Well! We’re actually gonna get some more context about Grandpa Oliver in chapter 10, if everything goes according to my outline! If you don’t mind spoilers, I’ll put the answer below the cut 😉

Some neighbors, yes, but Mark and Nolan are probably some of the longest standing tenants of the building they live in. There have definitely been some questionable situations for the building doormen, but unfortunately these things are rarely reported in real life. Especially since Mark stopped showing um.. damage after age 10. Hearing arguments through the wall in a different language doesn’t really give neighbors enough context. But suspect, yes.

Yes, Oliver did get in contact with Nolan! However, Nolan is very, very controlling and didn’t allow it to happen.. He may have hid some things from Oliver, and he may be hiding some things from Mark 🫪

As for did he leave anything in his will..? Money, I suppose, stuff Mark can’t legally touch until he’s 18. The house went to Debbie of course, which she sold. I don’t see the Grayson family as one that has many momentos or heirlooms. Any pictures would be in Debbie’s possession.

Honestly, I don’t read as much as I’d like to, but I think everyone who writes wants to be like Nabokov, haha. In the past I had a similar question, so I’ll link that post here. If you’re getting into reading, especially in English, Spaceman of Bohemia is a good one to go for, since it’s less.. technical, I guess? If you like short stories, Uncanny Magazine or The Paris Review are good resources!

Lmao having Nolan filed as a conscience objector is so funny somehow. I'm picturing Mark giving off home schooled kid energy despite *not* being home schooled. It's completely hilarious to me, I think Nolan might have a heart attack if he found out people think he's anti-vax, even just as Mark's totally normal human dad. Mark absolutely has horrendous vibes at school you know, people must always get the sense that he's lying all the time, but it must seem like it's about mundane things and not, "my dad is an abusive space alien whose card declines at BurgerMart, aka Omni-man the most powerful person on the planet". Well, at least there's William.

fr after his attempt he definitely had an epiphany like, "Oh I actually have to do this forever"

Hmmmm I'm sure there are? It's been a while since I've worked on lizard tail tbh (i apologize 😅), so nothing specifically is coming to mind.. Most of those little "facts" are written down in various places (I've got the main document and then some sandwich bags lol), all hopefully to end up in the story, even as just a one-liner or something.

WAIT I HAVE ONE okay so I know I’ve written out Mark saying that Cecil’s teleportation smells bad, but Cecil can’t smell it.. The smell is carbon monoxide! Humans (and most if not all animals) can’t smell it, but here Mark can. This was literally just for funsies since the only person who uses teleportation enough to be affected by it is Cecil, and we know he’s not 100% organic material lol

Its just that I (reader) feel so bad for Mark not being able to be as care free as kids his age and being emotionally stunted because of his dad 🥲

To love and be loved is not up to anyone—this might be what Nolan doesn’t understand, that emotions are non consensual. He knows that it exists, but what is the biological reason for it? To bond organisms together when each other’s influence is beneficial to their survival? For example, Nolan feeds Mark every night and provides shelter—maybe for animals, this is love. Maybe for these two, this is love.

Tl;dr: I doooon’t remember either 😅 I think it’s something I wanted to work on more, showing more instances of them getting along.
