Many years ago I watched Jeepers Creepers at the theaters and thought it was the scariest film I have ever seen. When I came home I told my father about it. He told me this “it’s the scariest film now. Years from now there will be something scarier.” I then asked him why. He said this “when I was younger the scariest film I ever saw was Halloween.” I told him that Halloween wasn’t scary at all and then he dropped this bomb on me. “It wasn’t the fact that this man was unkillable, or inhumanly strong. It was that mask. That blank expressionless mask. You never know if he actually enjoyed what he was doing or if he was angry, sad, or confused. You just know that he won’t stop until you are dead. That mask is blank and expressionless so that you can imagine what is killing you. That’s the scary thing about Michael Myers, that mask psychologically breaks you before he gets his hands on you. All those other slashers like Jason or Freddy, and even Chucky or the Creeper that you mentioned all have a face. You know what they want and what some of them are feeling and what motivates them to kill certain people. But with Michael Myers, you don’t.
