM15, Rotor, and i4 Goggle, allowing you to match every piece of equipment together to give you the freshest and most intimidating appearance in paintball.
Valken Paintball is going to be releasing their newest goggle sometime in the beginning of 2015. It is very similar to the Sly Profit Goggles that have been around for many years, but has been updated and given a new look and feel. On the airsoft side of things, Valken Airsoft has many new products being released this year. Their newest helmet, the Valken ATH Tactical Helmet, is sure to be popular with its mounts and rails built onto the front and sides of the shell. Allows for night vision goggles, GoPro cameras, lights, and many more accessories to be attached to the helmet to give you the upper hand against the competition.
Speaking of airsoft, Tippmann Sports will be releasing their newest airsoft rifle later this month. We believe they will be hitting a homerun with their 12g CO2 cartridge or HPA powered airsoft rifle. We had a chance to sit down with the techs and take a close up look at the gun. Essentially, it is a paintball gun that is designed to fire bbs. When we finally got a chance to fire the new airsoft rifle, we were very impressed with the accuracy and consistency of the gun. It shot like a dream. With such a quick rate of fire on full auto and snappy and responsive trigger on semi auto, this gun will be the gun to dominate the fields.
Exalt Paintball also has quite a few new paintball products coming before the end of 2014. The paintball pod swab has not been made in a few years and it was always a must have tool in your gearbag. After all these years, Exalt Paintball has begun to manufacture their version of the pod swab. Just like a barrel swab, you will use this almost every time you play paintball. Their new goggle cases, and lens cases are very nice and perfect for the player that travels a lot.
A new company that has begun make a name for themselves is Inception Designs. Specializing in custom Empire AXE bodies and 2 piece barrels, their displays were very sharp and impressive. More of their products have begun to surface around the paintball network and East Coast Extreme is hoping to be an exclusive distributor for this new and upcoming company.
Virtue Paintball has expanded their styles and colors of the Virtue Vio Goggles and Virtue Spire Loaders. Virtue offers many different color options and styles that allows for thousands of customization options. It is pretty safe to say that the Vio and Spire are the most customizable goggles and hoppers on the market today. Virtue will be releasing a new product that is sought after by many players, a goggle fan. They had a prototype at World Cup and we were able to see it up close. It is nearly silent but can move some air. Designed to fit almost all goggles made today, the fan is something that is almost a must down here in south Florida.
Planet Eclipse will be releasing a brand new, completely overhauled, and redesigned Etek. The new Etek 5 has the appearance of its big brother, the Ego LV1, but a price tag that is going to be under $600. When you hold this new Etek 5, it feels exactly like the LV1. The Etek 5 is made from the same glass reinforced nylon and the Etek 4 LT. Even though it is a type of plastic, this marker does not feel cheap whatsoever. Planet Eclipse has a great design team that made a high end paintball marker at an affordable price. The new Etek 5 is due this year before Christmas.
Last, but not least, HK Army. HK Army has already released their KLR Goggles earlier this year, but they have released a few of their new colors such as red, neon green, white, and what seems to be the most favorite, metallic gold. ECE Sports is fortunate enough to have these KLR Paintball Goggles in stock now. Their newest product they released was the Zero G Pod Pack. Defying gravity is a feat HK Army has finally pulled off. The new pod harness does not use any Velcro straps to secure the pods into the harness and is completely adjustable to fit all different types of pods. Of course we wanted to see it in action so we took the harness with pods secured and shook the harness every which way to try to get the pods to slide out, but were not able to, leaving us very impressed with the harness that could change the way we carry our pods on our backs.
Overall, the 2014 PSP World Cup was a great deal of fun. There will be lots of new and exciting paintball and airsoft products that will be released over the coming weeks.
