How about some vulnerability for you tonight? (As much of an "open book" as I usually am, this is kinda terrifying to share, so bear with me.) A little over a year ago I sat in my bedroom floor feeling more desperate than I'd ever felt in my life. This was one of the darkest seasons of depression I'd ever experienced. Yes, I live with tendencies toward depression and anxiety, but you may have never known because I've learned to cope without it controlling or debilitating me. This particular time was challenging for reasons that I will spare you the gory details of. But as I sat in my floor, shaking, with a gracious friend by my side, I began to read aloud 2nd Corinthians. Why did I turn there you ask? Because I was familiar with its personal nature. It wasn't all "fluff" when it came to the idea of pain. It was raw, but yet encouraging with an eternal perspective. And that's exactly what I was hungry for. As I began to read aloud, I had a physical response to its words. God was fighting for me, and the enemy wasn't happy about it. A large part of my journey out of that season began that night, and kept taking me back to 2nd Corinthians day after day. Now, I lay in my bed looking down at the very spot I sat that night with joy in my heart. "For when I am weak, then I am strong." --- So when I found out that @kelly_minter 's new study was on this very book of scripture I had to chuckle...because of course it would be! I got my book in the mail today, and am thrilled journey through #AllThingsNewStudy during a new season. Join me. Lifeway.com/allthingsnew #seatbeltson ....#letsdothis
