Eat, sleep, and be merry. My challenge

This is my newest attempt to put thought into what I'm eating and what I'm doing on a daily basis to be healthy. Not to be thin. Not to fit into some sort of societal definition of beauty. But to take the time for myself to reflect on the habits and choices I have. I hope to post my workouts, what I eat, and other thoughts. Even if this is only for myself and the world never sees it, I have brought something of value to myself.

If the shoe fits...

I work at the  OSU Challenge Course as a facilitator and as the program scheduling supervisor in the office.  And being 300 pounds, I generally only fit in the larger harnesses.  So it never even occurred to me that the staff harnesses would fit.  But today I tried.  And guess what?

Today, karma confirmed that I was meant to be a staff member at the OSU Challenge Course. As silly as that sounds, one thing that worried me the most has been resolved. It fits.

Playing the numbers

Every time I've gotten on a scale in the last six months I've been at or slightly above 300 pounds.  Today I hopped on and I was at 297.  I'm proud of where I am today regardless if that small feat matters or not.

Rock climbing to new heights

So today I rock climbed.  I attempted three routes (5.8, 5.7, 5.8 in that order) climbing higher each time.  I can only attest to my own experiences, but on my last (about 10) rock climbing adventures, I could never achieve the same height as I did as on the first route of the day.  I adopt what I like to call "project routes."  It is my goal to climb the same routes over and over again until I can climb them straight to the top.

I'll have to take pictures of their names and post them here next time I'm at the gym...

Anyways (Deal with my colloquial bad grammar.  I love my s.), I got maybe 20 feet up on the first route.  Maybe 30 feet up on the second one.  But the third one.  The third one I made it about 15 ft from the top, fell, chalked my hands, and tried again.  I didn't make it to the top, but I was only 9 holds short.  I shall conquer that route soon.

Post rock climbing dinner of champions. Attempted a 5.7 and two 5.8s! Cheddar cheese, a large white nectarine, and a nonfat, double protein peach yogurt. Note to self, try dipping nectarines in yogurt?
