You should be like Rahm!

Quitchen’s Top Five for Staying Cool at Lollapalooza
1) Check out Quitchen featured restaurants, Burrito Beach and Robinson’s #1 Ribs, at Chow Town North and South!! Eating their delicious food will keep away the dehydration
2) Refill those water bottles! Camelback refilling stations are everywhere!
3) This is Lollapalooza, not a rave. Wear weather appropriate clothes without looking like an idiot.
4) Ask for help if you’re feeling dehydrated and malnourished, if you’re camping out a stage, chances are security has water bottles to give out so take one!!
5) The water mist stations are about to be your new best friend so do not overdo it on the makeup! It will melt off in seconds
this counts as an ice cream sandwich too :)
Today is....
National Ice Cream Sandwich Day!!!!
It's finally a sunny day in Chicago so you should grab your siblings, your kids, your friends, your room mates, and hunt down an ice cream truck or head to your local ice cream parlor for a sweet, sticky dessert that will leave you satisfied and licking cookie pieces off your fingers.
The Quitchen Staff is taking their afternoon break to chase down an ice cream truck now!
Happy National Blueberry Muffin Day!!!!

Today we checked out Bangkok Belly in Park Ridge. They have three locations in Norwood Park, Park Ridge, and Des Plaines. Check them out on www.bangkokbelly.com ! They have a large menu that varies from thai food to sushi and everything in between. We loved their lunch special!! It included a soup of the day (Wonton Soup, featured above), an eggroll and a healthy noodle or rice/meat portion. Also, great price for their portion sizes! Be sure to check them out this coming week at the Taste of Park Ridge!
mmm summer pies! perfect at a graduation party!
*The hot dogs pictured above start with Gene and Judes and follow the order of the list!*
We’ve decided to include the best of the suburban hot dogs that don’t get as much love as the city chains for National Hot Dog Month!
Check them out below!
5) Portillo’s
various locations- www.portillos.com
Coming in at Number 5, Portillo’s has a lot of Chicagoland locations. Their hot dog features a typical poppyseed bun and all the fixins. They add some of ‘Portillo’s secret sauce’ to top it off. Since this is a large chain, it fits in at the top of the list because it doesn’t have all the love that these other family owned hot dog stands possess.
4) Home Depot on Dempster
8650 Dempster St Niles, IL 60714
This secret spot is known only to the locals. We swear that the Home Depot on Greenwood and Dempster can offer you a big surprise. When you enter/exit Home Depot, there’s a little hot dog stand that has very weird opening/closing hours. There is something about this hot dog, though. It is the perfect combo of toppings, each with just the right amount, and of course is all wrapped up in a poppyseed bun.
3) Paradise Pup
1724 S River Rd Des Plaines, IL 60018
Although these guys are known for their char cheeseburgers, the char dog is a hidden gem. It’s the perfect Chicago dog, nice and grilled for those of you who like the grill versus a boiled dog. Expect to stand in line for about a half hour to score one of these dogs!
2) Superdawg
6363 N Milwaukee Ave Chicago, IL 60646
The home of the dancing hot dogs is a memorable Chicago landmark. Superdawg Drive-In has a great menu, but the Superdawg is amazing. The garnishes include the typical onion, mustard, relish, and peppers but they also throw in a green tomato and pickle to make it what some say is a true Chicago dawg. The crinkle cut fries are some of the best in Chicago, in our opinion! Get a taste of the older days at this adorable drive through and we promise you will not be disappointed.
1) Gene and Jude’s
2720 River Rd, River Grove, IL 60171
This little River Grove assembly line hot dog haven features three things on the menu; hot dog, double dog, and tamale. Both dogs come with fries, of course. This hole in the wall restaurant was named the best hot dog in the country in March by Rachael Ray. It is illegal to put ketchup on a hot dog here, in fact it rumored that you will not be served if you ask for ketchup on your Chicago dog. The McDonald’s next door charges for ketchup if you REALLY have to have it (in this case, you cannot call yourself a true Chicagoan). The ingredients are combined perfectly so that when you bite into that steamed hot dog, it's game over. We can't help but mention how fabulous it is to hear that snapping of the hot dog when you first bite in, drooooool. The medley of relish, onions, mustard, and peppers is heavenly.
